What a FANTASTIC episode, love when we delve into the realm of 'good vs bad' and what that all means within this universe. Can't believe we are so close to the end though, still doesn't feel real.

By the way the Kai account on twitter exist in reality @CobraKay1972 with that picture with Damon he took in the bar, but don't check it yet because there are some spoilers i they kept in in X, those are the little fantastic touches that the writers like to add to the fantastic entertaiment ths show is. I know Kai is infuriating an entertaining at the same time kudos to the actor, that made him so disturbingly funny. 😄

The guy that lost his badge because of Stefan compulsion, we saw him in season 4. When Stefan wanted to fix Elena vampirism because she dumped him, he went to the hospital looking for a murderer. He found one, and had this guy, this policeman, was outside the door. Stefan told him to take a break and of course he lost his job. The murderer inside the room is the guy that Stefan took to Jeremy to kill, to make his tattoo grow, triggering his hunter instinct, that lead in that episode, Jeremy stabbing Elena in the neck and wanting to kill her forcing Jeremy and Elena having to live separated. That is Stefan, his compulsions were self-interested, that is why the episode is title this, “the lie will caught up with you” because Stefan is the only one that lied to Elena at the beginning, that lie to himself about being the good brother, lie to the people around him without any care of what would happen and the consequences of his action. He ripper side it didn't happen because he had his humanity off, Stefan when he has his humanity off is in perfect control, his ripper persona happen ONLY when his humanity was on, and happen for psychological reasons, that Stefan never accepted his condition as vampire but at the same time because Stefan never bother to learn how to control his blood lust, because every time he did something bad, he blame it on Damon, he never face his problems, and at the same time, his smooth talking got him to be too easily forgiven. So, he never felt the need to work on himself, his victimhood attitude got him out of a lot of situations and kept his good brother persona intact. Damon on the contrary every single mistake he ever made had to atone for it for long time, everything he did, nobody wanted to do and needed to be done to keep people safe, he got tons of blame for it, all he have done to keep his brother childhood intact, had the price of being severely abused as child and not being allowed to have a childhood, he worked on his emotional outburst not to be a victim and conquered his dark side all by himself and never bragged about any good deed he did, never burden his brother or anybody else with his traumas. Damon season 8 has done all the work to deserve redemption. Also Damon never did any compulsion in Mystic Falls, that were not for good purpose, or for love, or that he already dealt with and apologise for, like making Elena forget they met not to insert himself in her life, of that he loved her, or making Jeremy forget because Elena asked him for, or making Caroline forget he was telling her all his secrets, but Caroline remembered when she because a vampire, same to Andy, but she is dead thank to Stefan etc. He never ever see during the entire show Damon using compulsion for selfish reasons, or that might have severe impact on someone’s life as Stefan did. That is another thing that separate the bothers. That is why if Damon decide to take the cure we would not see the consequences we saw with Stefan. The Fell girl he turned into a vampire during Miss Mystic Fall and that after he killed, that is another mess he made carelessly. That is why Stefan is the most brutal character of the entire TVD universe. His lack of self awareness needed to be addresses, because he never ask for forgiveness to anybody, he never work on himself as his brother did, he acted with brutal carelessness and never atone for it, and now that he realise how his actions impact his future potential redemption, now that his eternity is gone and death is a real possible impending thing and hell is a real consequence, he started to realise how important is to act selflessly, to be aware of how his actions impact others and how he should have work on his problems long ago and never did and now time is short and might not be enough. Everything in this show is connected, it's planted there for a reason, and it's there with an explanation that is coming out seasons after. All season 8 are connections that needed to get closure.

Some fans get angry when some of us mention Stefan’s shortcomings as if it's a bad thing when it is all the contrary. I will explain more in the series finale.

Kai is so funny 😂 can't help but love him but yeah he's a terrible person no doubt. I love his scenes with Damon they're so hilarious and interesting. Seeing Enzo come back and meeting Bonnie is the best thing to happen this episode it was so wholesome makes me cry. Love hearing your take on the good vs bad... this show is so good and the parallels to this season and season 1 infact the entire show is something so wonderful to see. Only 3 more to go is this real? 😔

this is late and youre probably not going to see it but this is what i love about stefan's journey as human. how it shows the amount of trauma and destruction that one vampire leaves behind. even if you have the best intentions, it doesn't matter. something so simple can cause so much damage. not only that but stefan always wanted to be human again and to discover that becoming human does not erase everything you have done, only makes you confront it. the pain doesn't go away just because you're not a vampire anymore. being human again doesn't fix things. and now stefan doesn't have immortality to try and make amends. now his time is limited so no matter how much he tries it will never be enough. its so unbelievably tragic.

Have you seen Kai in containment ? He’s a police officer and is very built! It was supposed to be a mini series but it could have been longer and maybe another season, I forget why it got shut down. Also, Saline or never you spell her name is the love interest!
