S8E6 Funfact: in ep 1 of 911 Abby mentions she just broke up with her fiancé, Tommy, as like a fly away line. When Buck and Tommy got together there was a head canon going around the fandom that wouldn’t it be funny if it was the same Tommy? Tim Miners saw this and loved it so he had it written into the show. Eddie dancing at the end of the episode was I think suggested by Kenneth, as a reference to Ryan dancing in the step up movies. He is a really good dancer so he tried to make Eddie look a bit uncoordinated on purpose 😂 We also figured out that Buck and Tommy were breaking up in this episode, because one of the stills that dropped before the episode aired, was Buck from the break up scene wearing what we call “break-up green”, it’s the same color he wore when he broke up with Taylor and Eddie also wears green when he broke up with Ana. So we were like haha they wouldn’t and then they actually did exactly that lol Questions: 1.Why do you think Eddie is so quick to jump to Defence when being flirtet with from a guy ? I feel like he doesn’t even allow himself to think he may be attracted to men, so he shuts down any thought in that direction immediately. 2. Do you think there’s a significance of Eddie mentioning his best friend before his girlfriend when listing the people he lied to about Kim? Like he cheated on Marisol (even if nothing physically happened, i still count it as emotional cheating) but he somehow finds it worse that he lied to Buck about it? 3. Tommy should know by now that Buck absolutely does not care about basketball, i just feel like that’s another indication that he doesn’t really listen to Buck. Do you think he was testing Buck when he told him he could go with Eddie instead? And how happy Buck seemed at that possibility may have been a push to break up with him? When Tommy says “You will end up breaking my heart” and “I am your first not your last” I feel like he thinks that maybe Buck has feelings for Eddie and he’d rather not be there to see that play out? 4. Do you think Buck is falling into old patterns with his abandonment issues, where he can feel Tommy pulling away so he jumps 3 steps ahead and asks him to move in as a desperate attempt to fix something? I also want to apologize if my questions are a bit confusing, English is not my first language so sometimes it’s a bit difficult to translate everything i am thinking perfectly :)

EPISODE 6: 1.When Tommy said at their anniversary dinner about the basketball game “You can take Eddie……and die”, did you think that was POINTED the way I did? Especially later when he broke up with Buck because he’s his first and not his last. Do you think Tommy knows/thinks something? I’m a huge fan of Buck being bi and Buck exploring his sexuality I’d just wish they did it with a better character than Tommy. He was just kinda *there*. He treated Buck (especially in that last episode) as more of nuisance than anything else. He got him tickets to a basketball game knowing that Buck doesn’t even like basketball for their sixth month anniversary. Also, if he knew this whole time that “I’m your first not your last” why did he string Buck along the whole time? 2.Did you clock that as soon as Eddie said he was straight, the priest said continued to say he was hiding behind a mask? Everything is purposeful with this show

EPISODE 9 Do you think Eddie will actually move to El Paso and what kind of storyline do you think that could bring if so? Do you think that maybe instead of being impulsive Eddie should actually TALK to Chris instead of avoiding the elephant in the room(Kim/Shannon)Do you think that Eddie should just go to Texas and bring his son home instead of this whole song and dance? Buck and Eddie have such a special bond and what they’re willing to do for each other makes me cry. Buck helping Eddie with the house situation and financial burden so he could go be with Chris because they’re so important to him. That’s my family 😭 That look of love and fondness Eddie had when he realised what Buck had done. I feel pretty bad for Buck, even if he was being messy because he’s already lost Chris now he’s gonna possibly lose Eddie.

Episode 6 Question 1: Eddie's story this episode was about the fact that he has been denying himself true joy and wearing a mustache "because he can't have a beard." Buck's breakup with Tommy is because Tommy is "his first, not his last." Do you attribute any symbolic significance to the fact that just as Eddie is embracing joy at the end, and Buck is dealing with the loss of his relationship, they end up -- inevitably -- together? Do you think there is any significance to the fact that in an episode called "Confessions," Buck and Eddie don't say one word to each other? Question 2: When Buck first said he had something to talk to Tommy about, Tommy looked nervous, like he thought a breakup was imminent. However, he was caught off-guard by the Abby of it all. What do you think Tommy thought Buck was going to say? By claiming that he's Buck's "first," Tommy seems to imply that Buck's "last" will also be a man. After all, Buck has had many "firsts" with women, pre: Tommy. So what do you think was Tommy's full intent behind that sentiment? Question 3: Following the breakup, Tommy calls Buck "Buck" instead of "Evan" for the first/only time. What do you think the significance of that is? Is he just letting go of his intimacy with Buck, or is he finally waking up to who Buck really is? (To quote Buck talking to his parents in S4, "The people who know me call me Buck.") Question 4: While I can't find the exact stat, someone calculated that about 80+% of all Buck and Tommy scenes up to their breakup were either in Eddie's presence or about Eddie. For example: -Their first kiss where they'd been talking about Eddie right before -The first date that Eddie interrupted -The bachelor party where Tommy had to leave and Buck/Eddie spent all night in their matching costumes -The hospital + wound care scenes from last episode -Even their six-month anniversary dinner, where Tommy said that Buck could take Eddie to the basketball game Even though Eddie was originally friends with Tommy first, we didn't see any solo scenes between Eddie/Tommy after Buck/Tommy got together either. Why do you think the show focused on all three of them together so often instead of letting Buck and Tommy or even Tommy and Eddie have more solo time? Question 5: Josh's speech to Buck is interesting for several reasons. For one, Buck's weirded-out face when he's asked if he loves Tommy. Given that he was willing to say he loved Abby and Taylor (whether or not that was true - obviously, both relationships were highly flawed), what do you think his reaction meant for his relationship with Tommy, realistically, even if Tommy hadn't broken up with him? Also, the series of questions Josh asked afterward - what do you think was their narrative purpose when Buck and Tommy break up right afterward? Are they questions that can be applied to other relationships moving forward?

Episode 6: Fun fact: Father Brian is the same priest that Bobby used to speak to in S1. He has since been nicknamed: Hot Priest Brian. Questions: 1. Sometimes I feel like 9-1-1 can feel really busy because they try to focus on too many storylines at once. Even though Hen, Bobby, and Athena didn’t feature in this episode it gave space for Maddie/Chim, Buck, and Eddie to have storylines that breathe. What do you think of that approach? 2. What do you think Eddie’s path to embracing joy looks like? 3. Maddie had mentioned in the past how Buck is a “clinger” in relationships when there’s evidence that it’s doomed. Do you think that is what is happening here with Tommy and asking him to move in? 4. What do you think of Josh’s speech about a pre and post-Glee world? Do you agree that you don’t judge the people before you? 5. Madney baby! Thoughts on the concerns raised by Chimney and Maddie? I love their communication. 6. In Tommy’s breakup speech he talks about knowing Buck would break his heart and that he is Buck’s first not his last. How much of that do you think is about Buck specifically? Do you think Tommy entered this relationship knowing it wouldn’t last? Discussion: 1. I find it interesting that Eddie turns to his Catholic roots not for absolution but for punishment. 2. If you notice, in an episode called “Confessions” Buck and Eddie don’t talk all episode long and don’t share any scenes together unless their at work, until the end and they just sit on Eddie’s couch. 3. Buck and Eddie lying to each other is their biggest faux pas, according to them. Buck brought it up when he spoke to Maddie about being caught on a date with Tommy and now Eddie brings it up in relation to what happened with Kim. ***NOTE: Gonna mention here, that I suggest watching episodes 9/10 back to back and episodes 14/15 back to back for this season. ***

Episode 7: Fun fact: You had asked before and never answered, 9-1-1 does have a retired Fire Chief as a consultant on the show. 1. Where do you think we go from here with Athena? She's undercover, but hasn't wanted to promote herself further. Do you think she makes a good training officer? 2. How do you feel about Brad and his involvement with Bobby and by extension the 118? 3. I love seeing uncle Buck with Jee. Thoughts on Buck's new baking habit? 4. Do you think Eddie and Tommy will remain friends? Discussion: Here is something that I've noticed, that every time Buck has "upgrade" (his words) or major life event, he immediately enters a new relationship. Buck 1.0 had Abby, Buck 2.0 had Ali, Buck 3.0 had Taylor, Buck 4.0 (after the lightning) had Natalia, Buck 5.0 Tommy. Almost like, he keeps reinventing himself in a belief that it'll make him a worthy partner and it is reinforced because all these previous partners have pursued him. Do you think Buck knows what he wants for himself in a partner?

episode 9 do you think buck intentionally sabotaged the house viewings or was it more subconscious? i think he genuinely looked confused when eddie brought it up so i don’t think he went into them with a plan in mind at all. also those people had to assume they were partners selling their home together (especially with how much lore buck knew). there’s no way they didn’t.

Episode 8 1. Do you think Buck has kept in contact with Christopher while he’s been gone? 2. The way the first scene where the 118 go around and say what is not realistic, is very meta on some of the critiques made of the show. 3. Brad is a bit of a clown but I think ultimately his heart is in the right place. Were you surprised that Eddie confided in Brad and vice-versa? 4. New vocal stim unlocked: “What are you looking at, Eddie?” So what do you think goes through Buck’s head when he’s on the couch? Fun fact: Buck and Eddie keep your day jobs lmao. Many of the people in the background of the filming for Hotshots, are people who actually work on the 9-1-1 show. By the way, Episode 9 will have a call with a dog. No, the dog doesn’t die.

Episode 9 Fun fact: this episode is actually based on a true story of a serial killer that would call 911 weeping. 1. Honestly, we have to ask ourselves, why was Buck there while showing the house? Interesting that they chose to show how intimately acquainted Buck is with the Diaz house. 2. Buck’s abandonment issues and RSD are definitely rearing their ugly heads but also, is Eddie jealous of a dog? I like how Eddie is ultimately understanding of why Buck would feel a certain way about him leaving but doesn’t hold back on calling Buck out when he spirals. Eddie mentions that this is also a difficult decision for him. However, I do think it’s worth noting that Eddie seems to prefer for Buck to be angry with him and take it out on him than for Buck to distance himself. At least that was my takeaway of their last scene. 3. Also, why would Eddie think Buck was asking Eddie to choose between Buck and Chris? I wish I could crack Eddie’s mind open and see how he is processing these choices. For example, it seems Eddie expects Buck to run things by him but doesn’t reciprocate. Shannon once mentioned that Eddie tends to make decisions that impact many people around him without talking anything through. That Eddie knows best. Do you think this applies here?
