EPISODE 10: What did you think of that awkward/romcom-esque goodbye scene between Buddie where they just didn’t know what to do with themselves/their hands? Buck and Eddie do NOT have a normal friendship. Like you ain’t gonna catch Chimney/Hen acting like that.

Episode 11 Do you think that Buck was being 100% honest in his conversation with Maddie or do you think that there’s a possibility he’s in denial? The way Maddie looked at him seemed to imply the latter. The Buck/Buddie of it all this episode was kinda insane tbh. Because what do you mean you asked your co worker out for drinks and did nothing but speak about Eddie (He said his name 15 times, it’s a hilarious fun fact). What do you mean you hooked up with your ex because you were lonely and missed Eddie? What do you mean your only defence to Tommy was that “Eddie is straight and a renter” and not “No I’m not in love with him? Tommy’s scoff at Buck saying Eddie was straight was definitely interesting..it also proved that he thinks Eddie is Buck’s last and that’s why he broke up with him in episode 6. He was only willing to try again because Eddie wasn’t in the picture. Fun facts: Aisha Hinds who played Hen directed this episode.

Episode 11: Question 1: What where your first impressions of Bobby's mom and brother and did your opinion change by the end of the episode? Question 2: How did you feel about Athena's reaction to meeting Bobby's family members. Question 3: Do you feel Buck was being honest with himself when he claimed that he didn't have to want to sleep with everyone he has feelings for? And do think he realized what that statement could mean? Question 4: What opinion do you think Maddie has of the Buck and Eddie thing both before and after the conversation about what happened with Tommy? Question 5: Do you think we will see Tommy again, and how do you think that would play out if we do?

Episode 10 1. Do you think it’s fair that Chimney entertained the idea that Maddie would leave her family again? 2. What do you think Eddie meant when he said “it’s not nothing” when Buck mentioned that Eddie is behaving like moving to Texas is nothing? 3. I love these moments when we see the 118 rally around each other and show up where it counts. Everyone out either looking for Maddie or supporting Chim at home with Jee. Not really a question just a thought I wanted to share. 4. Eddie says, “This whole thing between us, has been messy and hard” what thing Eddie?! How did you feel about the ending scene between Buck and Eddie?

Episode 11 Fun fact: Aisha Hinds, who plays Hen, directed this episode marking her directorial debut. Note: the last scene of the episode with Athena leads to a crossover episode with Doctor Odyssey (another Ryan Murphy show). No need to watch it. 1. It can be argued that Buck is in denial over Eddie, but I at the very least, like that we are not addressing it through the typical trope of the queer friend falling for their seemingly “straight” best friend. Do you think Buck is in denial or he truly doesn’t think he’s in love with Eddie? 2. Buck going through a crisis over Eddie while his sister was kidnapped and had her throat slashed lol. Time and place, sir! Bless Maddie for her patience. That look she gave Buck in the kitchen spoke volumes. Do you think she suspects? To remind you, right after Buck's first date with Tommy ended badly, Buck came to Maddie concerned because he had lied to Eddie and after Maddie found out it was about Buck dating a guy she said, “if there’s something you need to tell Eddie you’ll do it when you’re ready.” Do you think she was alluding to more than just Buck coming out to Eddie? 3. So this is another instance of a parental figure being redeemed in 9-1-1. How do you feel about Bobby’s relationship with his mother? Is it truly redemption or is it Bobby accepting that this is who his mom is and not expect anything more from her, he’s just content to have her back in his life at all? 4. We find out in this episode that Buck didn’t even make it through a whole shift without warming up to Eddie when he first joined. Did you think it had taken longer prior to that disclosure in this episode? 5. What do you think of Ravi’s character? Even though we haven’t learned a lot about him, my takeaway is that he’s the audiences point of view. He sees how ridiculous Buck and Eddie are (particularly Buck) and doesn’t entertain it. And with the 118, it seems so far he’s excelled in maintaining a boundary so they’re not overly involved or informed about his life. 6. Buck Don’t Talk About Eddie Challenge: FAILED! Can you blame Ravi for passing Buck off? 7. Do you think it’s significant that the first time Buck was able to sleep at Eddie’s house was when he slept with Tommy? 8. Do you think Tommy meant that Eddie was competition for Buck’s affection or that Eddie had a shot with Buck if he chose to take it? 9. I never really liked Tommy. I generally found him really condescending when he spoke to Buck. Regardless, I do have to judge him on principle that he wanted to date Buck again (going so far as to have champagne in the freezer and a full breakfast) while recognizing that Eddie was competition. Did he really think that putting Eddie in that light would win him favor with Buck? Is now Buck worthy of a second chance? 10. Buck saying, “him feeling threatened by what me and Eddie have” What do you and Eddie have, Buck?! This is the first time that Buck and Eddie’s relationship has been questioned so explicitly. By the way, behind the scenes and in promo, prior to this season, the show had been very intentional to not use Buddie for clicks or question the actors explicitly as to the potential romantic relationship they could have. For example, Ryan (who plays Eddie) always referred to Buck and Eddie's relationship as "brothers". That being said, at this point, I feel like Buck is holding on to Eddie’s straightness harder than Eddie would. Do you think that this is a tactic Buck is employing to squash any hope or notion that a romantic relationship could evolve between them?

episode 11 in this episode buck admits that he was using tommy because he didn’t want to be alone and that he doesn’t have feelings for him which is interesting since post breakup he kept going on about wanting to call him. somehow all it took was eddie leaving to change that. buck also smiled when tommy mentioned that eddie hadn't talked to him at all since their breakup. why do you think buck was happy to hear that those two were no longer communicating?

Episode 11 QUESTION 1: The showrunner of 911 said that the line that was most important to him for this episode was Buck's "I don't have to sleep with everyone I have feelings for, and I don't have to have feelings for everyone I sleep with." Tommy obviously took offense at the last part since it implied that Buck slept with him without having any lingering feelings for him, but presumably the first part was about Eddie. Even though Buck was somewhat in denial in this episode, do you think that part of him does suspect that he has deeper feelings for Eddie, but won't let himself consciously acknowledge it for fear of rejection? QUESTION 2: Tim Minear (showrunner) also said that the Eddie / Abby parallels were meant to be really strong in Eps 10-11 and that he even wanted to put a more explicit reference into this episode. If you remember, Abby and Buck also spent her penultimate episode looking for a lost relative (Abby's mother) and then Buck moved into Abby's house while she traveled. Even the framing of Buck watching Eddie go was very similar to the framing of the shot when Abby left him at the airport. However, in Abby's case, she never looked back - and Buck stayed in her home under the false impression she would return. In Eddie's case, he did look back, and Buck is staying in Eddie's place to solidify his leaving. Why do you think this parallel was important? Do you believe that Eddie will come back? QUESTION 3: As some other comments mentioned, Buck said "Eddie" 15 times this episode, breaking his previous record (which was the episode he and Tommy started dating, LOL, where he said it 11 times). (People watching live turned it into a drinking game.) Some other details hidden in this episode -- the story that Buck is telling Ravi about the time that Eddie took the tire/boot off the car was in reference to the basketball game that Tommy bought them tickets for (for their anniversary, where he joked that Buck could take Eddie). Given this and Buck's general response to Tommy in this episode, does it retroactively shed light on their 6-month relationship?

Episode 12 Fun fact: the costume designer (ABP) has been lauded for their intentional choices on what characters are wearing on the show to enhance storytelling in subliminal ways. In this episode, it’s noteworthy that Eddie when trying to show he has his shit together, is dressed like he did when he was in Texas in the flashback in “Eddie Begins” and in season 2 (for example: plaid button downs, hair slicked back) when he first got to LA. This is also mirrored in the 911 call from the boy and his dad: he moved for work and now needs help. Dad is also wearing a plaid shirt with hair slicked back. Also, while FaceTiming in Eddie’s car, Buck on the screen and Chris in the picture next to the phone (circa S2 but not an outfit we ever saw on the show) are wearing the same color of blue. ABP has mentioned that each character has their own color palette. Fun fact: we just recently learned that Eddie was supposed to have a storyline while in Texas of becoming a cop (since he couldn’t be a firefighter). There were a couple of reasons why that didn’t come to fruition and thank god it didn’t. 1. Do you think that Maddie rushing back to work was the right move? Sort of like exposure therapy. 2. What do think about the fact that Bobby mentioned to the Captain in El Paso that Eddie always has a spot open at the 118? Do you think Bobby is confident Eddie will be back? 3. How do you feel about us getting this look at Eddie’s life in El Paso? In this episode, we see how Helena has a passive aggressive tendency to steamroll any pushback over choices she deems incorrect. You see it with Chris when he was thinking about installing the PS5 at Eddie’s place. How do you think this type of parenting affected Eddie growing up? 4. Did it sound to you that Ramon’s comment to Eddie of “he’ll come around. You did.” Is confirming that by Helena and Ramon keeping Chris with them was a way to lure Eddie back to Texas? 5. I love seeing Chim be such a supportive partner to Maddie. I do find it interesting that it’s in an episode where Buck is able to be that support to Eddie with losing his voice against his parents and not being truthful with Chris. 6. I love when we get to see these vulnerability within Athena and that she was able to instill some confidence within Maddie. It also shows how PTSD, grief, etc. don’t always manifest themselves right away. I think 911 does excel on circling back to moments that would’ve affected certain characters.

Episode 13: Fun fact: This episode originally wasn’t supposed to exist, it was written last minute to give us more Eddie & Chris and check in with Hen (which we hadn’t had much story with) before the two parter 14&15. Personally, I think it was very well written…I hadn’t felt so many different emotions in one episode in a while. Fun fact: Oliver (Buck) was so excited to use the battering ram to bust open the door! He ended up hitting the camera lens during one of the takes. It is very true to life with how excited firefighters get when they get to use any kind of tool to hit something while on a call (battering ram, sledgehammer, axe, etc.) Fun fact: Bucks contact picture Eddie has saved for him was from the scene in Maddie’s kitchen where she questioned him about being in love with Eddie. Makes you wonder if Maddie texted that to Eddie. 1. Were you surprised in seeing Buck and Eddie interact this much considering Eddie moved away? 2. Eddie mentions wanting Chris to ask him if he wants to move in and waiting till he does. Eddie wants “it to be his choice”. I wonder how much Eddie hides his own wants out of shame and guilt where he doesn’t see himself worthy of asking for what he wants. Or maybe it’s that he wants people to ask to show they care…maybe in an effort to not burden them with his wants and needs. What do you think? I also wonder how much of that instinct was reinforced by his parents and is now being passed down to Chris. 3. Not gonna lie, your family forgetting your birthday hits like a punch to the gut. I understand, people being busy, but if you can have picture day on the calendar you can have your wife’s birthday on there! Honestly, this whole storyline made me want to cry. How do you feel about the rest of the firefam forgetting (with Eddie and Athena being the exception)? 4. Helena has mastered the art of passive aggressive communication, criticizing everything Eddie does, and guilt tripping your own son. We haven’t seen Eddie’s sisters (he has two younger sisters). Do you think that’s a reason they’ve stayed away? 5. Helena and Ramon always find a way to undermine and criticize Eddie’s parenting so often that it makes Eddie constantly second guess if he is a good father. How meaningful do you think it is for Buck to reassure Eddie since he isn’t a father himself? 6. What are your thoughts on Hen commiserating with Archie, the guy they kept rescuing this episode? 7. What do you think of Eddie telling Chris to move in with him rather than waiting for Chris to ask? I almost cried at the fact that Chris felt like Eddie didn’t want to be his dad anymore. How did we end up here?! 8. Ballroom dancer Eddie! Is it a surprising fact? What about Helena and Ramon reenforcing that the only way to have an extracurricular activity is if you win? I appreciate that his parents are not redeemed. Their flaws are still present and Eddie is aware of them.
