so this month i'm not gonna do a recap since i haven't posted that much overall. instead, i've been trying to get another batch of tangible stuff that i can post here going. we'll have a second post for a starlight update later in the day or tomorrow, but this one will just be stuff for reborn.
so, firstly, let's talk about the update cass mentioned on the dev blog. swimmers in the lake! crazy. she was like "ame why are there no swimmers in the lake" and i'm like "idk but i probably didn't wanna make swimmer graphics"
so anyway i've now made swimmer graphics.

mr.dude. firstly and most importantly, he is not wearing a speedo because here in reborn our swimmers aren't fucking awful
frankly i think nothing else matters.

and the gal. she's also not wearing a bikini but that's not because they're awful, it's just because i think skirt style swimsuits are really cool.
several among those of you who've submitted trainer names will find yourselves as one of these swimmers in the lake. also, since they're new NPC classes they're also eligible for the Level 25 tier to pick.
by the way if you ask me, i can tell you if you've been put in game yet or not, and where you are if so. i have kept records like a responsible person for once.
i also had to make overworld sprites for these kids too, but i'm not posting those because they look really weird when not actually in water and no one wants to see that. i mean. maybe you want to see that. i guess that's why some of you are here. fine.
linked on imgur because it's more visible against a dark background
for now, let's not talk about that and post some more legendary sprite updates. as before, the original source for these is SageDeoxys, and we appreciate their work in this house because having anything to work off makes this a lot easier.
but we also appreciate color adjustment and blending.
first up is the little cutie i'd like a lot more if she weren't a legendary, magearna. here's the original:

and the brush up:

,,,even though it was mostly the colors that needed fixing, i ended up going over it entirely. i always end up doing that OTL
next up, the beast of ultimate sprite color suffering, ultra necrozma. 0-100 baby.

okay so that really could be worse i guess but he needs some blending a lot and the side post is just so thin.... you must depth !!! even though this pokemon makes no physical or artistic sense.

shinier, blendier, and far from prefect because this pokemon is determined to look stupid in any context that doesn't make it actually glow so much it hurts your eyes. which i guess is sort of a neat concept, but i'd like it more if i didn't have to sprite it. still, i think the side pose especially is a huge improvement.
it is continually surprising to me when the most detailed reference i can find for the backside appearances is my own damn battle sprites. useful though.
and finally... zygarde complete.
god i hate it.

this sprite is feature complete but once again, the side pose is a little flat and some other other stuff is noisy without proper blending and depth. for instance his tail just kind of disappears in the front... so this is what i spent most of today doing.

trying to sprite hexagons at this resolution? absolutely useless. but i think i've gotten along well enough despite the detail in this design, and once again i definitely feel much better about the side pose. frankly it still feels a little narrow to me but spreading out the, uh, flaps, looked more unnatural.
with that, we've got finally every legendary pokemon in a passable OW format. it makes me, for one, feel a little bit better to know that some of this bulk initial time has gone to speeding up subsequent quests. we won't have to worry about these at all, and god bless.

so, up next. we've got a couple quests that are mostly done to clean up, and a couple new ones to crack open... unfortunately, i think all of those quests are still going to be in the territory of not being able to show screens due to spoilers. not all of them will be like that, but especially the first handful will. so i'm afraid we'll have to keep being a bit vague. thanks for bearing with us in this dark time~
it's been a little bit since i streamed for you guys, and i feel bad for that. unfortunately the new headphones i have don't play nice with OBS, and i haven't found a way to solve that yet. also, last time i streamt, my internet was having a really bad time. we've upgraded both our internet plan and my computer's personal internet since then but for some reason it's still not great. i will try again though, of course, and hopefully it'll at least get us through a session.
as for what to stream, i'm currently not sure what it can be. i think animations will be the safest bet. so we will probably be doing that sometime this month.
as a personal update, i am scheduled for a surgery early in next month. i don't wish to go into the details, but firstly, it's nothing serious, so nobody go worrying... however i will likely be in the hospital for a few days and i have no idea how the recovery process afterwards will go. cass and i are working on getting me a laptop that doesn't have half the screen broken so hopefully i will be around one way or another, but i won't be counting on getting much done myself in october.
i hope you will all be patient with us through this time too >~<
thank you for enabling us to keep making this game, and starlight!
more for starlight later, ok
