The thing you were thinking about when Caroline told Elena that Bonnie didn't want to talk to her was when Damon turned Bonnie's mom into a vampire to save Elena from the originals, which was in season 3. Tbh I never saw Enzo and Lily as a mother/son relationship. I know that was her intention, I just for some reason never saw it like that and always knew he liked her. I think it was him describing her as an angel or something when he first saw her. I do also love Nora and Mary Louise's relationship, I can't wait to see more

I so appreciate the enthusiasm you bring to all your reactions. I know for some season 7 isn't a favorite, including me, but your genuine desire to dive into all the characters and discuss everything really makes it fun to watch.

I am glad that you realise how Damon get blamed unjustifiably, for things that are out of his control and how self- righteous Stefan is always the first to jump on the wagon of blame with his brother, especially now that Lilly is around reminding him the old family dynamics, where Damon was blamed for everything, was a constant disappointment was the scapegoat for all his parent issues. Damon has been conditioned since he was a child to think very little of himself, and without Elena reminding him that he is worth loving and he is a good person, with Lily around that her malicious influence, Damon is again the scapegoat he was in his childhood that is why he accept unfair criticism and believe it, because if your parents that are the one that should love you unconditionally tells you that you are bad and not worthy of love and of respect, you believe it, you might rebel, but you grow up broken and very sensitive to criticism. That. Is why he used to snap, that is why now that is surrounded by people that proved him he is worth loving, like Liz, Elena, Alaric, Bonnie and even Stefan, apart from when his is back to his self-righteous manipulated by Lilly, he doesn't snap anymore, that doesn't mean that he isn't hurt. Lilly is the classic narcissist, that will only show you attention if you show her love and devotion and her love is not unconditional as a normal mother would but is conditional to the degree of attention and subservience you show her, that is why she create this other family of "misfits" that are so grateful of having find others like them, that are willing to treat her like the leader, the mom, the chef of their group, showing her the attention a narcissist demands. She changed attitude towards Stefan only because she discovered he wrote nice things about her in his diary, feeding her ego.

Great reaction. Thanks for that. I feel so bad for Damon in this episode. He loses Elena again. How hard it must be for him to not have her around. She who he loves so much and who has shown him that he is worthy of being loved and cherished. I can't even begin to imagine the pain in his heart. Stefan was supposed to stand by Damon's side and support him during this time. But Stefan prefers to make self-righteous judgements about his big brother again. Stefan should know Damon better. Damon sees himself as a selfish friend, a jealous brother and a terrible son. He's none of those things and how badly he thinks of himself makes me sad. I can only get upset about Lilly. I have no sympathy for her at all. She doesn't deserve to be called a mum. The worst thing is that she still has an influence on Damon despite everything.

I agree, I almost never finish season 7 and have only seen season 8 once. I'm hoping with Harry's different perspective I might enjoy these seasons more
