I've had one car for 18 years now. Standard transmission, low-end trim package, very few bells and whistles. Used car retail value is less than a family's full cart at a grocery store. But it works quite fine still. :)

Nice thing about EVs is that their drivetrains are so much simpler and more reliable than internal combustion ones. They consequently have dramatically lower long-term maintenance costs (not to mention never needing oil changes). And used ones are quite affordable these days.
