i suppose being down a computer and spirit does that to a girl. some big tier oof in my book, but we solid now. my therapist decided to give me a break (who knew it would make such a difference-- i still don't really believe it half the time) and i feel relatively on top of The Things.
except animation reviews. not terribly on top of those. but that'll come soon. maybe in a stream. been too long since private stream, but story stuff does that.
still, i don't hope to spend too long on the story stuff for getting into the same pitfall with it that I had last episode. i have a personal goal for myself to be done with the bulk of it by the 15th. on a scale from 1-10, this is about a 9 on probably-not-realistic. that's fine, i suppose. but cass will be moving in around then (hi cass!) so i'd like to be set enough that i can focus on getting her situated without shoving reborn to the side
or at least, i'll have done enough that i feel i can afford to shove it to the side a bit.
that one character hardened up a bit; so have i again.
also did some sprites last night, have a new hat:

i think this one is my new favorite for him. frankly surprised i hadn't used it before given how popular that guy is.
in other parts of the development world, my next step on starlight has been getting the portait/hp splash window on hovering units.
this is why i had to do nova's art so suddenly, so i could make sure it was updating between correctly between different targets. that much is working in game. this much isn't, but it is drawn and exported so i've just gotta hook it up:

also the colors change a bit depending on team or where the unit is from. for example:

unit name will go at the top on the angle. i'm pretty hopeful. the orange and blue will be the health/mana bars, so number total will display over them.
survey question: do y'all care about seeing the max HP?
my thought is it's actually not important to show the number of how much max HP a unit has as opposed to the value of their current HP + the visual percentage of how much that is. so far the couple people i've asked have agreed, but i feel a need to confirm more since it's so standard. i think the presentation will be much cleaner with just "13" rather than "13/13". especially in that space.
worst case scenario we could just make it a player toggle option though

aside from whatever dev stream i end up doing next for you guys, i plan on streaming some more games this month! not as many as in september. that was a lil much for me. but i'm thinking of doing one a week or so until halloween, and maybe several that week along with my annual halloween stream. spooky games only. i've got a bunch stacked up. but this is like the one holiday tradition i have and abide by ^^

as ever, thank you guys so, so, soooo much for allowing me to do this and for being patient even if i'm only posting once a week at this point. i think the discord is actually a little dangerous that way-- i wanna stay in the loop with y'all, and even though i'm often not directly discussing development stuff there, it makes me feel less distant, which makes me worry about posting here less frequently... less.. frequently... ???? uh i think you get it. but then it's only a handful of people who frequent the discord and i certainly don't want to let anyone fall by the way side.
but for now, i think this is a helpful balance for me to have.
i'm not going anywhere, after all
i hope you won't either ≮̕3҉
