John

Another reaction to cry with yay

Ivan

I don't think I will ever forget you Acrobatic Silky! Also Aira, you did good

Lyrical Kell of Music

I’m glad they didn’t do stupid shit with Ken give CPR to Aira, like “I cAnT gIVe MoUtH tO mOuTh ShEs A pReTtY gIrL aNd MoMo Is RiGhT hErE” *cue wacky sound effect number 4* So many shows do something similar and it pisses me off so much , it’s played like a man and a women can’t interact without some romantic or sexual undertones

TheMilkMan

Ah, depression, I did not expect this from this show, I cried so hard, will definitely read the manga after this season ends. If you guys want to cry more, watch the recent movie "Look Back" made by the same author of Chainsaw Man. 🥲

Vidolin

Yeah, gonna have to skip the full reaction on this one, already sobbed enough.

Nolan L Thomas

To say this episode caught me off guard would be an understatement. I thought we were going to get the typical Dandadan looney shenanigans and to a degree we did. But we mostly got a gorgeous tragic tale about motherhood, loss, and regret. This is the episode that changes the series from something really good to something truly great.

Nolan L Thomas

The scene when Acro-Silky was doing ballet against the starry backdrop was one of the most tragic and gorgeous sequences I've seen in any show recently rather it be live action or anime. This episode was damn fantastic, be so very sad and painful.

Peen

PAIN!!!! JUST PURE PAIN!!!!!!!!

TheMilkMan

You don't have to worry about that, Tatsu, the author of this show learnt from Fujimoto, the author of Chainsaw Man. I'm currently reading the manga, and as goofy as the show is, there isn't anything frustrating in terms of writing, very well written, there are cliche tropes but it's written very well.

Lyrical Kell of Music

Yeah I recently learned that the author had a connected with CSM and it makes perfect sense

Lone Wolf Knight

Episode 1-6: "Haha, here's a funny story about kids fighting ghosts and aliens to get back his dick and balls!" Episode 7: "Oh yeah, and here's the most gut-wrenching thing we could think of!"

thereactpack

a lot of people have been talking about that! sounds very interesting! -Morgan

Jesse Suthers

I must be watching demon slayer with this depressing backstory

Michael

God when I read this in the manga it made me sad. But seeing it animated is sooo much more emotional. They adapted this amazingly from the manga. JUST WOW!

brandon

aira my goat

Honeybadger

Is dandadan animated by Mappa? The goofy outro after that gut wrenching episode. What JJK "you are my special" ahh moment

ALex alex

it was Science Saru they animated devilman crybaby, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken and other good animes

ALex alex

manga readers say this isnt even the tip of the iceberg

ALex alex

i think they censored a little the way how the mom died, she danced in the roof of a bulding and jumped at the end, is more explicit in the manga

Anto

You are my special was put there on purpose, and it fit the scene. Science Saru decided to keep the openings and endings that didn't fit the mood of this episode.

ALex alex

it reminds me a lot of demon slayer the way they present an enemy defeat it and then tell his sad story but i feel like its gonna be even more sad in dandadan because its based in the real world in current times so all the stories are closer to us

Ellijah Brown

I haven't read the manga, so I'm unsure if it's true. But context clues show that when Aira's (I'm assuming her name was Aira like the pink-haired girl) mother was a sex worker, she was giving money away for some reason. I guess that she owed money to some yakuza or loan sharks. The guys who attacked them wore suits with expensive watches and chains. So when they attacked, they took whatever money they found and took the daughter as collateral. So she was likely trafficked and died. So when Aira hugs Silky, she says that she wants them to live in a better world elsewhere. This shit was really sad and this show is goated so far

mundanelotus

Yeah that backstory scene was way more beautiful and brutal than in the manga 😭

Mrcoolmint

May they find each other on the other side

Jacky

Anime of the year for me

IG @ Animewins

From what I heard, ppl speculate the daughter was either turned into a prostitute or killed off shortly after that incident. Safe to say the daughter didn’t make it out alive with both options

thereactpack

That makes sense of the “thud” sound 😔 -Morgan

IG @ Animewins

Yea, sorry. 😞 she definitely didn’t make it

Lai Tupuola

I think one of the things ive come to love about Dandadan, is that it takes time to explore these Ghosts, and Yokai, and many of their back stories, are stories of deep trauma, and some truly horrific stuff, but there's also a layer of nuance, that helps you humanise these characters, such as Turbo Granny and the would of the lost girls she went to comfort and protect, and Acrobaitc Silky and Aira...
