freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom

i finished the other maps last night which means my part of mapping is totally done. looking at the %'s on the dev blog, there's still 15% left but that 15% will be finished out by the other mappers. i will move on to bigger and better eventing.

but first, we're gonna make a pit stop. our destination?
the past.

i'm redoing the intro completely.

this is something i've actually intended to do from day 1. we already know that the protag comes into reborn on the train through the desert but in the first place i wanted to -show- the desert in that opening clip. as you might conclude, this requires having a desert map, which i, of course, did not. i was not particularly fond of the idea of making a rough desert map that would certainly look sub par in the mean time, only to have to redo it when i made the actual playable map later, so  i just omitted it for the time being.

aside from that this also gives me an opportunity to get the other protags momentarily involved, and to make a more creative character selection system. i'll show you guys what i have in mind for this soon.

setting that aside, as i enter eventing-land it's going to be increasingly difficult for me to post images in these updates since most eventing work is not really visible, so please bear with the very vague text-only updates for a while. further, streams for Reborn are going to be particularly difficult. aaand starlight isn't really to a streamable dev state yet. DPTG has taken somewhat of a back seat to Reborn (because i was doing mapping on both, figured i might as well focus time on reborn). so, streams might be a little more scarce for a while, with most of ours probably being animation, DPTG, and possibly the rare bug-hunting stream.

that all said, progress for eventing tends to be quicker than for mapping. mapping is slow af (CLIFFS.) so hopefully we can make like a hedgehog and go fast

it will be very hard (cuz I'm very excited for continuation, and the game by now has like 2472394 moments I wouldn't wanna relive again... while I want to relive them again... it's complicated) yet very worthwhile to give it the next full run '-' and I fricking love these moments in games when you have been somewhere, then don't return to that place for like forever, an incredible amount of stuff happens - and then you come back. especially within a linear story or across multiple titles of a trilogy for instance. problem being: I don't like sand. it's coa- ouch goddamnit stop hitting me

Is it gonna be remade the same way the ORAS intros were remade?
