If you look back at previous episodes, with the knowledge from this one.... you can see where Derek has a habit of getting a bit rougher with people who hurt kids, as well as displaying more anger during those cases. I always thought it was just being hurting kids is about the lowest you can go, but this episode gave me a whole new perspective to what he was feeling during those cases.

it might have come up in 9-1-1 about outfits and their colours having meanings, but not sure if that's what you're referring to lol. that's the only other recent thing i can think of where it might have come up about "matching" clothes.
