And We're Off: Welcome to 2021 (Patreon)
Content
Full content will resume on this Friday (8th), it was originally intended to start on Tuesday, but the beginning of the year for my was a bit of a 2020: Part 2: This Time It's Personal. With not one, but two family members of mine passing away within hours of each other (they were partners) and then Mercury (the Cockatiel) getting in a squabble with Nimbus and suffering a nasty looking foot injury. He is in a separate crate now recovering and very unhappy about it (we'll keep monitoring how he does). As such, because of these events I lost two entire days which I hadn't planned for. Here's hoping that it's just the hangover from 2020 and the rest of the year is a lot better!
Content wise we are initially going to be pushing forward with the series I was working on which are:
Variant Campaigns (just one final post left)
Hunt Phase
Endeavors
There are also a other things here and there I want to work on still because I've not explored the content in full and there is still stuff to learn from desiccating it. Also when the 1.6 Update lands there will be a lot to explore, because what's been leaked already has serious ramifications both positive and negative for the current meta.
I am also working on a full review for Echoes of Death III, but I need to finish painting the models before I do that. I will also be reviewing the new Christmas content when it gets over to me, but provisionally I can say that this (still available here at the date of writing) is REALLY good. If you can afford to pay $60 for a single pattern gear card (and a very pretty pair of models) then you should be picking this one up because (crafting cost pending) the Grim Muffler pictured below is one of the most impactful and important pieces of promotional gear we've ever had released to date.
Provisionally this has already created two new builds and an entire new hunt party style. So it is fair to say that this holiday expansion is up in the top tier of promotional content alongside the White Speaker, Fade, Allison and the Ringtail Vixen (to mention a few). It is (budget allowing) a must have. We'll discuss it in detail hopefully later this month or early next month after I have it in my hands. Also, it's Lucy, Lucy remains the best survivor (though Monk is a close second).
In respect of custom content, please do not expect anything in the coming months, as I am contracted to work on Sankokushin and Fearsome Wilderness everything has been put on ice because I want to spend my very best ideas for those games in order to deliver the best possible product. I also think it is very foolish to release any new custom content until we see what the 1.6 pack and the Gambler's Chest offer, because it is very likely that one will need to revise/update things anyway.
Last Standee will return in the second half of this month.
Finally, my messages on patreon are still broken, so if you have anything you want to ask, please use the comments sections in whatever post to ask. Not only can I respond to them there, but then also other members of the community can also give feedback and read the information. Please keep messages for things which cannot be shared publicly.
Commission enquires remain closed until I have finished the large commission I have for one patron, and the may not reopen after that for the foreseeable future because 1. I have a massive backlog anyway and 2. I am going to be losing a fair amount of time working on the content for Sankokushin and the design work for Fearsome Wilderness: The CABB Game.
For patrons who are pledging at higher tiers, please review the now updated benefits of your tier and adjust your pledge amounts as appropriate. Previous amounts pledged up to and including this month (Jan 2021) will be honoured where possible. Due to the above commitments and declining health I cannot with good conscience offer painting commissions when I am not well enough to do them.
On the topic of messages still; to answer some messages I was sent.
1. Oathsworn?
I've backed it, I can't really say anything more than that at this stage other than the miniatures are great (I was shipped a few, the resin unfortunately broke in the post but the quality of the sculpts was amazing and I can't wait to see them in the game).
2. What lantern year to start facing Node 3 Quarries?
I'm afraid there is no hard and fast rule, you get a feel for it over time, but in essence if you can handle an L2 Node 1 monster (White Lion, Gorm) you're ready to move up. Typically you want to make sure you have Dash (plus maybe Surge) before you go after them because they often have ways of punishing survivors who can't avoid certain things that happen on their turn. As always, if you're not sure, send out 4x disposable survivors to test the water. Or heck, if you don't mind doing it, play a test fight and get a feel for things - that depends on if you want either a) the surprise or b) a fair chance at winning.
