Protagonist Goes To The Salon (Patreon)

there's this hot new shampoo in the reborn region

they say it makes your hair shine with like five color-shades of blending

and-- would you believe it-- i hear our local heroes have booked themselves an appointment with the stylist just for it?

here comes one now

he looks like a street kid, not in style, but in that he hasn't had a shower since that train blew up

what do you mean diving underwater doesn't count?

do you think amaria's gym has enough chlorine to filter all that out?

just look at his face--

he's ready to fight, sure, but his hair has so much grease on it i'm surprised it isn't staring in its own musical

but now, watch the miracle-wonder shampoo clean it all up

lean back, honey, let's rinse it out-- let me know if it's too hot...

dry it off, and boom--

fierce, fresh, and fluffy

don't you want to just ruffle it? but don't do that. vero hates it.

let's take a closer look instead

hair sharp, shoulders broad, now he looks like he's ready to deck meteor in the face like they deserve

what a champion-to-be, right?

but he's just one-- i wonder how the other heroes will look........

so to be more explicit, all of the protags are getting a touch-up! at least in their battle and VS sprites. you guys are getting an early version of the preview that will be in tomorrow's public post, because sunday at the usual 3p MDT, I'll be streaming respriting Decibel on Twitch!
maybe Ari if we have time.

we're doing a public dev stream cuz it's been ages and i have non-spoiler stuff for it now. don't worry, you're still my besties. <3

Aside from Decibel and Ari, the other four protags are already done. I'll post them to you all once the full set is done!

These sprites are particularly crusty because they mostly haven't been touched since Decibel and Ari were added back in, what must it have been by now, 2014? Also, in the case of the original 4 battle sprites, they weren't actually properly designed or sprited in the first place. Vero, Alice, Kuro and Lucia were all just compiled from popular items from the old sprite shop. With a bit of love, they've cleaned up nicely!

I hope to see you Sunday~
