As you said, Harry, quite an episode! There’s so much going on and so much that could be said about it, but for now, I will just say, who knew that fish could be soooo significant.😏 ‘They don’t have names’ says everything about the fact that Simon is protecting and enshrining his memories of the time he and Wilhelm made love in his room and he told him the names of the fish. For Markus, they have no names because Simon also doesn’t want Markus to know him at the same intimate depth as Wilhelm does. Simon has even moved the fish tank I think, so he can see the fish more easily by this stage in the season and we have seen quite a few instances of Simon gazing at the fish while nuzzling Wilhelm’s jumper or listening to music on his headphones, in other words, at private, solitary moments when he can remember. This is the sort of subtle detail that Young Royals does so well, along with the drama, and it’s also the specific detail that made me think, ‘This is a turning point’.

Can’t believe that I didn’t say anything about Simon’s song at the end of the episode. Omar’s voice is shown off to perfection here. And Simon is clearly singing it to Wilhelm about Wilhelm, as you said. Omar apparently asked that Edvin didn’t hear the song until he actually sang it while they filmed the scene, so that it would be the first time Edvin heard it and the first time that he had sung it to and for Wilhelm. Beautiful. There’s another verse to the song which you can hear on Spotify on the soundtrack to season 2 of Young Royals. I now have a long playlist of Omar’s songs as well as a lot of the tracks from both seasons. 🫠❤️

Not sure if it really matters, but I noticed the translation was off when Sara messaged August before the ball. What she really wrote was "We can't see eachother anymore"..

I hate the "Everything's Coming Up August" vibe we get at the start with August on the shooting range. I don't like him and I want him to get his comeuppance. Not even the discomfort he gets after talking to Jan-Olof is enough. And like you said, he goes straight back to his scheming ways as soon as Sara rejects him at the dance. Making waves with Alexander. Hate him.

willes growth this season is so great. im so proud of him for being so polite and mature at the party, you could tell it took everything in him to do that. hes so desperately been trying to hold on to simon cause hes his one source of happiness but hes slowly realizing that hes been acting selfishly, and letting simon go like that was a huge thing for him to do. we know that simon didnt actually want that but yk, from willes pov.

I think the point you made about Wille needing physical proof of Simon's love is also insightful because I don't think there has ever been a character whose love language is physical touch as much as Wille. I think that's why the physical separation really struck him so hard.
