Art Pack: August 2026 (Patreon)

Good evening!

Life has been a whirlwind of options and hazards that have left me rather drained and disoriented more often than not. I'm going to be needing to make some Major Life Changes within the next few months if not earlier.

My Dad is 78. He's getting old. I don't think he wants to live alone anymore, and has offered to let me move into the room next to his. It's effectively free room and board instead of $1550/mo here in San Francisco, and it's only a couple hours' drive away. I would need to take over a lot of the responsibility of keeping the house relatively upkept since my Dad is not very physically capable anymore. He's also going to need to stop driving soon due to his vision getting progressively worse with age as well.

He says he's got maybe two or three years left in him, but I'm sure he could go for five or six or more with the way he's looking and feeling right now. He's smiling and laughing and enjoying his time even if the world is in a constant burning tailspin that just goes on and on forever.

I think I should Be There for my Dad though, even though it's been driving me sleepless with anxiety and grief over these sorts of Inevitable Changes that everyone has to go through in life but no one ever truly wants to.

I wish I could go back to my life being comfortable, stable, perfect, and relaxed, but I screwed that up unintentionally and now I am suffering from the fallout. It's >not< true suffering and I know there's a lot worse in life for a lot of my friends and the furry community and the world, so I don't >publicly< lament this sort of thing, but I do appreciate your support enough that I think you ought to know where I am emotionally and mentally right now. I'm fine. I have effective UBI from my Mom's retirement. I will not starve or be homeless.

I just hope I can make my Dad's final years something he can appreciate before I have to move on from that, too.
