Yeah you guys got it at the end. Gojo recognized in season 1 Marin makes a lot of fried food and doesn’t use a lot of veggies. He eats a very healthy balanced diet and was just worried about what she might make. Also I think the point of Gojo not feeling masculine is pretty spot on, he constantly doesn’t think he is good enough while also being a perfectionist for his craft. Him asking for help from another guy in his class was a good step for him in recognizing you don’t need to do things alone but also it’s the first time he has really asked one of his classmates/Marin’s friends for anything. In episode 1 he felt out of place and only spoke if spoken to, here he took the initiative with Morita and Murakami.

I think a really big step Gojo took this episode was asking for help from someone who isn't his Grandpa or Marin. Season 1 Gojo couldn't say a full sentence to his classmates, now he came so far. Also a big thing is that Gojo, who spent most of his life afraid that people will judge him for his interests, is now the one to reassure his classmate that they are not weird for liking something. I also love that his classmate genuinely seemed happy that Gojo approved of his interests, showing that, just like how Gojo was fearful of others' opinion of him, everyone else is fearful of his opinion of them. Everyone has insecurities.

"Poor" Gojo was raised by grampa, so he was eating his entire life "Ryokan food" (Hope you had it in Japan), so he is used to small portions as well. Marin can eat up entire world, thats why you had scene where he was replacing his regular Tea with Tea that helps his tummy.

the cinematography and shot composition is really underappreciated in this season. so many incredible shots and camera pans. ive watched these episodes probably 5 times each and catch new things each time.

not only that, but traditional Japanese food tends to be less seasoned/ seasoned more simply than most western food. so mostly soy sauce, salt, pepper and the odd chili. this way it lets the flavour of the actual food itself shine compared to a lot of western stuff where the main flavouring might come from seasoning or marinades or sauces

Yeah, I agree, that's why I said ryōkan food. They tend to serve like you said, very traditional food. My slav stomach didn't respond well to it at first tbh lol

We learned in the first season that Marin eats crap. Like us Americans do. He is a typical Japanese when it comes to diet. Not too much into fried and fast foods.
