[Starlight] Kharniga Keep Complete (Patreon)
Content
A centuries-old fortress, originally constructed by Angels in the early wars against Lucifer, Kharniga Keep has grown and changed many times along with Hell's history. From a stronghold, to a refuge, to a prison, to a mere governing facility... it has worn and been worn down by many proverbial hats. Its most recent iteration, however, is perhaps the bloodiest.
What once was a defensive courtyard has been converted into a spacious amphitheater. Multiple platforms decorate it, poised to present those with the so-called honor of gracing them in as extravagant a way as possible. For its best shows, Demons will travel no small distance for the privilege of being here. But it is not plays or music they see-- but bloodbaths. Kharniga, at its most popular, is now a fairground for carnage.

It is here that our first look into the Divide will begin.

well it took a solid month or so longer than i wanted it to... let's blame the sickness.... but anyway, we finally made it. that said, i'm genuinely happy with how this has turned out.
originally, aside from being concept art, the purpose of this was to be a way for me to play with colors to see what i could do in terms of clarity and visual appeal while staying within a mostly low-brightness color range. that'll be important when it comes to making the backgrounds and tilesets, since i want those to be the least apparent of anything on the screen (where the characters are in the middle, and the UI is the most visible). with this done, it opens the door to work on those things.
...but also, it makes some nice promotional art, i think.
i'll post this around some places in a bit, but you guys get to see it first. i've got some things just for y'all too.
high res version
high res lineart
i know a lot of artists on patreon provide high res versions or .psds to patrons, so if this ends up being something that i continue to do more of, i may end up adding those to the tier rewards. for, just take 'em.
one more bonus just for funsies, because i think it looks cool, here's how it looks if we just turn off the light source color layers in the image

if i don't end up using that effect somewhere, actually sue me. thanks.
this was fun though.
still don't feel like i know what i'm doing.
but it's a start, ne?
well, time to start thinking about how to make a map out of this...
