RGC 01: Scarification (Teaser) (Patreon)

(video is age restricted- you must be logged into Youtube to view!)

Back in 2014, shortly after I launched the original iteration of the Sacred Debris blog, influential scarification artist/piercer/suspension practitioner Ron Garza donated a box of DVC cassette tapes for permanent archival and storage.

We here at SD work on a very flexible schedule, so it's taken us eight years to start the archival process, but thanks to a highly and comically complicated workaround that connects a 20+ year old DVC camera (donated, in turn, by Erik Sprague- the Lizard Man) to a modern-ish MacBook Pro- we're finally on track.

Video archival, as I've mentioned previously, is the most time and resource related work we do here at SD. The costs of processing video stack on top of each other- this week alone we've dropped near $100 just on hardware peripherals to connect the camera to the computer, plus the on task time (so far the video the above snippet comes from has taken about 4 hours of on task time, and its nowhere near completed for archival/sharing), the cost of physical storage, the cost of cloud storage, etc- so with apologies, the videos will only be available for our VIP Patron tiers, though we may do an "adopt a tape" for folks who want to support a specific tape's archival. Not really sure what that will look like.

We're hoping to have tape 01 ready for sharing in early June, and look forward to digging into the horde of unlabeled tapes over the next few months!
