yes, woof.
it's like oof.
but it's a lot more fun to say like that.
trust me.
try it.
you'll dig it.
like digging in the backyard.
or your money back.
disclaimer: there was no money.
but i still got yo back fam.
unfortunately for all that work i don't have much i can show for it, since today was dedicated to the sudden realization at 5 in the morning that i needed to write image sound and text manager methods for the project right now immediately which ended up not being at 5 in the morning because i occasionally have self control*
* self control not exemplified in this post
ok anyway so yeah i'm a noob and when i started writing this stuff i didn't really think ahead properly because this is the first time i'm doing a battle system fully in script and from effective ground up. i'm very used to structuring battle systems in rpg maker's event system which mainly uses the same flows of logic (minus arrays. where have arrays been all my life??) and with most of the lower level work taken care of for me
so thinking about solutions for how to easily move an image across the screen in X amount of time wasn't really at the forefront of things i would need to work out
but man am i grateful because although i also had to figure out the still-lower-level mechanics of how to actually make an image appear and all that a while ago now that i've got that going properly the coding is a fffffffffffucking mess with UI stuff
so anyway yeah today i wrote handles for images and sound and a destroy queue so basically all of my UI stuff can be boiled down to one or two lines
...basically i wrote methods to simulate the commands i already intuitively work through in RPG Maker.
...which since this is through RPG maker is probably a little redundant but mmmnyeh not like i can reuse the interpreter code anyway cuz it's too busy being interpreted or whatever
stupid interpreter why don't you just go interpret yourself............
anyway i'm excited to be able to work with that stuff more fluidly
you know what i'm not excited for?
rewriting all of the existing ui code
haha oops
but it'll be fine
eventually.
ok so r'born
finished the sandy quest we came up with on previous stream a couple days ago, it's pretty much as planned
moving onto planning the last set of quests for the episode, kanaya and i have hammered those out tonight, and i have just a couple more maps to make, nothing too problematique, then i'll pass those over to her and finish out everything else.
lights! tunnels!
there was something else i was gonna talk about about reborn today but i'll just save that for tomomo or whenever i guess cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuz itslateaf and i wanna sleep already so i can wake up already and work on the UI rewrite stuff already >~>
but also
one of the things that is very loosely falling under sidequests is probably the last trade in the game,
and y'all might have noticed based on uh literally every other trade in the game but i really try to make those count for otherwise unappreciated/"useless" mons who would just totally be swept under the rug otherwise. if they're trades for something better then at least the player has any reason at all to catch a dunsparce or delibird for instance!
so!
what's left!
that's a question for you. despite it using an excitement mark...
what pokemon do you think have fallen by the wayside/don't really have any kind of notable purpose at any point in reborn? evolutions are totally fair game. i keep thinking of stantler, personally. you heard of anyone using stantler? i sure hain't.
but i'm interested in other options too, what do you guys think?! should be the last trade-away mon?!
