Just a heads up, Reborn's public release is out and I will be streaming A-Ninetales spriting tomorrow 12/15 at around 7:30p EST!
Anyway.

-----

Now that I've properly introduced the project, I want to take a moment, set the Snicket-esque drama aside, and talk more seirously about Don't Play This Game and my goals for the project.

Don't Play This Game is a traditional turn-based abstract horror RPG.  It is inspired mainly by Ib, Undertale, and the browser game Loved (which you can play right here, right now  and it will only take you five minutes)

The premise of the game is this: You play a silent, gender-neutral protagonist who becomes stuck in a cycle of nightmares that cross video games over with their own self destructive thoughts. Your thoughts are the enemy. You will have to fight them if you want to survive.

And you will lose.

And you will lose and you will lose and you are pathetically weak, and you will lose time and time again.

But, maybe, eventually, you can work up the strength to fight them.

Maybe you'll even slay a few thoughts.

Maybe... you can slay...... your depression...?

When I say no one should ever play this game, I am very sincere.

I want this to be a game that someone could go back to when they're feeling low, and remind themselves which voice is the real enemy.

I want this to be a game that teaches people how to challenge the beliefs they hold about themselves.

I want this to be a game that no one ever has to play.

But they will. And it will be there for them when they need it.
