no one was expecting Kei becoming the main heroine but she rose to be the favorite as a fun fact in japans official popularity poll there are 2 girls who always won 1st and second they are Mahiru Shina from the angel next door spoils me rotten and Kei of cource all of the other girls in COTE combined never amounted to the total of Kei she always won by a landslide victory. but now its all Mahiru shes won it like 4 years in a row now this year she even beat the glutton yanami anna from too many losing heroines this year and nukumisu beat out koji for best male but thats cuz of what the author did recently wich is a huge spoiler. the authors can get on the fans good side or bad side depending on what they do in their stories

in the novel there was a ranking the girls did for the boy's handsomeness, and ayanokoji ranked 3rd or fourth in the class I believe. He's also known now to be quite athletic.

The anime makes ayanokoji a lot colder when turning down sato, in the light novel the thought “I didn’t judge you worthy of smiling for” never happened, in the novel he turned her down because of the situation with his father, and even tells karuizawa after that he regrets rejecting sato and wished he could’ve said yes as he thought sato might be someone who could change him, he was still cold when he turned sato down but not this cold

Yessss, I hate how the anime tries to make him into this sigma cold robot, when in the light novels he is not cold or robotic, he is really just awkward and genuinely bad at socializing, but is still very sweet.
