things move forward again-- slowly, but nonetheless.

assets update. we still need eight combat models-- four of them are at various stages of WIPitude. we need four more message arts-- and all four of  them are also WIPin' it up. i think there's a very real chance that by the end of next month we'll actually have all that set. covid is indirectly affecting a couple of the folks we're working with on the art side, but hopefully we can keep a pace here.

i also finally got around to doing the animations for the last combat model we finished. here's a couple simple ones.

attack idle:

defensive idle:

basic attack:

next step is to combine those with glasya's..... that is probably going to be a huge pain ^^;

on other fronts, it turns out trying to draw a large number of start up tiles when i have none to go off of is rather draining. that's ok. i've been keeping to doing one tile (or similar group of tiles) per day and that seems to be working out ok. the battle map crawls ever-forward.

what is somewhat frustrating to me is that anything that needs to tile is just.. suffering, to make and try and line up properly. and i've figured out that if i sketch it out and make it tile in graphicsgale in sprite form and then move it to SAI and draw the tile, my life is much easier. however: i still hate it.

just as a rough point of comparison, drawing this whole-ass big statue was so much easier and more fun than any singular thing that needs to tile.

not that it's that big... this 4x5 tiles in game. but that's still the biggest singular object i've had to draw.
it's probably more fun since this statue is story-relevant, but that's probably not too hard to figure out either...

so the map is coming along. it will come along even more tomorrow when we stream it again! i'm slowly getting past the point of making all of the Big objects and shaping the map and starting to get to the part where I'm making smaller objects and details, which should be more interesting to watch anyway.

come hang out tomorrow and we will push this thing ever more forward! stream is at our usual 3p MST! hit up this link for your own timezone!
(dear link please work this time)
EDIT: link did not work.

as ever thanks to everyone for being patient with us during this messy time, and i hope everyone is still hanging in there <3
