Well, that was a painful episode 😭 opinion of Lestat has tanked, I just hope my babies can get away and don't get trapped Link 1 (Google Drive): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CH4X6p-y8YlQaSL0n880XK9cckujXvtB/view?usp=drive_linkLink 2 (Dropbox): https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/u13z7viv9e1n8wilewjdp/IWTV-S1E5.mp4?rlkey=mehzvhgpj5kd2vkp6zqhdinft&st=4o7cj2wy&dl=0Google Drive Tip: It takes time for Google Drive to process videos. If it says "still processing" or is only allowing you to view at 360p, then you can always come back later or download the video in fullDropbox Tip: The quality of the video is lower while streaming so I recommend downloading or using google drive if thats an issue

I do want to talk about the dining room scenery, but I'll save it for later. Maybe when we return to the floating bookcases discussion.

oh god idk if im ready, i love this episode but its such a tough watch. whenever i rewatch i usually skip the scene at the end its too much

i interpreted louis saying ''shes in there because of you'' as him saying how traumatizing the way lestat handled charlies death was for her, not him saying that charlies death was his fault bc of how he taught her to kill

j-l

still dont think its completely on lestat tho

i relate to feeling sick thinking ab the cannibalism but not about the blood lmao😭 i think its cause weve grown so used to the blood drinking through vampire media like you said, but also because we know vampires arent real, while cannibals very much are... like that shit happens irl

pretty sure claudia can hear the thoughts louis are sending her if shes listening. in the previous episode louis telepathically asked her who charlie was, then she blocked her thoughts off to him but you could still hear louis going ''claudia are you blocking me?'' in her head

i was always confused ab the ''you kill like a killer'' line claudia said to bruce, but i recently found out that its a reference to a character called killer from the books

This is a TOUGH episode no matter how often I rewatch it. AMC actually got a little flack for not warning for domestic abuse before the episode, but I understand why in the case of spoilers. Just to help with the timeline, you weren’t far off with the math! When Grace shows Louis his headstone, it said he died in 1930! You’ve honestly analyzed these characters so well, it’s awesome to see. So many people view them in ways I don’t understand, but I think you understand how they think and feel the best out of a lot of reactions to this show I’ve seen. These are characters who are, at their core, empathetic and very human in their struggle, but also monstrous in their actions and it’s important to see them for both parts! It doesn’t excuse their wrongs, but it’s important context. For example, Lestat IS abusive and wrong for what he’s done to Louis and Claudia. But it also doesn’t make him any less broken and a product of his own trauma.

i know a lot of lestat stans out there who try to justify the scene at the end and its insane to me. theres absolutely NOTHING that can excuse or justify it. its interesting bc a lot of ppl talk about how they love morally grey characters but then theyll go to the greatest lengths to defend them when they do something horrible. like this is a vampire show where all of them are fucked in some way, its okay to like characters who are bad people but it annoys me when they try to justify shit like this. i myself love lestat as a character, hes so well written and acted but i can at the same time see how awful he can be. i will neverrrrr forgive him for how he treated louis and claudia. my babies :(

''fun'' fact that i didnt notice on my first watch: the song playing at the end going ''home is where youre happy'' is by CHARLES MANSON who daniel mentioned earlier in this episode

Oh my god I didn't even think of that, you're right, it's cause there really are people out there who wanna do that 🤢

Ima sit down before the next episode and figure out a timeline for what I have seen so far, I think I'm only confusing myself at this point 😂 and definitely, it's incredible how they've managed to deal with issues so monstrous and inhuman, yet somehow make every one of them so humanly flawed. Incredible writing and acting, sucks how little I have heard about this show till now 😭 needs ALL the attention it deserves

Harry Allen

Oof, that sucks. I love him as a character and there are lots of ways to feel empathy for him, but you simply can't justify physical abuse, especially when it goes as far as it did. Seeing Claudia cowering in fear while Louis was telling her it would be okay 😭 Lestat has definitely fallen for me in my love of them
