What makes the death so impactful is if you look at the dates, some of them literally die the next day or two/a week. Can’t wait for the next ep and the one after that (x100)

TheMilkMan

That final scene got me, the clips of people being happy then cuts to their deaths and the aftermath effects on others was so heartbreaking. I believe the author of this story came from a family with a big military background so you can see how well she captured the sights of war.

A detail that was hinted at but mostly left out of the anime until those end flashbacks, is that Fido was originally created by Shin's father and was kind of like an AI dog. So, during those flashbacks there is an image of Shin, his brother, and Annette.

Might be worth checking out the slide show at 23:10, there's a few interesting frames in there. This show is wild, making you so attached to Fido right before yanking him away. Rip the robo pupper, he was the best boy.

PyroPhoenix

This is why the few of us that have watched this recommend it 😭😭 it is actually so good and top tier but not many know about it. I always recommend this to people looking for a new anime. The novel is so extremely well written and in the anime they hired a goat music director because the music be hittin so hard with every scene >.< point is, ye no it just flew under the radar because of other popular shows being out. Otherwise this would be one of the top best ever anime

Reddd Hunter

I've never seen a recap done like this before I watched this show. Some of the shots are incredible. Also, all hail Sawano.

Also to answer your question Sam about why isn't it more popular. I feel like the show is super hit or miss in either direction. Either people love it or they don't get it or they want more fighting. Narrative and emotion carry the show and some people aren't looking for that sadly or they say it's "Boring"

They did it justice. You're right many passed on it due to other anime but damn god it is amazing. I would like them to react to Odd Taxi also. I started watching Odd Taxi and 86 together. Just wow......

Oh man yea odd taxi was good too >.< It was so unexpectedly good, I nearly dropped it first ep but decided to keep watching and I am so glad I did

PyroPhoenix

Crazy how they made you feel so emotionally attached to fido in such a short amount of time just to rip him away and make us sob 🥲🥲

Dune

Yeah definitely when it came out it was overshadowed by many other anime coming out at the time. Not to mention that first scene of the first episode draws you in thinking its gonna be all action but then you find out its more about the interpersonal relationships of the 86 and milize which im sure a lot of people stopped watching because of that.

Dammy Oshikoya

For the next ep, make sure to stay till the end

Thamor

Fido the biggest mystery box of a robot.
