our house is infested with a certain very gross demonic type of insect called clothes moths and before you worry-- please know this is nothing new, it's been this way for a decade now, nor is it the main point, just backstory. it sucks, but we can't fumigate the house because of my mom's sickness and oversensitivity to chemicals. so we've learned to deal with and control the situation. we've mostly got it under wraps.
we were doing some shuffling yesterday to add some cedar wood to the vents (moths hate cedar) and keep it under control a bit more since it's not perfect yet. however, that required moving my computer. i moved it about a foot. then i put it back--
and then as if by dark magic, the monitor wasn't working.
i was very upset. after assessing the problem i found that no port was working, even the ones connected to my motherboard, and so i worried that my motherboard had shorted from static or something and i would have lost everything.
i cried a lot. i got nothing done. it was a very bad no good horrible time. this isn't a real development update nor is it an excuse for not having one. however-
rewind a bit. earlier in the week as i was fussing around with the field app graphics it occured to me that part of the tedium of working in those is having to move the text window around every twenty seconds because it takes up so much of my screen it's just constantly in the way. remembering that standard resolutions are now 1980 x whatever and my current one was small x tiny, i decided to get a new monitor on relative impulse so it'd be easier to work in.
so i am not sure if that was just the future calling to me or what. but i had already ordered the replacement monitor that got here this morning-- and allowed me to fix this problem. it uses a cable/port my old one doesn't have and it worked. not only that, but it allowed me to switch up settings for the original monitor so i now have #2SCREENZ.
this is going to be pretty nice actually since it means i'll be able to keep you all in a separate screen when streaming, and i can also watch over the servers a lot easier now-- among other worky stuff.
anyway, you can see that above. i thought those of you who don't follow me on the twitters might be interested in seeing what kind of set up i have now.
more importantly, and why i'm making this post is because i would not have been able to get this monitor without you guys and i might still be locked out of my own computer indefinitely.
so on the realsies, thank you all so much. aside from enabling me to do this full time, you've also enabled me to do it, like, at all now.
we'll get back to our regularly scheduled programming (...heh, literally) tomorrow. in the meantime, please know that i appreciate you all to no end.
