Content

It's strange checking the 'engagement' on the videos I post on Sacred/OV's Instagram accounts; we constantly have folks asking for "full" videos, but on average, people only watch 14-20 seconds before scrolling to the next piece of content in their timeline.

Over the last twelve years, since we started posting video content on the Occult Vibrations blog in 2011, we've been beholden to hosting platforms, cloud storage space, bandwidth, and ultimately, attention spans in an increasingly like-and-scroll economy and, as such, I've generally posted video files that have been edited down to easily consumable clips with those factors in mind.

Lately I've been cleaning up the longer video files that the shorter clips came from, and when possible, adding them to our alternate Youtube account so they can be watched in context. I'll be adding those here as time permits.

Grandpa Groovy's 1988 Richmond Convention.

I'm not sure who shot this footage; it was from the collection of and featured Jack Yount, but it doesn't have his signature commentary during filming so I have to assume a copy was given to him by the person who recorded it, but it's an amazing time capsule of the tattoo scene of the 1980s.

Personalities include:

00:20s: Ned Resinol, Pittsburgh PA, deceased.
04:56s: Sailor Moses, Biloxi, MS, deceased.
05:42s: Alex Herman, now a veterinarian in the Bay Area.
05:49s: Eddie Deutsche, currently tattooing in Nashville, TN.
05:54s: Paul Rogers, Jacksonville, FL, deceased.
06:18s: Scott Sterling, Virginia.
07:11s: Randy Adams, Fort Worth, TX.
07:26s: Gil Montie, Palm Bay, FL.
09:34s: Lyle Tuttle, San Francisco, CA, deceased.
11:04s: Jack Yount, Zephyrhills, FL, deceased.

At the 11m 29s mark there's a nipple piercing being performed with a piercing tool that is of particular interest.
