Dropbox Tip: The quality of the video is lower while streaming so I recommend downloading or using google drive if thats an issue

Yes Abbot does have a military background as he is a war veteran. It’s one of the reasons he’s good with dealing with the pressure of the mass casualty because he’s used to doing it in a combat zone and most likely why he was up on the roof near the start of ep 1 when he couldn’t save a fellow veteran and expressed that in the letter that he wrote. He is honestly amazing and that’s why he is one of my favourites. Shawn Hatosy who plays him is such a good actor! I felt for Robby so much in this episode, dealing with everything he has up till now and then doing his very best to save Leah. The breakdown was inevitable but it breaks my heart to see it every time. Noah Wyle man, such an amazing actor for having to play that. Again a reason that Robby is also one of my favourites too. I also loved the moment of Abbot reprimanding Santos but then whispering her some praise, another reason why I love him so much!

Really good catch on the lack of education on what we would call combat or backwoods medicine (bare bones). It’s definitely a point they try to make that as new healthcare workers enter the field, techniques that were created and practiced in odd places are just as important. You don’t know what you don’t know until you need to know it! That’s why hospitals try to bring in EMT/Paramedics from the field into a hospital setting to work as nurses and doctors because we are used to making things work with less resources. Same with Army Medics.
