Lestat’s reaction to Louis struggling with his vampirism begs the question how did Lestat adapt to vampirism when he was turned? Did he embrace it fully immediately? Or was he also resistant to it? Is that why he’s annoyed with Louis, because he knows embracing it is inevitable?

that scene of lestat laughing at the ''arent i enough?'' makes me laugh cause its so unhinged but it also makes me so sad for louis. especially bc of something sam reid (lestats actor) pointed out in an interview. he said that louis saying that was his way of saying ''i love you'' in a way. expressing that he loves and cares for lestat without actually saying the words, cause he doesnt do that, the last person he said that to was paul right before he killed himself :( so lestat laughing in his face wasnt great 😭 but ive always interpreted it as lestat 1) thinking what louis said is ridiculous and 2) him being happy to hear louis actually express some amount of jealousy. lestat is someone who needs to HEAR that hes loved, and louis doesnt give him that.

i dont think lestat is just trying to mold louis into a new person, dont get me wrong hes most definitely extremely manipulative and i do think he expected him to be a certain way, but he loves louis. he knew louis for quite a while as a human, i think what he really wants is for louis to completely embrace his vampirism in the way he himself has, be comfortable in his own skin. he has a lot of lines that indicate that, even in the pilot during their little wedding (lmao what a wedding) he says ''be all the beautiful things that you are, and be them without apology''. even tho hes completely fucked he does love louis, he chose him for a reason. again, its still toxic and abusive but i dont think he just sees him as a plaything, he is his companion

You're right, I feel like I got caught up in my own issues with manipulation that it took over tbh 😂 I think it moreso feels like, while there are definately elements of Louis that he loves and thats WHY he picked him, I think he is still trying to mold those other areas. Like he wants the "perfect" partner, however that just does not exist
