Episode 5: Cool Detail: When Hiscox talks to Benedict about how he had to end things with his mistress, he asks Benedict to join him for a drink as he has given up with trying to make a life with his lover in an unaccepting society. Benedict takes the glass but doesn’t drink and says “Not just yet.” showing that he’s not ready to give up on Sophie and is willing to make it work. I love this moment so much.

Episode 6: 1. Francesca’s scream is easily one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever heard in a TV show—Hannah Dodd, go get your Oscar girl! 🏆 How do you think this grief will affect Francesca’s story moving forward? Do you think this death will change fundamental parts of her character, like her love for music? The pianoforte was what truly jumpstarted their relationship, and their shared love for silence was their 'thing.' I doubt she’ll find comfort in the quiet anymore, considering John isn’t there to enjoy it with her. It feels like that silence would just be lonely now. 2. What did you think about how chill Sophie was when Benedict mentioned he’s been with guys? It felt like her being from a lower class and an outsider gave her a much broader worldview. Since she isn't tied down by the Ton's strict rules and 'proper' expectations, she just sees him for who he is without the judgment a typical debutante might have. Do you think her background is why she’s so unfazed by it? Cool detail: I love how they had John and Michaela place the last jigsaw piece together, symbolising they both played a part in the jigsaw that makes up Francesca’s life 🥺 Also, I love Colin being confused for majority of this season and his only focus is on being completely obsessed and enamoured with his wife 😂

Episode 7: Questions: From a narrative perspective, how do you think Eloise handled the situation when they were checking to see if Francesca was with child? Since Eloise has absolutely no understanding of how pregnancy actually happens, it must have been so confusing and jarring for her to watch. Even without knowing the technical details, she could clearly see the sheer discomfort and horror on her mother and sister’s faces, and it clearly signaled that something deeply painful was occurring. Also, how much does the narrative suffer from Daphne’s absence during this specific arc? It feels like a massive void in the show; Francesca is essentially lost, and she desperately needed her eldest sister—the one who actually knows how to navigate these specific, crushing feelings of realising you aren’t pregnant—to ground her. Does the story feel incomplete to you because that specific emotional support system is missing, and how much harder does that make Francesca’s isolation?

Episode 8: Questions: 1. Considering the fact that this season has clearly taken inspiration from the story of Cinderella and put a Bridgerton twist on it, is there any other Disney princess classics that you would be interested to see through the Bridgerton lens? I personally would love to see beauty and the beast Bridgertonised. 2. The revelation of Sophie as the "Lady in Silver" differs significantly between the show and the source material. In the book, the discovery happens in the nursery while Sophie is playing blindman’s buff with Francesca and the younger Bridgerton cousins. Seeing Sophie in a mask-like blindfold causes everything to click for Benedict. After getting Francesca to clear the room, his reaction is icy and borderline cruel. He confronts her with a cold fury that leads to an explosive argument, rooted in his feelings of betrayal over her long-term deception. Do you think the writers made the right decision to change this reveal, or should they have remained faithful to the book? I am personally torn between the two. I feel as though Benedict’s book-accurate anger may have made the audience develop a strong dislike towards him, potentially making Benedict and Sophie’s eventual resolution feel unearned or rushed. However, i also think the show’s version was a bit too subdued. It was strange to see Benedict not have much of a reaction when he was talking to Sophie about him finally knowing the truth. 3. Who do you think the new Lady Whistledown is? I have several theories after rewatching S4 so many times lol - Hyacinth: She has learned that maids are pretty much invisible to all high society at balls and so would now be able to sneak into them to get gossip. - Eloise: After Penelope reveals she is no longer Lady Whistledown, Hyacinth questions who will be lady whistledown now and Eloise’s facial expression is curious to me. She mentions other scandal sheets that Penelope put out of business… a cool plot-twist could be that she in fact used to be one of them? - Alice Mondrich: It could be her way of entertaining the queen and/or Alice and her are working together on whistledown? - Brimsley: Similar to Alice, he saw the way she was so lonely when her and Lady Danbury weren’t talking to each other and now she and whistledown are now gone, he may have taken up the mantle to keep Charlotte happy? However, I don’t how he would be able to get the gossip from the balls… My opinions: In regards to Eloise, I thought it was interesting to see her warm this season to the idea of marriage. Seeing everyone who’s closest to her, like Penelope and Colin, all get married, it’s led to Eloise feeling a bit isolated and not able to understand certain things they are talking about. Also, with John’s death (RIP), her helping Posy find her match, and her conversations with both Hyacinth and Cressida about the advantages of marriage, it’s clear that Eloise is not so against it anymore. Despite this, many still feel as though she is either totally against the idea of love and should be single, that she should be a lesbian as she’s a feminist or the show should bring back Theo as her love interest. However, I think that Theo was just used as a plot device to show that Eloise does want love, she just doesn’t want to be the conventional wife in high society. I love how as soon as Violet finds out that Benedict loves Sophie and that it isn’t some fling, she immediately locked in and fought for Sophie like she was her own daughter. She just wants her children to be happy and is truly the best mother ever.

Episode 6: Questions: When Anthony calls Benedict "foolish" for pursuing a servant, is he protecting the family name or acting out of jealousy for Benedict's romantic freedom? How do you feel about Anthony saying to Benedict that he will disown and cut him off?? Do you think Anthony said to Benedict was right because Anthony was just trying to protect the family name from being destroyed because he still has two sisters that need married?
