Please overwrite any existing version you have, but also please read the desctiption below first.

Hi everyone, I've been busy going over the mesh for Thunderhill. Smoothing it out where necessary, adding details here and there. It's still only the 5 mile layout, but I want to get everything sorted before going through the full export process. For those that don't know, exporting a track and getting it into AC is quite a long one way process, so this version, in the interest of time, may not be as polished looking as the previous version, but the road feel etc should be better.

I welcome all comments and feedback as I'd really like to get a finished version of the location soon, so I can than work on the other layouts. Final version will haveEast, West (with and without the hill chicane thingy), 5 mile, is it ever raced in reverse etc? or are there any other layouts I should create?

Thanks everyone!Tyrone

East (bypass) has been run in reverse, and West is more often run in reverse. 5 mile only seems to be regular.

East should have 2 versions cyclone (the hill at T5E) and bypass (without the hill at T5E). West should have 2 versions no bypass and bypass (cutting out t8w, t9w and t10w). 5 mile can be ran with east having cyclone/bypass and west no bypass/bypass. Reverse is ran some times its called Llihrednuht. I have only seen the east being in reverse no idea if any one does west or 5 mile.

Great job! Even though the AI and everything is setup for 5-mile, all the rest of the track is there so I can run pretty much any configuration I want in single practice mode. Every time I've run the 5 there it's been with the west bypass and then on the east side it's always a toss up on whether bypass or over the top.

Gotta question, been looking at a lot of tracks closely and something that is really hit or miss is track edge details. I mean blending the track into the adjacent ground textures. there are huge differences in quality of the ground and track textures as well. Also I don’t know if many use normal maps to give depth to either track or ground. Note: this is not directed at your works, just generalizing all mods with hopes that these can be added.. I always enjoy the smaller details that add up to a location being real. If there is something I can help, let me know. Really like this tracks layout.

Hi Greg, The track textures do have normal and detail maps, the terrain textures for Thunderhill specifically at the moment are just basic grass ones, eventually i'd like to make them slightly higher res. Do you race with GrassFX enabled? This adds a lot to the detail in the surrounding areas.

Tyrone, yes I do 🙂, like I said just looking at other AAA titles to see what the differences are with what everyone is doing AC and the professionals. I am only here to encourage (and help if I can) to make these efforts even better. Many are so close! I do know this is everyone’s hobby and only able to afford so much time, so never here to complain 🙂

Sorry phone app doesn’t allow for a reply

I've seen both west and east running in reverse, east with or without cyclone.

Hi Greg, check out the terrain textures on the newest version of Chuckwalla (just uploaded) Thanks to you i've figured out a way to increase the texture resolution significantly. Still some work to do blending the track with the terrain, but it already looks 10x better.

Wow... I have been dying for a version of this track for AC! I started tracking at thunderhill in my f80 m3 this year. Thanks so much Tyrone! I just installed and on my first 2 laps. I was within a few seconds of my PB there. So it is pretty accurate. There are a few spots that feel off. But great job so far.

Great effort man. I think you nailed the elevation changes at thunderhill for the most part. I think that is the hardest part of making this track feeel right. There are a few minor spots that feel off to me. I tried to point them out below. I only ran the east track so far in AC so all turns are related to that. Sorry if its lacking alot of detail, i tried. -The turn off the bypass at turn 5E into turn 6E feels off. Think its the hard left edge of track that needs tweak. -The lead up to turn 10E feels off. Cant put my finger on it. Maybe the elevation change is slightly different? I also get a bump in the road around there that throws my car slightly. Dont experience that in real life. -There is a section of bumpstrips on the right side exit of turn 11E with several cones in your build. Alot of track days leave that strip open to drive over. Cones a lil further right. -Leading up to turn 14E and including the first 1/2 of the apex. There is something about the bend of the track that feels off. The exit of turn 14 into 15 is righ on but coming in feels odd.

Hi IMob, the next thing i'll be doing for thunderhill is going to be all of the variations, so thanks for pointing this out.
