The line about them "not being the monsters out parents think we are" and your stance about them only being monsters because their parents made them vampires isn't entirely accurate... Or I would say, it doesn't entirely release them of responsibility for what they've become or what they have done... I would remind you of a very important and famous line from Elijah on 3x15 of TVD: "Mother made us vampires, she didn't make us monsters, we did that to ourselves"... Yes, Esther and Mikael made them vampires, and yes, there were a shit ton of side effects that made them predatorial (and we also have to remember, they were SIDE EFFECTS, the urges for blood, for the kill, aren't something that Esther or Mikael planned or "inflicted" on them; it was "balance" from nature, a unexpected "punishment" for the spell)... But their actions and their, the blood they've shed, specially the victims that are not simply a result of them looking to feed, the ones that have died out of Kol's and Klaus' cruelty or boredom and such... That's on them, they made themselves into monsters; at first it wasn't their fault and they didn't know how to control it, that's for sure, but after a time it became more and more their fault

Can I just say how much I love Klaus' sarcastic moments, he's so funny to me lmao

I agree with you about responsibilities, but I desagree with the fact that having to live an eternal life, cinisism would innevitably set in, as bordom, as changing in priorites, the power that is corruptor etc. Having to kill people to feed and to get a fix, because let's remeber that killing people give them a sort of relief from the turmoil of emotions they go through, having to live a life in constant danger, of being hunted as a vampire, danger to be killed, would change you profundly. Ad to that that their parents where an absolute nightmare, abusive, full of hatred with them, they look to me much more sane than they should be. It is not that fact that they have become monsters, is the fact that they were against their will put in a situation that would make anybody a monster. Then saying that they indulge into the situation and that is a matter of being weak or strong will, is very judgemental, forcing an alchoolic, that is trying to stay sober, to work in a whisky factory, and than blame him for not being strong enough to resist, it's a bit harsh to me. We know that Elijah is very hard on himself, that is why he said that, he take upon himself way to much responsibility and guilt that don't belong to him, it wouldn't be Elijah if he didn't.

I mean, I never put the entirety of the responsibility on them, not even most of the responsibility, in fact, I started my comment saying that it doesn't necessarily release them of responsibility for their actions... That's as far as I went... Which I think it's fair and necessary to point out, given how many time characters like Klaus or others fail to be unaware of their own penance when it comes to what THEY HAVE DONE... like the many times some cry (some literally cry) about how their actions are ONLY other people's fault. Also, my comment also focused on some of the nuances that go, I believe, a little bit against the comparison or example that you used... About how the hunger, the predatorial instincts and such, were never the intention or even an expectation of the spell... It isn't an apples to apples comparison to say that "it's like forcing an alcoholic to work of a whisky factory and blaming him for relapsing"... There was no previous "addiction" or behavior to be force upon them; it's not like they were only fairly small little killers and then the mother force them to be serial killers; or they liked a little bit of blood and mayhem here and there and the mother opened the flood gates... I can see your point, and I can agree with the basis of it as I see it, which is to note the responsibility that the parents have for forcing all of these unforeseen consequences on them... But like I said, my point is about not forgetting or overlooking their own personal responsibility for the monsters they have become today... Elijah is indeed harsh on himself and usually quite self aware; but only because he might be dramatic about it it doesn't make it untrue... Yes, predatorial instincts and a need for blood was force upon them, making them very dangerous, but it didn't automatically made them monsters and certainly not to the extent of some of them who actually enjoy and rebel in torturing, hurting and killing people left and right... This is made clear by even the differences among them when it comes to indulging in their worse impulses; how some of them like Kol or Klaus, kill everything that moves out of boredom or placer, while others like Elijah or Rebekah or even Finn were far more measured on the when, where, who and for what reasons they caused hurt to someone else

I agree with you in principal, by I am thinking, if we were put in the same position of being powerful immortal and blood thirsty would we be better? I am not sure at all. I am advanced in age probably compared to you, and I already see how difficult it is to get enthusiastic about something, or surprise at something, or how your view of what is important has drastically changed compared to when I was in my twenty, how much I struggle not to turn cinical, and I haven't lived a thousand years, I haven't been given power over others. So I am cautious in assigning to them responsibilities ever of actions done in boredom because I am not sure I wouldn't indulge myself being put in the same position. My example was to explain how you can judge someone that because of a spell is put in a position of being a bloodiholic and being forced to be among people that look to you like blood sausages ready to be snack at, and blame them if they do see people as blood sausage and not humans and that necessarily devalue human life to their eyes if they get usedto see them as food, and can differenciate only if they have a sort emotional relationship with them. That was was the purpose of my alcohol example.

They always give Klaus these brutal scenes while Christmas music is playing in the background lol

Just like Hope is the kind of thing Klaus needs to be a better person -- someone who he can't control, but loves unconditionally enough to let himself be vulnerable about -- Kol, as we're learning here feels like he's never cared about enough. His siblings exclude him, his mother was dismissive when he asked to be seen/described by her in the way his other siblings were seen, Marcel was chosen over him. While you might be frustrated with Davina's blind faith, isn't that what Kol needs to actually grow? Someone who does trust him and chooses him and fights for him? As far as we've seen, his loyalty to others is very reflective of the loyalty he's given.

Klaus is worse than Kol honestly.. he WAS the black sheep of the family and think he deserves some grace like the other mikaelsons
