it's not that bad but if you don't think i'm going to be overdramatic at every single oppportunity possible then honey you got the BIG storm coming

so i wasn't gonna post all this until i was [more] done with AI things but i'm starting to feel like that's like waiting for godot [not our moderator godot] [also not the phoenix wright character, probably?] so that's cancelled and we're doing this

primarily because i have been taking the last couple and probably the next couple days to focus on prepping everything for reborn's summer social -- obligatory check that out if you haven't yet, it's june 29th!-- we're writing a whole nonary-game-esque scenario for the murder mystery event and it's gonna be real cool but also that's a lot of work so like you know time, effort etc

but doing that now means i'm gonna go post about this stuff now before i forget what all of my minimalistic notes about the subject mean SO without further budew let's talk about the emperor's new list of improvements and fixes to the ever-churning whirling torture machine that we know as kizu-AI

  • fixed an error that made forewarn pokemon warn themselves about their own moves instead of their opponents (which honest?y ? mood.)
  • updated AI's expectation of damage multiplier from 1.5 to 1.3 for gen 6 change (damage was right functionally, only wrong for AI)
  • now hesitates to use Earthquake etc in a cave field if the ceiling has started to collapse
  • went on a wild goose chase with ominous wind and similar moves before realizing the error we were looking for wasn't an error at all, but probably optimized some stuff there anyway
  • now knows to send out pokemon with sandstream, sand storm, snow warning and hail against wonderguard pokemon.
  • also a little bit smarter about sending out pokemon that set weather before pokemon that use weather.
  • now knows to send out pokemon with moves like pursuit, leech seed, toxic and such against wonderguard pokeemon
  • more likely to use weather-setting moves from behind protect seeds when appropriate
  • now prefers to avoid contact moves when facing a pokemon behind a protect seed
  • now a bit smarter about wish+protect combination
  • now knows to send out pokemon with fusion bolt alongside pokemon with fusion flare
  • fixed a bug involving move selection with choice items.
the bug was that we accidentally deleted all the code relevant to move selection with choice items.
    haha..
  • fixed a bug involving pokemon switching out when choiced into a bad move.
the bug was that, contrary to our expectations, there was never any code for that in the first place.
    ha ha...........
  • fixed a bug caused by fixing a bug with hyper beam moves on glitch field that broke everything #classicglitchfield
  • now values absorption moves less
  • tweaked recover and similar moves a lot; now substantially more likely to recover even if it could possibly kill. also a bit smarter since, you know, the speed checks work.
  • now less likely to use potions at high HP and less likely to over-use potions on aces, but there's definitely still work to be done here
  • tweaked values so the AI will consider using full heal in its life time literally ever
  • adjusted the amount by which AI dislikes using non-damaging moves if they have a kill; it's slightly more likely not, but still not very
  • fixed a bug where the AI was able to telepathically mow down the flower garden field by thinking about even trying to use the move nature power on it
  • adjusted scores for damaging moves that lower attack or defense stats to not be as shy about it
  • adjusted u-turn and volt switch to be more likely to turn out if the user's moves ain't cuttin' it. previous quirks with this were also probably a result of the speed bug.
  • now considers the average of damage rolls instead of the maximum damage roll, when thinking about how much damage it can do
  • fixed an error with hi jump kick for partner trainers. also, fixed an error with hi jump kick during gravity. also, fixed an error with hi jump kick's score. also, fixed an error with hi ju--
  • fixed an error with judgment, multi attack, and for some reason pursuit, causing them to not consider type immunities properly. yeah i don't really understand how pursuit fits in there but here we are.
  • fixed an error with cut and sword moves on forest and fairy tale fields respectively causing AI to not read them as their new types
  • fixed an error with knock off's damage calculation where the 1.5x boost was erroneously  counted all the time regardless of item, and twice when it should normally apply. raised item consideration to compensate.
  • now hestitates less to finish pokemon off with outrage and similar moves. now hesitates more to to use outrage or thrash if the player has revealed a fairy or ghost type
  • fixed an issue with serene grace overcapping additional effects above 100% when scoring moves
  • now subsantially more likely to use moves like icy wind if it will make the pokemon faster after the next drop
  • now more likely to use confusion moves if damaging the player is hard :[
  • now, once again, for the fifteenth gabillion time,, more likely to use king's shield if ai is a blade form aegislash
    but this time for real
    i hope.
  • fixed an error with protect moves caused by no one telling me that the rate at which protect moves fail changed in sixth gen.
  • fixed an error with protect moves caused by essentials handling protect moves and the rate at which they fail in a really stupid way
(basically ai would very rarely use a protect move more than once)
  • fixed an error with moves that bypass protect moves caused by blahblahblha really stupid way great thanks for coming to my ted talk
  • add a feature for AI partners to avoid attacking wild shiny pokemon

and we still ain't done.

we still out here.

we still out here in the dusty desert of development
a place sandier than reborn's reserve ground leader
dryer than hardy's stupid rock puns
desperate and aching for that sweet, sweet oasis of relief,
and the distant day when we might at last travel over the last pearly dune and arrive at a part of development that is not just chewing on the dirt beneath AI's feet

(i'm fine i swear)
