2k.
was so sure i was going to come up short today.
coming up on the 2 hour mark i had not really been feeling it, and had not written half of it.
"just fifteen more minutes", i told myself, "i'll do a little bit of outlining for tomorrow, and just plan on making better strides then."
well, and then i finally did hit a groove and went the extra hour and k in a blink.
before that though, this is the second time that i've put myself in the room to write coming off of kind of a fume-- and the second time it didn't really work.
last time it was about my mother, this time it was more general dishonesty and exploitation in the world...
that kind of anger is good for motivation but i'm starting to think, not good to focus on writing.
a trap.
maybe i need the serenity to focus.
or the melancholy.
same thing, perhaps.
i did some good planning and was emotionally invested in that, but in that state i am too antsy to get words down onto the page properly.
a lesson learned, perhaps.

starting is, as always, the hardest part.
i am practicing a trick to get myself rolling on descriptions for the in-game areas.
cass will say i get too flowery with the descriptions, which is certainly sometimes true and what editing is for,
but ultimately i do need to say the necessities of what exists in the place, and i am going to try to do that in an interesting way.
anyway, i find starting those descriptions is proving a consistent sticking point for me.
like i'm not often staring at a blank page, but if i am, it's probably because i'm trying to start the description.
so the thing i started trying to do today (and had success with despite my initial iffiness) is just
literally put the sentence of what exists on the page so that it is not blank
and go from there.
say i want to describe reborn's new world.
blank page.
so what exists?
"in the new world, there are stars, green chunks of earth, and nothingness."
although it has the effect of getting something on the page to get me started, i am finding that the physical act of typing is enough to kickstart me into thinking tangibly about how to write a more interesting description.
"Multicolored stars sickly glimmer in the great beyond against a nebulous history of eons which never did exist.
A porous, particulate matter, viscous with a mossy hue creeps like mold across the cosmos.
Amidst them echoes nothing."
just off the top of my head.
way easier to get started.
c: oh hey im cass!
so yeah i'm not a huge fan of some of these long descriptions, but that's mainly because by the end of them i don't know why i care.
like i'm more focused on what matters here and why rather than making an image in my head. i don't think i really do literal images in my head.
frankly ame thinks i'm going to roast her here and like
no i'm actually much more sympathetic to it as, like, scenery scaffolding.
it's just not gonna look like that when the game's done.
