Hi Everyone Today I have a massive update on Sebring 1966 to share with you all. A massive thanks is needed for Rodger who has helped put together a load of references and has acted as a guide as I’ve tried to get the track as accurate to the time period as possible. Download here -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BYyU4Cw9uR8inFBFJwlrQHS9e1wGX8MG/view?usp=sharing I usually do a list detailing the updates, but quite honestly it would take forever, I don’t think there’s a single bit of track surface that hasn’t been touched. The number of new objects, textures, redesigned things - there's a lot of changes to say the least. I have done an AI line that is actually functional for once, So that’s a nice change! Feel free to take your favourite car from the 60’s for a few laps of the brilliant track, and let me know your feedback in the comments.

There are a few bugs I’ve already discovered myself these include:Tyre / skid marks are too reflective, firestone bridge isn’t casting shadows properly, the ‘Sebring Flordia’ bridge flags are all glitchy. Small issues like that. These will be fixed for the next (possibly final?) update for this track.  We're definitely firmly in the 'fix stuff' rather than 'make stuff' stage of this project! On a side note, when I’m not making tracks that are requested, I’m busy making up and playing around with concepts for tracks. If you go right back to the start of my Patreon feed you’ll find the sort of tracks I mean. I have a few more that are just sitting there, not doing anything. Would anybody be interested in a ‘bulk upload’ sort of thing with a few tracks for people to pick through? If any get any sort of positive response, I can add it to the list of tracks that need finishing. Thanks again, and enjoy Sebring 😊 Ty

This is so incredibly awesome; tracks from MY time period. Like going back home! Only thing, is there any way to see the track in replay? Even just sit in the stands and watch? I don't know anything about this "camera" stuff. Is the still to be created?

Rodger Davies

Someone may crete some cameras for it, but until then the best thing to do is press 'f7' and it will open up the free-cam - then you can use the arrow keys, page up/down to move around, ctrl and shift to pan quicker or slower, and your mouse wheel to control FoV and direction

Huge update, thanks Tyrone - lots of recognisable buildings and huge step forward. With a few small layout tweaks (mainly from T3 to the hairpin), a bit of detailing and a good level of polish it'll 'soon' be a classic! Very atmospheric in early evening with yellow skies.

SO cool, thank you sir !

One little thing, the main straight is awesome, but was the airfield space that dark back in the days ? I don't know how much an airfield was illuminated in the night at that time, it's probably accurate like this, but it feels a bit lacking of "minimal safety" for a airfield purpose

Rodger Davies

That's a really good question to be honest; I'm not sure. Will have a look into that. The airfield was operational for commercial traffic at the time (private planes would land and take off during the race on the north-south runway) but I don't think it had been upgraded much since it was built for B17 and B24 pilot training. References have come from a couple of local Sebring historians, who said most of the lighting was on the start/finish and it was dark around the rest of the lap, but will reach out and ask them if they know of any other lighting - there's relatively few photos from the runways, let alone at night!

I was there in the 70's to watch the 12 hour. Except for the pit area, it was pretty dark elsewhere around the track. They had a small lamp at the entrance to turn seventeen (final hairpin leading onto pit straight) that indicated the begining of the turn. During the evening many drivers would miss the entrance and go way deep. If a line of cars came down the straight and the first driver missed the turn in, all of them would go way deep together. It was actually funny to watch as they missed the turn in and ran to the end of the runway.
