Such a heartbreaking yet moving episode, Mrs Lee is my absolute MPV, what a gem of a human 😭Link 1 (Google Drive): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YFpV4APwWP_ZH5n8sJyV6MYhoMAQ4Gsz/view?usp=drive_linkLink 2 (Dropbox): https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/x6ou02kz3mc52gmake104/911-S2E12.mp4?rlkey=fu28tsv4m79zldk6xvmbgdx0n&st=fck0rb1b&dl=0Google Drive Tip: It takes time for Google Drive to process videos. Between last week's episode with Athena's mom and this episode with Chimney's dad, you might get why the fandom hates parents in this show - lol.

i adore this episode so much, it's probably one of my favourite begins eps, possibly even of the show overall. it's def in my top 3 episodes - i need them to have the director for this ep direct more episodes of the show so bad bc they had a VISION. this is one of the few times they get super creative w the cinematography and editing and the way they tell a story, and kenneth choi's (chimney's actor) acting rlly shines.

Honestly lmao, they all seem like awful examples of parenting 😭 makes our peeps even more special for how lovely they all are though

You could really feel that different direction, loved their take on the story!

oh this one still hurts so much! i just cried buckets rewatching it. kenneth choi is always so good at emotional scenes. no actor on this show makes me break as much as he does. mrs lee for mvp is so real! forever grateful for the love the lees have for chim. i appreciate eli so much too, the way he took chim in and taught him so much, but you’re right that the treatment from the others was personal and largely rooted in racism and it wasn’t just them not wanting to get close to people and lose them. even outside of the chinese food delivery guy comment which was overt, in hen begins which we know is years after this, chim says “you think they’re inviting the asian guy to their hangouts?” so this was a pattern that didn’t just end. it’ll never sit right with me that they had to prove themselves to even get a little bit of respect. it’s not about friendship, it’s about basic human decency.

I think this might be my fav Begins episode out of all of them. Kevin still makes me sob. The actor for Chimney really can get you crying instantly. I think that montage in the hospital was SO cool. Mrs Lee is my fav main character mum for sure. I don't know the pain of losing a child but I know someone in my life who does and I can't imagine how dreadful it was being in the same house as the Lees while all 3 of them grieve Kevin. I'm glad Mrs Lee has processed enough of her grief enough to see Chimney again by the end of the episode. As a side to everything you've said about the past team, I also do think a lot of it comes down to leadership influence. There's no way in hell any of them would be acting that way if Bobby was their captain. I'm so glad Chimney and Hen have a captain and a team they both deserve now.

I love the music in this show, and really noticed it in this episode. I feel like some shows have great soundtracks but are more focused on having current and "cool" music (which is good, discovering new music through shows is great!) 911 includes some huge hits from all eras, and seems more interested in music being lyrically relevant, often being funny or ironic. I don't know, it just feels a bit different to most shows right now and as someone who only watched for the first time a few months ago, I'm really noticing it while doing this rewatch.
