but only a little bit, okay?

first, since we're two weeks overdue, let's get this bit out of the way. for patrons who pledged during the month of september:

• first and foremost, my apologies for being gone the entire time just after you've joined, and my thanks for sticking with it in the meantime. my hope is that most or all of you saw my previous note about the surgery which has taken me out for the month. it's awkward timing, but i promise it is not usually this quiet
• now for usual things: if you want to be credited under a certain name, or do not want to be credited, please let me know.
• accounts have been updated to the supporter status where applicable with only minimal associated accidents, and trainer name stuff has also been dealt with
• if anyone has a higher tier reward to call in, please just let me know as usual! even if it may take some time in my current condition, but like, talk to me. and stuff. 

ok, now for everybody else,
once again, thank you so much for hanging with me this month. it means a lot to me that i can get through a time like this and still be financially stable. actually, finally be financially stable since that huge recurring medical bill i've had since last year has finally ended... at least, assuming the insurance folks don't decide they hate me for some reason.

so, status update:
shit still fuckin' hurts,
but
it's hurting somewhat less.
i can at least laugh without feeling the big pain. still can't really sit up properly, but i can sort of almost sit in my desk chair as of like an hour ago. so that's neat. still, i'll probably stay laying down a lot while still recovering to be safe. i've been able to reliably use my new laptop (secretly cass's old laptop) since last week, and since a few days ago i finally hit the inevitable despair event horizon where everything loses its meaning because mindlessly entertaining myself as a form of distraction all day is not purposeful enough to prevent my mental state from decomposing into a stagnant puddle of nihilism.

so, since then i've been trying to ease myself back into working.
at least a little bit.

some of the notable npcs in game are getting a small sprite upgrade. in some cases... i really mean small, because most of these are just recolors to the overworld sprites. but like, it's something. and it's something easy i can do to make some kind of progress in this state.

(for those who don't know, the real nyu was the online league's server host)

...so all those have been added.
battle sprites for some of these folks will be next, again, even if they're just simple recolors. but uh, we'll see. partly depends on how iffy actual spriting is with this mouse. in an ideal world i'd also like to make a video of doing some of those sprites, but this probably isn't an ideal world. for one thing, looks at america, and for another, looks at britain. you know?

so anyway, i'm not full swing yet, but, someday i'll get there.
