What an episode of television, safe to say my bar for quality TV has been raised by a mile. The sheer amount of things we explored this episode??? Fucking crazy!

Just editing the Question Time portion now, so will get it added on ASAP!

Yes the scar on his shoulder is the actor’s actual scar :) Hudson Williams got it from (playfully) fighting someone in a field lmao

Dxzzy

YES IT’S TIME TO WATCH PEAK 🔥🔥🔥

To answer a question you had towards the end, Shane is at his family’s cottage while he recovers from his injury, but he has his own one 10 miles away :) He mentions this in episode 4 when Ilya is watching that Architectural Digest or whatever video about Shane’s cottage

Regarding Ilya's financial status, while yes he was giving his brother Alexei a lot of money and clearly providing for the family in other ways, considering how much money professional hockey players make, I don't think he's necessarily hurting for money. I think its more of a mental and emotional strain than financial. And considering what we've seen of his father and their connections I don't think his family were hurting much for money to begin with. To me, it just seems that Alexei is an unrepentant leech and with their dad's declining health Ilya had to take over. But I doubt he's struggling money wise back in Boston. But I haven't read the books so I could be wrong!

I’ll never get tired of watching people react to this episode (also ep 6). It’s SOO powerful. I had a watch party at my house with friends the night this dropped and we all were screaming crying throwing up lmao. If you’re interested, either on the channel or on your own, Hudson and Connor (Shane and ilyas actors) have a lot of very insightful and funny interviews abt the show and their characters together. Another thing I love abt this show is the commitment and understanding of the material from everyone involved. Connor and Hudson TRULY get and understand their characters, as well as each others which adds to the chemistry on and off the screen. If you’re interested in a funny video of them, their ‘Reading Thirst Tweets’ and ‘Compliment Battle’ vids are HILARIOUS!!!!!! Hudson is a fucking menace and Connor is trying to constantly do damage control haha. If you’re interested in a more serious, insightful interview there’s this one: ‘Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams on intimacy, romance, and the female gaze’ https://youtu.be/e3J07h-ibCg?si=POidHFywGhsLfxC9 and also their extended Quinn interview (they narrated an audio erotica together on the Quinn app called ember and ice) and it’s a good balance of serious and funny https://youtu.be/HmVl7XBNEJE?si=JAMl-cspWe9eCX1l

37:12 “I think they’re going to break my heart by the end of this episode.” THANKFULLY it’s not that kind of show 🥹 One thing that I think Ilya might’ve struggled with re: not being able to go back to Russia would be never being able to visit his mom’s grave ever again (and now his father’s) and that devastates me. Also, lovedddd your discussion about language and second language. Such great thoughts.

ilya immediately going ''you dont like me'' in response to shane sharing his feelings for him and also turning away from him and saying sorry when he starts crying just tells you everything about how his family treats him :( hes not allowed to be vulnerable and genuinely doesnt believe anyone could love him... there are so many reasons why what he feels for shane is terrifying for him :( breaks my heart

j-l

as an autistic person hudsons performance as shane means the world to me. there are so many little details in his performance that make me feel like im looking in the mirror.

j-l

it would be so fun to see harry react to these if he feels up to it

Kristin

PS as someone who lost their mother at the same age as Ilya I truly appreciate how gently and thoughtfully you discuss his loss. You do it in other show reactions as well and it always touches my heart

sav

Yes im constantly checking everywhere for new reactions to Hudcon content they mean the world to me. I’ve never felt this way about western celebrities 😭😭

Emily Brown

FYI, the Skip romance is book one in the series. The title of their book is GameChangers, and now you see why! Scott’s bravery opens the door for all the other couples in the series. Heated Rivalry is book 2

Betty

Hudsons scar is from him play fighting someone at a barn party near some cows and splitting his skin on a rock. Pretty wild story 😂

Noora

Thank you so much for sharing your reactions to this! <3

Maria Hiendl

He has money. I think he has several sports cars at this time in the book

Elina

I love your reactions! You're so focused when you're watching and you notice so many details. I also really appreciate the pauses where you share your thoughts.

You may have already heard this, but Hudson Williams actually drew from his own life experience for his role as Shane. Hudson revealed that he based the character’s neurodivergent traits and mannerisms on his father, who is on the autism spectrum. He described him as a mechanical engineer and technical genius who excelled academically but struggled with social and emotional cues. Hudson mentioned he felt an immediate connection to the script and character because it felt like he was taking a 'page out of living my life with him'. ♥️

Louise Broadfield

i love your reactions they are really really good. the thing with his brother hating him. i have read both books and Ilya talks about how alexi is his father son and more like him. i think Ilya was mom favourite but it could just the vibe im getting. also SPOILER from the books Ilya thinks about the times he slept with his coach son a team mate sister a team mates girlfriend and his brothers girlfriend. i wonder if his brother knows this and is another reason why he hates him. yes Ilya really did like trouble as a teenager.

Kris

Since Ilya Rozanov is modeled after real-life elite NHL icons like Alexander Ovechkin, Jaromír Jágr, Teemu Selänne, and Ilya Kovalchuk, he would earn $8–$12 million per year. Shane’s base salary would mirror this elite range, however, he would have a significant financial edge through off-ice endorsements. So Ilya isn't financially struggling to pay their bills, but he is struggling with the resentment of being used and exploited. He’s essentially bought the comfort of those who should love him unconditionally at the cost of his own well-being. He’s more upset about the lack of genuine connection rather than the actual dollar amount.

Kris

Here's a Quick Timeline Update: February 2014-Scott & Kip Break-Up November 2016-Shane Leaves Ilya's House in Boston February 2017- (maybe late January)- Club Scene February 2017-(2 weeks later)- Rose & Shane Break-Up / All-Star Game June 2017-Scottt Hunter-Admirals Stanley Cup Win

Kris

I don't think that Rose is upset because she recognizes Shane’s authenticity. After nearly three months together, she’s seen his trustworthiness firsthand and knows he’d never manipulate or intentionally mislead her. She understands that he likely mistook a deep platonic affection for romantic love while navigating his own denial and confusion. Instead of feeling like a victim, Rose sees herself as a supportive partner in Shane’s journey of self-discovery and by choosing to remain best friends, she’s proving that their bond is built on genuine trust and support.

j-l

ive seen that yes <3 its very special and nice to hear him talk about. also, hudson has adhd, so even tho he doesnt know what if feels like living with autism he knows what its like to be neurodivergent, maybe that helped him connect with shane as well <3

Kris

I love how, Ilya takes the time to confirm the definition of 'compatible' and ensures Shane and Rose are no longer together before he acts on his feelings and/or touches Shane, It’s a masterclass in respecting boundaries, especially considering how much he hated their relationship. It shows that he cares more about doing right by Shane than just getting what he wants, revealing his true integrity as a partner.

Charlotte Webb

Ilya isn’t hurting for money lol, he’s a multimillionaire. You might be thinking of the very first episode when Ilya told his brother he didn’t have any more to give him, but that was right at the beginning of his rookie season. He’s now team captain.

EarthMix Stan

Please react to Hudson and Connor's interviews after the show like the compliment battle and reading thirst tweets :)) I think you'll really enjoy them and their personalities especially how unhinged Hudson is LOL

Facebitch

We have to get the finale today, right? 🤭

Silme Elen

Just a little tidbit. Remember the scene in episode 3, where Elena dances with Scott? She tells him that Kip deserves sunshine, and Scott deserves sunshine too. And when Scott wins the cup and everyone gets on the rink and he looks at Kip, the lyrics of the song that starts playing are "Give me your eyes I need sunshine". The title of this song is also the title of this episode, "I'll believe in anything." It's also the exact same song that plays at the beginning of episode 3, when we see Scott running.

laura moerenhout

This the one and only show I watch without looking at my phone. Amazing!

Eric Nord

Thank you for your thoughtful analysis. FYI - In the books, Ilya does own a number of expensive sports cars, so he isn't really poor. Although, I do think that he has given his family a very large amount of his earnings.

Kent Smither

A tiny moment that I haven't heard anyone comment about. As Shane enters the bar in his new "stylist-selected" clothes into the Tampa Bay bar, Ilya is clocking his entrance and after settling himself, he lifts his beer and under his breath says to himself, "Okay." It's a lovely little moment showing how he is handling his nerves and bracing himself to see where he and Shane stand now. I absolutely loved it.
