[E18] Supervised Testing, Day 1 (Patreon)
Content
Hello, Clarice
breloombot is a thing i've already teased in one screen shot here and there, our old girl finally made it.. and she is out with a goddamn vengence, our boi ikaru on the test found her and inuki made a joke about that certain place being somewhere you just know someone died before
what they didn't expect was for ikaru to be the next victim.
she showed up and wiped the floor with him.
they learned why someone died there.
they learned several times.
and i'm so proud of her.
Ghosts in the Shell
i haven't kept any secrets about the extended grand hall area/sidequests from this episode, but I did apparently keep some other things around. not long after ikaru had the fear of god put into him by clarice, he fucked off to do something else for a while at the grand hall, but
he didn't expect to find me doing it--
alive, bloody well, and chilling in the grand hall starter room from episode 1,
ready to sequence break his file into oblivion.
maybe that is the tru nature of ghosts' revenge schemes.
speaking of sequence breaking, there were a few events i had forgotten to put a conditional on, so they were appearing in places much earlier in the story than they should have... it happened a few times, but surprisingly, each time that happened it happened to be with the same character.
idk how i managed that.
it's a character who hasn't shown up for a while... inuki said that they just had to put themselves in throughout the earlier game to make up for their absence :///
same i guess
Wolf > Ocean
this one isn't technically a bug... it's the correct interaction, but it was pretty funny. y'all know that cute puff lycanroc. y'all know cutepuff's radial edge z-move that deletes terrain in canon games... well there's only one way to handle that move effect in reborn-- all field effects are vulnerable to it.
ikaru, having happened upon a pupper one fine morning, decided he would test the move to make sure it worked.
it worked.
there was just
one small problem
at the time he decided to test it, he was out surfing on the great open azurine lake.
ergo we can only assume the dog deleted the entire lake.
maybe shitbrown wasn't so bad...
Secret Beeper
you know how i like making secret rooms and places right
its only happened about fourteen gabillion times in this game so you probably shouldn't be surprised that i made one more.
those of you who were there for the grand hall stream know what i mean.
so i made a thing when you press the button it beeps and opens the door
only
i forgot to actually make it open the door
or do anything else
other than beep
so as far as any player could have told, there is no secret room
only a secret -beep-
-beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep- beep-
i heard that for a while for my sins.
Talk Shit, Get Hit
so i've talked about how i've been letting kanaya do some sidequests for this episode, and although i think she's done just fine with them, we must be very aware that this is not a popular decision with some people-- namely and especially 2/3s of our supervised testing gang, who feel like kanaya's past rocky behaviour within the community is being positively rewarded by my letting her do that
i continue to argue that-- it's not like she's banned or anything-- and the development team is separate from the community anyway, so what's the big problem
and then continue to argue that jiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
so kanaya has that one npc in the game who i did mention is a self insert but-- again-- probably more interesting than whatever alernative npc personality would have been there so i'm okay with it.
ikaru was talking to her for her quest and such, and to save himself some seconds, he was using the debug menu through F9 to help out. and just after a rad session of some crisp backtalk.
he accidentally hit F12 instead,
losing all of his progress on the quest,
and learning his place immediately
when he realized that not only did he lose his progress on his quest
but the game was now not seeing his save file at all.
"talk shit get hit" was his summary of the situation, acknowledging that maybe he had that coming.
(in the end his save file reoccurred after being kickstarted back into existence by renaming it-- he didnt actually lose any progress aside from the soft reset.)
but still.
what.
i see u kanaya
out there killin' people.
stop dying yourself...
what i have learned this episode so far is that i am not very good at anticipating scenarios where the player is going to wipe the fuck out to a battle and then get stuck from respawning in whatever random place as a result.
it happened with breloombot, it happened with the battle i'll talk about below, and it happened with random mcfucking trainer mcgee (he has two mc's in his name, true story)
who has a ledian of all things
and then ika got stuck due to my oversight from his respawn which is all really great and well because now that's fixed
so if ledian is just too damn overwhelming for your team
don't worry.
you'll be okay.
maybe.
except man idfk how he lost to that trainer, i had stepped out of the room and when i got back he was stuck
so i was like ok quick fix for you just uhhh go die to that trainer again to make sure it works
so he went and swapped out his team to just some random weak-ass pokemon so he could die effectively
at random, he grabbed a level 20 spritzee
went to fight the trainer with just that
trainer has level~80whatever ledian
do you believe that level 20 spritzee actually lives an attack from the level 80 pokemon??????????????????????
i didn't
is spritzee just that baller? it was a sp attack
or is ledian just that weak
i dont know...............
but im so concerned how he managed to wipe to it.......................
(nah ik he wa spretty run down from other trainers but STILL)
the biggest little brick wall in the whole wide game
so our man got as far as the first major battle of the episode last night
and then he fucking
faceplanted
throwing himself at that battle probably 15-20 times
and some more this morning before finally getting over it properly
(after i already had to nerf it)
((and even then it was still a struggle))
so like
good to know i dont have to worry about that being too easy
on the contrary
he got mad and literally went on a quest to find himself in the mountains
came back with all those pseudo legends that you can get with rock climb now
and did an angry all over them
still lost a bunch 😅
i slashed their levels now for internal but we'll see about the balance of that part of the episode
it's a fucking mess
good luck <3
