Stefan is realistic too. You can't take away people's choices just because you claaim to love them. Stefan offers that, Damon does what he wants. And of course these fangirls would support him in everything he does, no matter how bad. You are right, Harry, Stefan has a great perspective of letting people live their lives

Abhi Subedi

Stefan told many times he did not want Elena to give up. He is just saying here that he will let her decide. Forcing a woman to do what you want just because you think you love her is pathetic. Stefan was not saying, go die, he was showing her how to live a life. Man, these one dimensional people obsessed with Damon don't think lol. This whole thread is about how Damon is this great guy, huh? Insane lmao

Patpet

No you don't understand the characters motivations you just go with your childish stan for Stefan. Please do not write under my comments. We are already in season 5. Your silly comments that don't give any objective analysis of the characters are not interesting to me. Make your own comments please.

Maribel Humble

Abhi Subedi, yes, Stefan is being unrealistic. You are going in blind by looking at this situation exclusively from a romantic relationship perspective. Nobody will let a loved one die just because they choose to, especially someone like Elena, who wanted to die due to her survival guilt. I never saw a husband, a sibling, or a parent letting someone they love die because they want to. In a situation like Elena’s, those people will do the contrary to what Stefan did in this episode. Please look closer at Stefan and Damon's conversation when the brothers were outside the boarding house. You mention Damon’s stan, but the irony is that Stefan’s stan doesn't understand Stefan either because if they did, the majority of what they say would be put to rest. There is a point and hidden meaning to TVD story, and once you get it, you will see the beauty of the story. Here is a hint: TVD is Stefan’s story.

Abhi Subedi

In a real-life situation, people get institutionalized for that. And Stefan was trying to show Elena has a choice which clearly you people keep on missing while trying to focus solely based on how Damon sees things. You clearly are a Damon stan and have seen a lot of comment trying to justify everything he does. I am not a Stefan stan, I only said Stefan offered her choice while Damon keeps on taking that away. LOL, this is not a one perspective show just because it is Stefan's story, it's his story does not mean he is the only one telling a story. Damon and STefan's conversation? LOL. That has nothing to do with what I said.

Abhi Subedi

Patpet, this is not your Patreon that you ask people naively to not comment on. I will comment where I want. Just because I don't stand behind your insane one-dimensional viewpoint on Damon does not mean I don't understand the motivations. It's not that hard of a show to understand lol. You literally are pressing your one-dimensional thought process while stanning Damon and criticized everything Stefan does has no right to call anyone uninteresting. Imagine being a fanboy and shouting at others what they don't understand lmao. This is hilarious

Abhi Subedi

Dude has not given one logical point and all his comments are backing Damon no matter what he does and he has the audacity to claim it makes any sense other than his constant obsession to show how Damon is right when half the show he is wrong. Form good opinions, not just stanning a character because he is hot. Typical fangirl thing.

Patpet

@AbhiSubedi I am not your dude and this is MY comment. are you capable to write comments on your own without your stupid comments ringing as notification in my mail at any time of day and night. Now I'll report you.

Maribel Humble

@Abhi Sudeni, what is hilarious is that the joke is on you. I said that TVD is Stefan’s story for a meaningful reason which I will explain in the series finale. The conversation between Damon and Stefan IS essential, but you seem entangled with animosity. TVD is a beautiful story about the Salvatore brothers, and if many of the comments seem to call Stefan out, there is a reason for that, and once you understand it, you will see the beauty of the story.

Abhi Subedi

I was only calling out people like Patpet who is so into just one side that he totally becomes a one-dimensional person. He focuses on literally one side of the conversation and can't think outside the box of what's even logical. Dude has the audacity to whine about someone else's opinions while saying don't talk to me like this is his patreon lmao. I understand both Damon and Stefan are complex people, but people like him seem to understand just one's point of view. It's crazy to me.

Abhi Subedi

Patpet, lmao. You are a hypocrite. Stop being this double standard, kid. I can reply to whoever I want. if you get a noti, that is your problem. I have the right to call out someone as one dimensional as you are.

Abhi Subedi

Maribel, and no, you did not just say this is Stefan's story, but you naively went on to say he is being unrealistic the way he gives choices to people. That there is failing to understand a complex character in Stefan and just focusing on one pov. There is a reason for that. That right there is not understanding the beauty of a story and constantly whining about Stefan's choices which actually are healthy. This in no way is a way to criticize how Damon operates, but just calling people like you out who fail to understand the point and difference between the two. Do not lecture me on anything when you clearly have no idea about any of this.

Maribel Humble

Abhi Subedi, it is comical telling someone they don't understand anything about the show and when your comment is not clear due to grammatical errors.

Patpet

@Adhi Subedi said the rude ignoramus stalker that cannot even understand when is not welcome to write under a comment because has to make herself visible at all cost, nobody cares for your rudness, your bulling behavior and even more for your boring blabbing. I told you, Harry told you, Maribel told you, how many people you need to tell you, you are unwanted before you get it in your head of stalker? Do you know the definition of a stalker? I guess not, "a person who harasses someone with unwanted and obsessive attention" and that is you. You know by law what counts as harrasment? No? Bulling, cyber stalking, sending abusive messages when the person clearly said that doesn't want that person messages, that is you, again. How many times I told you I don't want your notice in my mail ringing in my phone day and night? Are too far gone mentally that cannot possibly help by stalking people that are not interested in having your harrassing messages in the mail? I am the one that needs help, are you sure?

Anaïs

Oh well, this comment section is a mess, I'm a bit late but I have to agree with you @Adhi. Feel like a lot of Damon stans justify him too much, Elena isn't suicidal, she initially was ready to be sacrificed since she didn't had a choice but Elijah gave her one, which she took, Damon just didn't believed in it and messed it up as usual. Stefan had to live with the guilty conscience of turning his brother into a vampire and even Damon made him believe he instigated Katherine's death, Stefan knows about guilt and regret, he knows better than to take someone's choice away again specially a loved one like Elena. Stefan is actually quite realistic imo.

nennu

Wow I love the observations you are making of Klaus so far, especially with how he wants to be in control and will just take whatever he wants because he can. And how his face drops when things don't go his way. Those are very good points to make about him from just this episode, very impressive! 😄 I also absolutely love the actor who plays him, Joseph Morgan, i think he nails this role. Can't wait for the next one :D things are gonna get interesting

Patpet

First of all, I would like to point out that if it wasn’t for Damon everybody would be dead already, Stefan, Bonnie, Caroline, Tyler and Katherine. The difference in the way Stefan, Damon and Elena love. What is closer to reality? Now, let’s imagine the love of your life is in a life and death situation and tells you: “I’ll probably going to die and it is my life and respect my choice” Would you really say: “Sure dear, do what you want and if you die, well you’ll be dead” and shrug your shoulder as Stefan did. Or you would be crazy with desperation because even the small chance that the person you love like nobody ever, would be very likely dead? Damon reaction is certainly impulsive and it took Elena’s choices away but is most certainly the most understandable and relatable. You wouldn’t let the love of your life commit suicide without trying everything in your power to save that love and imagine to be a vampire and feeling that desperation 10 times more. Elena loves Stefan, but the point is that she doesn’t love him enough to see that being with him is worth to loose those choices you have as human, in her mind being with him for eternity isn’t an idea that she can see, she doesn’t envision a long run future with him because her wanting to be human is much stronger than her love for him. To the one million question do you want to be with Stefan forever?Elena’s answer is no. The last conversation Tyler and Caroline had she slam the door to his face, she was very hungry with him. So, he assumed he burn bridges with everybody, Caroline, Elena, the Salvatore’s. Also not being in control of his werewolf side would have put his mom and others in danger. That is why he left. But Caroline is not someone to hold grudges for long, especially because Tyler and her had a special bond over his first transformation and h is not a secret that he is attracted to her since he kissed her and confessed to Matt he fall for her. Joseph Morgan is doing Klaus like no other, he is very charming but, he can look at you with a smile and one second after dropping his face and kill you. The Originals and the Salvatores, have more in common that it appears. We already saw a parallel be drown, between the two sets of brothers, parallel you should keep in mind, when the story unravels, because one of the themes of the show is mirrors lives, like Elena and Katherine and the difference in life choices. Liz straggle and not only Liz’s. Another important theme of the show is racism, vampires especially are an allegory for any form of racism that people have to overcome in order to be a real decent human being, to a real community and learn to accept people that are different from what you’ve always known. If you think about that south states of USA (where Mystic Falls is, not by chance), you can understand that racism has made some progress but is still very much present. It is difficult to overcome the prejudice, when those prejudices are passed from generation to generation. Also when the motivations are an excuse for control of power. The founders eliminated the vampires in town and took their wealth and possessions. The main family behind this was the Lockwood, the werewolves. Often in cinema the werewolves are used as an allegory for Nazism, a connection that the writers that are way too knowledgeable and educated, is impossible are not aware of. The parallel between Nazism real motivation, which was to erase the economic power Jewish people had, here even if it is just lightly mentioned it is there, nevertheless. The allegories used to represent the straggle to overcoming racism, the control the dark side of economic power and erase the fight for the supremacy of one race over the other, it is very much one of the many themes of TVD.

I can understand how all of them chose the path they did and agree that Stefan's way is VERY unrealistic however I just can't agree with taking Elena's choices away from her. The idea of someone just not listening to you and disregarding your choices in favor of what they want (he wants her to be in this world with him) just feels so icky to me. So far as we have seen Elena does not seem suicidal in the sense that she no longer wants to live, she is trying to save everyone by sacrificing herself which may be EXTREMEMLY hard for Damon to take but it is her choice and I just can't accept him taking away her life (as she sees being human as her life and vampire as not) to save it ya know.

Patpet

I agree, and he knows he screw it up, but If I had to chose between somone that shrug his shoulder to his loved one possible death and someone that is extremelly desperate, at the point of making a big mistake to save the person he loves, it would make more sense to me Damon's behaviour rather then Stefan's. I'm not saying he was right to do so, but I understand him better then Stefan. And deep down I believe that Elena, even though she feels betraid and hurt by Damon, she is evaluating subconciously who actually loves her the most. And this incident is a way for her to know what she doesn't want, she doesn't want to be a vampire and she doesn't want an eternal life with Stefan. She putted an expiration date on their relationship, would she be still human. Also she has no fear of dying, we saw it many times, when she was on a suicidal mission, before Stefan snapped her out of it, when she stub herself in front of Elijah, and now, she doesn't look fearful at all, that is because Elena has the survivor guilt, the trauma of being the only survivor from the car accident, make her look almost like she is a death seeker. The psycological profile of the characters in this show is astonishing, they are perfectly consistent with the characters traumas and consequent actions and reactions.

Finally got the time to catch up on the reactions this week. The pace of these episodes is something else and one has so much to process that it can be overwhelming. One of the main arguments yet again being brought up front is the question of choice and respecting one's choice. I won't say that Damon did the right thing but he did what I would always be prepared for from his end of things. Damon isn't someone who gives up on his loved ones at any cost. He still has a soft corner for Katherine no matter how many times he has been crushed. So we can only imagine the intensity of his emotions for Elena. The interesting thing is that Damon knows that Elena would hate him for forcing her to feed on his blood but he still goes ahead with it. No one better than Damon knows what it must be like to be Elena's shoes because he did himself had been forced into it by his brother. He still is taking his own time to come to terms with that reality but he knows that he has forever to build that relationship with his brother simply because they both have that forever. And he took the same chance with Elena. He would rather be the bad guy for everyone and take charge because no one else even tries. Like you said Harry, Stefan just come across as someone who is just too accepting of everything in this current situation which just seems very odd. It is one thing to respect someone's everyday life choices but to be okay with someone relying on things that doesn't guarantee you life is ridiculous. More so if you actually claim to love and care for that person. It is okay to be in someone's bad books if it means to save their life. It wasn't a choice about how she wants to live her life..it was simply about giving it up. And even if Elena is giving up for her friends...why don't the others still try? Later on we got to see Damon still risking his own life and rescuing Caroline and Tyler. The only reason these two are going to be alive is Damon. He did it for Elena but then again he also protected Caroline in the moment. That definitely speaks about how much he does care but if it was between Elena and someone else...we know it is always going to be Elena. Katherine's response to Damon is something I always find interesting. I believe that she does have a soft corner for Damon but she is accustomed to always putting herself first no matter who gets sacrificed in the process that it must be extremely hard for her to delve into this kind of devotion. But still something fascinating always about their equation for me. Jenna becoming a vampire was another exciting factor about this episode because like you I had many expectations but then again it's vampire diaries and things can never be predicted.
