This week on TLIT I took a little time to explain: Why am I, Luke, the only member of Team Dollop with NO PET?! Take a deeper dive, and meet some animals I've known and loved.

Kayla

Tilly is a big fan of TLIT

Javan Brown

Aww, your pets were cute. Did you call him Bill Murray, in reference of Garfield? I thought that was sweet. You’re a nature man, those animals love you Luke. You seemed to have a little zoo operation there in those mountains. 😂🔥

Lawrence Smith

My big fella looking at me suspiciously.

JuniperRose

Luke and friends, meet Little Maple Rose. She likes chasing leaves, swimming in the river, chasing bears, rolling in the grass, and playing ball. She has not yet been to the seashore, which is nuts. When I lived in NorCal I took my 2 dogs to the beach everyday. It's not as dog friendly over here. In my 46 years of life I've only lasted 9 months without a dog. Mae is 4 years old and she's my first single pet.

Erin

Our basset hound (Lucy) and our recent foster fail (Wish). After a year and multiple failed placement attempts, we realized she ain’t goin’ anywhere. Signed the adoption papers last week.

Michelle Sinklair

I wish I could add a pic of my English bully, Zorro, and my black cat, Ursula.

There is a coyote in my neighborhood who walks down my street all the time. I see him in the mornings pretty often. I assume he’s on his way home from. This is the best picture I’ve been able to get of him because my phone camera zoom is broken. I asked him if he had a good evening at work and he looked at me. Didn’t reply though. Last week I saw him in the middle of the day walking down the street with a cat in his mouth. Not sure why my neighbors let their cats out when everyone knows Clyde the Coyote works the night shift here. Also, the cats kill the birds that nest in my birds houses so I guess it’s the circle of life or whatever.

JuniperRose

My resident bear. There are a few different ones that come visit.

JuniperRose

Resident Great Blue Heron. It's taken 6 years for it to relax enough to walk around while I'm outside.

Melissa Crook

Chani the English cream golden. She of the Disney princess eyes and the total derpiness.

Gwendolyn Duet

Two of the three: Squiggle and Squish 🩷 she’s the mean goth girl (who smokes in the bathroom) and he’s the dopey younger brother (mom said he had to come too). Can’t wait to hear more furry friends reports!

ethan

my darling cat Swayze passed last year after 17 years. the emotional credit card is bars

JuniperRose

Please give Piney scritches from me. I miss having cats.

JuniperRose

Wish looks like she's very happy to be there with you.

JuniperRose

Clyde has beautiful fur and he does indeed look very well fed 🫣

JuniperRose

I'm pretty sure she taught me how to do my eye liner freshman year 😂

dina valentina

Lucy 💗✨ sweet baby turns 11 this weekend

Luke Simmons

I’m with him… WHAT ARE YOU UP TO???

Luke Simmons

Honestly, that term applies to me as well. So… Game recognize game

Luke Simmons

I don’t think the Bill Murray Garfield had come out yet! Everybody assumed that was how he got his name, but I think he pre-dated the casting decision by at least a couple of years… It was really just because the weird word Mrs. Zavala was saying as I retrieved him from the basement sounded like “BillMurray”

Luke Simmons

I’m very sorry for your loss, but glad you had those 17 years

Shugoshin {Conchobar}

Now if you start singing Colors of the Wind at them then screw taming you are one with nature at that point

Luke Simmons

TLIT also stands for: Thank… LOOK! ITs Tilly!

Javan Brown

That’s dope. I really like that name and the story you shared about how you got him RIP. Pets are awesome!

JuniperRose

Anyone interested in seeing the insects and spiders that visit my garden? I'm home from work to give my body a break so I expect I'll be outside with the dog most days this week. A chunky Orb Weaver just moved in so I'm excited to share her with others.

SarahWG

Autumn enjoying her best life…

Allison Linderkamp

I think it's smart of you to not get a pet while you're traveling so much. It's one thing if you already have one. Thanks for sharing all your personal pics of animals. Maybe talk to James Fritz about skunks before finishing that shed.

Lawrence Smith

I think it was cause I brought a baby home lol

David Levy

Meryl Squeak and Elizabeth Squirelly Flynn here to represent the TLIT/Dollop rodent brigade!

David Levy

Along with their sisters Kate Mole-any and Mollie Church Purrell

Amanda Watson

Aww Stella and Billmurray ❤️❤️❤️ My 11-year old cat, Serling had to get his tail amputated last week. Here's his shaved butt and nub 🥹😆

Sarah

This is Andy! He’s a rescue Golden Retriever from China. We got him two days before everything shut down for Covid in 2020.

Amanda Watson

Here he is stoned out of his mind after the procedure

Amanda Watson

Nova looks very happy about said booties

Greg C

No joke, my neighbor is on his third cat. 🫩 I don’t understand why he keeps letting them outside.

Katedav

The potato bros: Tater and French Fry. Two of the 8 animals here 🙈

Maddison Wilt

That’s Winona, the black cat, and Charlie, the little guy snuggling. Winona is a boy, his name was supposed to be a mix of whiny and Corona since that’s around the time he showed up town crier-ing it up outside our windows. For good reason. Half his face was ripped off by something. Most people said to let him die and that it wasn’t my problem. But I shelled out for the expensive surgery and he’s been glued to me ever since. With the exception of his new twinky boyfriend. 😉

Maddison Wilt

Ooh, one more story! When I was a teen, my cat brought me a newborn gray squirrel. He was one of those cats that had only killed a butterfly before, so he was actually crying to me about it. I didn’t know what to do, but there’s a center here in Houston you can bring wildlife to, they just weren’t open. So I made up sugar water and had an eye dropper and put a bunch of wash cloths constantly warming in the dryer, and stuck the little guy in my bra. They’re completely hairless when they’re born! So I named him Seal like the singer and the animal for being smooth. And learned that day after breaking out in vicious hives, I am allergic the gray squirrels. He made it btw. They let him go in a local neighborhood. Also found a baby land duck running all alone on my street and scooped her up. Named her Amelia Earhart because she was a flight risk. She loved strawberries more than her duck food and hated her swims. My brother-in-law scared her and she ran away at night. 😢

Maddison Wilt

I did not laugh, I did not laugh, I did not laugh…😂😂😂😂

Maddison Wilt

I know how you feel. I’m so sorry about Swayze! I bet you have a lot of really great memories, even if it’s nowhere near the same thing.

andrew g

Great episode. Luke! How do you get those poster frames to stay on the slant on the walls like that??

Katedav

We have matching cats!

Bree

Seamus, the Irish Wolfhound. He’s about two years old in this photo

Bree

Darby the half Irish Wolfhound

JuniperRose

The daily bug 1: The adorable Squash Bee (Peponapis pruinosa). We spent some time together this morning as it was waking up and nectar drunk. I helped it up onto a leaf for some sunshine. It helped pollinate my winter butternut squash plant.

JuniperRose

Here you can see some of the pollen grains stuck to its fur.

Maddison Wilt

Omg, we do! Yours is so adorable! Looks like my Charlie’s big sibling. But I could never get mine to wear a tiara, even though he thinks he’s the little prince of the house. 😂

Tara Camilli

I had 3 cats but one died last year; so now I have 2. Tank and Dozer! Brothers who will be 14 next week. I also have a dog named Birdie. I'll reply to this comment (if I can) with a photo of her! So I live in Seattle, and I love being friends with my neighborhood cromies, as well as the Stellar's Jays that come around! I have a bird feeder on my back deck, and once I replace the deck (in this economy? Hah), I plan on making a little altar to the bros as well. I have lots of very tall trees around me so they usually like to hang out there, come grab peanuts when they hear me, and take them back to the trees. The squirrels love them, too! Birdie the dog cannot compute that I like feeding all of them. The squirrels run from her and all the flying friends stand their ground and start yelling at her but then they are cool when they see me. I think they know she's just a barky dog. I love that you are caring for all of your wilderness friends! In the cooler weather, you could make little shelters with a styrofoam cooler and straw! Cheap and easy and won't get wet and damp.

Katedav

Oh she’s adorable but she’s naughty lol. She does like dress up though

Sarah

Well this was delightful. Here is my boy Miles aka Mr Bubbles.

Sarah

Honorable mention is our porch toad Toadbie

JuniperRose

The Daily Bug #2: Female Widow Skimmer (Libellula luctuosa) hanging out on Liatris spicata blossoms. It's dragonfly season in the Northeast folks! This little lady was curious enough to stick around while I snapped a photo. The garden is chock-full of native ecotype and cultivar plant species so it's hoppin right now.

JuniperRose

Porch toads, taking care of business.

JuniperRose

This is the best thread ever. Here's the daily bug #3: Acanalonia conica AKA Green Cone-Headed Planthopper. This duder is chillin on a giant Canna as one does. It gets nutrients from sucking up phloem from just under the bark of a tree or shrub. It's a good guy unless you live in Europe.

Luke Simmons

They're called "security T Screws" you can find them most places online- but usually not in your local store- they're what they use to keep people from stealing pictures in public places- it's the only way I could get them to stay at the angle

Luke Simmons

love a cool, refreshing phloem.

andrew g

You the man Luke! Ty

JuniperRose

I can't stand people like that. It's like they're incapable of thinking logically.

Rebecca Sloane

I'm catching up on Dollop content, but like... did anyone else fall madly in love with Luke (or the idea of an animal-friending-lover-of nature-cat-dad)? Times I fell in love: 1. Bill Murray omg why is he the cutest cat ever but also 2. Christmas kitties. Hilarious and adorable. 3. Befriending the skunk/bear/feral cats/raccoons. 4. Looking up if it is permissible to have a pet skunk. (OK I also know that Luke is likely a raccoon dressed up in a human constume) but I am HERE for pro-animal content.

JuniperRose

one more sleep until Tuesdodyssey!

Olly hanging with Mr. Rat

Tania

Sort of a pet like Luke’s pets. This is one of my favourite lizards from the park across the street.
