Dropbox Tip: The quality of the video is lower while streaming so I recommend downloading or using google drive if thats an issue

This show is really good so far, it inspired me to start rereading the books

Gabe is actually one of the few things (maybe the only thing?) the movie was more accurate on. Gabe is an abusive, a-hole in the books, but I think they wanted to soften that a little for Disney+.

Two of the things I really appreciated about the show right off the bat. They did a much better job than the movie of showing that Percy Jackson is a momma's boy and the specialness of that relationship. Related to that, they actually showed him learning about Greek myths. One of my pet peeves about the movie is that the Percy in that didn't even know the origins of his own name and I always thought it was so sweet that Sally named him after a half-blood with "a happy ending" even though that original Percy from Greek mythology was a son of Zeus.

Hi, sorry for the tons of comments. This series just has me really talkative. You mentioned wanting to Google some of the Greek gods in preparation for next time, but that might be a wormhole. Here's an overview of some of the major gods. This is all general stuff about the Greek gods that can be applied to the show, but not show-specific spoilers. Zeus - King of the Gods (associated with the sky, lightning, etc.) Poseidon - God of the Sea and Earthquakes. He also invented horses. Hades - God of the Underworld, married to Persephone (goddess of springtime) -These three brothers are considered the most major gods and they usually squabble a lot. Athena - Goddess of Wisdom and Battle Strategy. She is Zeus's daughter and sprung fully formed from his head (There are slight variations in her origin story, but at least one is that she doesn't have a mother at all.) She and Poseidon don't like each other. Ares - God of War, Athena's sister/Zeus's son Hermes - the Messenger God/God of trade/travelers, son of Zeus Aphrodite - Goddess of Love, Zeus's daughter, married to Hephasteus, but she doesn't really like him and has many affairs, including with Ares Hephaestus - God of the forge (making things basically); crippled from when he was cast out of Olympus by his mother, Hera. Also the son of Zeus. Artemis - Virgin Goddess of the Moon/the Hunt, daughter of Zeus and twin sister of Apollo Apollo - God of the Sun/Archery/and a bunch of other random stuff. Somewhat associated with healing. (See above) Dionysus - God of drinking and parties, son of Zeus. Hera - Zeus's sister/wife. Goddess of marriage. Often doesn't like half-bloods because they're signs of infidelity. Demeter - Goddess of farming. Mother of Persephone.

The movie's story takes a different path than the books. I'd suggest approaching the series with an open mind and not trying too hard to match what you see with what you remember from the film, as it often won't quite line up.

Makes sense considering it's geared more towards kids, I was just SO in my head to figure out if I remembered smthn 😭

Harry Allen

Oh yeah DW, from this episode onwards I can't even remember what happens in the films bar some very random moments. I'm just here for the ride

I had 0 idea so many of these gods were related to one another, that has really thrown me off lol

Elizabeth Gates

They're sort of like the Mikaelsons with the family politics, but even more problematic. You asked why monsters come after demigods. Some of it is as you said, being defensive by being offensive. But a lot of them do work for specific gods who just don't like the kids of other gods. A lot of the gods actively work against each other. Like in Greek myths, Hera sent snakes to kill baby Hercules. He strangled them from his crib. P.S. Although, I should say that the demigods often don't see themselves as related to one another. i.e. Romantic relationships are allowed and not considered weird.

I would 100% reccomend the books to a new reader, even adults. I am still catching up on TVD and have watched your heartstopper, from the way you analyze things and like to learn lore, background, etc. The books have so much of that. The author somehow managed really dark and intense topics in the book that are honestly quite complex for a kids book, even though it really is a kids book.

Kitty Underwood

I'm only halfway through the first book still, but it is just as good as I remember it and would still definitely recommend it

In the book after Percy killed Mrs. Dodds, they just had another teacher take her place that everyone thought was there the whole time. Also, some of the half-bloods in the books do only go to camp for the summer, some of them live there year round

Same I’m about to finish the 3rd book (I’ve read the series and the sister series multiple times) my cats name is Percy and my Dogs name is Tyson lol
