Finally, a dude. Also the last angel for a while.

Archangels, identifiable by their glowing halos, have several gifts compared to their Serac bretheren: They are blessed with talent, cherished with status, and unlike any other Angel, are guaranteed to earn their wings within their lives.

But gifts do not come without sacrifice. For Archangels, the price they pay is in the years of their life. All Archangels will one day Ascend and return to Diespiter. For them, that day will come much sooner than their mortal coils would otherwise allow.

For Rime, this is a particular worry. After watching his father vanish forever before his very eyes, he lives in constant fear of his own Ascendance. He knows his time is short so he tries his very best each day to live a full life while he can. His goals are not so far away-- much of what he wants is to get married, raise his own kids, and pass on what he knows to the future he cannot live in.

Unfortunately his fiancee, Raine, is not so keen.

Welp. He's engaged to Raine. And she isn't thrilled about this. Guess I know who I'm willing killing during my playthrough (I'm half joking). Speaking of which, you mentioned once that there'll be less playable characters than in traditional Fire Emblem games (like, 16 or something?) but that each character will play a role in the overall plot of the game. If that's the case, how will you handle character deaths? In FE, you lose the round of those important to the plot die, but other characters are fair game and can't be used once dead. Naturally, this can't happen in Starlight if every character's important.

Amethyst Liddell and Chasing Selene

Really good question. My current thought is to have it based on difficulty settings, and similar to how Valkyria Chronicles does it. In VC if a character is KO'd then you have three turns or until an enemy reaches them in order to save them by sending another character to retrieve them-- otherwise they actually die. If they're saved they just exit the current battle safely. This is subject to change as necessary but in Starlight I imagine it something like this: Easy-- no turn limit to save, no penalty for losing a character in a given battle Normal-- 3 turn limit to save, character loses a level or suffers some other penalty Hard-- 1 turn to save, losing any character is a game over condition. ...for instance. of course, those won't be the only differences between game difficulties but it'll be a main one.
