Jjktard

Someone commented that they destroyed the city over a one week situationship, iconic.

Nolan L Thomas

Damn near everything about this film was gorgeous, from the animation, VA, music and overall aesthetic. This film adapt the already incredible arc wonderfully. So very happy and pleased you ladies watch it.

Nolan L Thomas

I love Denji, but Reze was whopping his ass the whole movie🤣🤣🤣🤣 to the point I was getting kind off worried.

Nolan L Thomas

I never thought of that but your correct 🤣🤣🤣🤣

universe

To be honest if I was denji I rather deal with reze then makima at least reze will actually like me with makima she will just treat you like a tool to be use

universe

Yeah denji didn't have no plot armor at all man I was waiting for this man denji get a power up of something I was like man where the fuck is the plot armor damn she was whooping his ass

Nolan L Thomas

Bruh, I too was waiting for Denji to gain some offense. But Reze just continued to pack him out. It was bad. My son needs some training.

Saekoa

Can't wait to watch this when I get home from work. Reze is such a tragic character. The sad realization at the end is that she was a great match for Denji. In another world, if they were both just normal teenagers, it could have worked out.

Ivan

Nobody wants Danji heart ❤️ :(

TDawg

Fun fact: the film both Makima and Denji cried to is an actual Russian film from 1959 titled Ballad of a Soldier!

The I-Guy

Glad you guys finally got to watch this. I'm surprised it came so early. I was transported back to being a 10 year old kid watching action anime for the first time. It was fun to watch in the theatre

Raunak Xrestha

"Denji.. To be honest, I never went to school either" - Reze.

Ivan

Will miss the bombstick girl. Also am loving the BEAM

universe

At this point yuji itadori or denji I wonder who suffer the most

Brandon Solerr

Angel devil isnt a fiend. Fiends are devils turned human and denji is a human tunred devil. Angel devil is just a devil.

Flaccid Duck

probably yuji since he actually cares about other people. Denji really only cares about himself. Like he wouldn't care if he accidentally killed someone, but yuji would grieve over it.

Jackie Gibson

The amount of love and care going into the series is incredible, I'm so happy as it's one of my all time favorites. Absolute masterpiece ❤️‍🔥can't wait for the next arc, probably in 2027 or 2028

Nolan L Thomas

The suffer Olympics topic is always was entertaining to witness

universe

Shit she definitely is out of any female in the chainsaw man reze definitely the better option I mean she still deadly but it better then facing makima

universe

To be honest she was the best option for denji in the whole series

universe

What is the next arc after this

universe

This might be a hot topic but i think reze is the best girl in the chainsaw man

IG @ Animewins

Age appropriate and Denji being happy. This is not the series for you lol

Jackie Gibson

The international Assassins arc is next and it's pure chaos, that's all I'll say.

Caraota

I loved your reaction but to clear confusion. Reze never worked for the gun devil, that was just something makima told Beam. Reze only worked for the Soviet Union which also wanted Denji's heart.

A C

a lot of people think that lol she won the most recent popularity poll

universe

Only for this arc right

universe

Denji is definitely never having a happy ending I'm starting to think the author of chainsaw man doesn't like his own main character

Glitch

Not a big detail, but fyi, Aki had 2 years left at the end of season 1 not 6 months. So he’s down to like 22 months now. So, a bit more time than y’all were saying

universe

Denji can never take a break at all

universe

Hold up isn't that the arc where that silver hair woman with the eye patch on that has a suit on I forgot her name

universe

Are you a manga reader

Michael Le

every time we think how does Mappa outdo themselves with insane animation with AOT and JJK, they just keep delivering over and over again, the movie was insane to watch in IMAX. Also yeah, Beam definitely has some Tanjiro and Okarun in him, but he's more chaotic.

LiquidXGravity

No Denji just said in the movie that he would not be able to sleep well if more people died

IG @ Animewins

I think yall are confused. Denji, reze, and kitana devil are hybrids. Half human half devil. The devils that work with the devil hunters are fiends they are born devils. Also hybrids are immortal as you can see because Denji also comes back to life.

Cranidos' Skull

yuji had actual deep bonds with his lost friends. denji has very shallow friendships comparitively. he knew reze a whole two minutes as an example. jjk stays winning

IG @ Animewins

Fiends do not turn human. They are devils possessing dead bodies.

Tom

The sword that reduced Aki's lifespan so much was a nail, given by the curse devil, which he stopped using at the end of the first season. The katana he has switched to is a weapon made by the Angel devil, which he used to kill the ghost devil in the last episode and continues to use in this movie.

Dammy Oshikoya

Man, reading this was a gut punch, now you know why Reze is the GOAT. And S2.........I can't wait

universe

Ok so during the next arc is that silver hair woman with the suit on I forget her name that start with a letter Q is she going to apper on the next arc she has a eye patch

Marcus

LORD CHAINSAW!!! Beam is such a lovable goof

JuicyTortuga

Such a shame my preferred theater was only showing the dubbed version, still (chain)saw it but would have loved to experience the sub first.

universe

Plus to be honest denji has every right to be a villan

Nolan L Thomas

Reze is so cool. Definitely one of my favorite character. The scene with Aki and Angel was very heartwarming and breaking.

universe

Bro who cares if it in dub or sub it the same movie why so people argue about sub and dub I'm not talking about you juicytortuga glad you enjoyed the movie though no disrespect towards you by the way

ryanapplegos

Just to make things more complicated, Angel and Princi aren't actually fiends, just devils. Some devils just look humanoid.

ryanapplegos

I think this might qualify as a spoiler. I'm a manga reader so I know what you're saying, but right now in the anime we don't know for certain that the Soviet Union doesn't just work for/with the gun devil.

MaxedOut01

The next three arcs after this are all absolute bangers.

Juan

I have watched that Aki and Angel scene an unhealthy amount of times

ryanapplegos

There's a line in Fire Punch (also by Fujimoto), that I think is indicative of how he writes these stories. When a character is asked why he seems to be turning on the protagonist he says "I love Fire Man. So I want to film him while he's failing and suffering. That makes it way more interesting!"

marty

Is that just for the anime?

JuicyTortuga

Is there some controversy about the sub v dub? Only the amc was showing the sub in my town but I vastly prefer the local chain, better seats, food and much nicer building.

TheMilkMan

I believe the reason why Typhoon has a baby appearance is because there's a metaphor for a baby tantrum being like a typhoon.

A C

No it was a poll for the manga

A C

I love how from Makima’s monologue before she kills reze tells us she was listening the whole time to their conversation at the school. Reinforces the idea that Denji and Reze are both the butterfly trapped by the spider in the pool scene. There is a lot of ways to interpret that analogy though. Reze is such a tragic yet beautiful character.

thereactpack

Oooh okay, I was trying to remember the difference, thank you!! - Dani

IG @ Animewins

No problem, there’s also devils the hunters make contracts with but they are not fiends, just devils. Example fox devil

Vextipher

This movie gives me "I really want to stay at your house" vibes but replace house with cafe. Depression Man. 10/10

Phoebe

SO infinitely heartbroken over Reze ugh she became my favourite character so fast after this movie! It's so crazy how through it all she never referred to Denji as Chainsaw, and only Denji because she saw him for who he was, not his devil heart :( I also love the development between Aki and Angel so much! I saw this in 4DX so I remember how sick the animation was while I was just being flung everywhere lol but these visuals were so crazy even in the rewatch and I wish I could see his movie for the first time again!! The soundtrack and sound design was insanity and really made this such a memorable film. Even just listening to the music takes me back to the scenes, it's absolutely incredible!! This is definitely one of my fave releases this year <3

Jake Oriental

This is wrong lol, denji suffers so much that his brain had to block some of the memories because of how traumatic it is

thereactpack

My favorite, I really feel like Angel needed that hug 😭 they both needed it!!! I need it!! -Morgan

Rinely

hayakawa is the old man who taught denji and power, not aki, who is aki

TheMilkMan

If they cut out Quanxi's introduction, I'm crashing out

TheMilkMan

Major spoilers for those who are anime only: Technically, ALL devils, fiends and hybrids are immortal, when they die, they never actually die, they get "reborn" in hell and when they die in hell, they come back to Earth and so on and so on.

DBZ LEGOND

By the way, the reason why the show looks different is because the director from Season 1 has left, and now the art style has changed to allow for more flexible character animation. Also, the show is much more colorful now compared to season 1 (which had more realistic movements). It's different, but I personally love the new style.

MaxedOut01

They better not, I'll crash out too 😂

Sean Carey

I watched the dub so this is the first time im seeing the subs and wow, they are quite different... There are some lines in the dub I like better and fit better, and some in the sub/original audio are better or make more sense. Very weird lol. Like after they see the last movie and she says it was worth the price of the ticket in the sub, in the dub she says it was worth the price of all of the movies they saw, which makes more sense imho.

Phantom Egg

I think Dani may have been confused, Aki isn't using the sword that decreases his lifespan anymore. That was pin shaped and from the curse devil. This new katana is made of other people's lifespan and made by Angel. As far as we are aware it has no negative effects. Don't worry I've seen several reactors miss this and wonder why hes still using it.

Baka Floca

Holy Reading comprehension devil. Aki Hayakawa is Aki’s full name, the old guy that trained them is called Kishibe

Some Guy

Reze momentarily paused every time Denji gave a response with a positive perspective on his own life when what she expected was to hear him mirror her own bleak view of her stolen childhood. Really becomes clear when you find out her backstory. Sad. RIP you mass murdering child of tragedy

Baka Floca

Fiends ≠ devils. Devils are full manifestations of a fear hence their names. Fiends are devils that have taken over a human body normally out of desperation because they strength and lose the ability to make contracts. Hybrids like Denji,Reze, and Katana guy are humans in control of their body that has a devil in it as well.

HollowedSlayer

This movie was insane in 4DX, really made you feel the amount of explosions. When Reze would snap her fingers, absolute seat shaking peak. I also saw someone in another reaction comments mentioning the significance of the spider and butterfly during the swimming scene, the butterfly is a monarch butterfly which are both poisonous and can feed on spiders. So essentially both the spider and the butterfly have caught each other and are shown dead at the end, representing Denji and Reze.

Tomas Eduardo

BTW there is an AOT easter egg in the movie. When Denji is in the cinema with Makima, a background character has a shirt with the Survey Corps symbol on it.

universe

Yes unfortunately people in the world has been arguing about sub vs dub all the time

marty

Oh wow, just looked it up, that's genuinely so surprising considering it includes manga characters

thereactpack

Reze and Denji ran off together in another life. 💔 I also loved the Aki/Angel parts! Seeing it in 4DX must have been amazing! The fights were insane. -Sam

C. J. Ramirez

I’m still sad she died at the end

Username123

“Is he even going to get to see the gun devil get defeated” 😳 Ifykyk

thereactpack

OH THANK GOODNESS. Also guess I'm glad to not be the only reactor who made this mistake 😅- Dani

Joey boi

I am so curious what the gun devil is atp

Bocchi in Shadow

Reze got me feeling like Denji. Girl just commited mass genocide, tried to kill him, but I mean... o_o Makima came in at the end like movies over, go home.

Joey boi

They both look so gud, this movie was wild

excel

Good observation that Reze’s blood puddle resembles the Japanese flag. I don’t think I’ve seen any other reactors notice that. Ties into the theme of the movie that Reze, like Denji, are both children used, exploited, and manipulated by these nations like Japan or the USSR for their own ends. And, as for the mention of Japan’s nuclear bombing, Reze’s Devil head was based off of the Fat Man nuclear bomb. The imagery of Japan being bombed by Reze has obvious implications. Another good catch

Orenji

copied this from a youtube comment: some small details: - The Butterfly that is seen getting eaten by a Spider is a Monarch Butterfly. Is poisonous for spiders that eat it. Reze fell into the trap of love - At the end, you see the board with the recommendations of the caffee, with the old menu erased and a new put in place. Reze erased the old menu, and put the options that Denji liked the most. - In the Phone Booth, Reze was holding her choker, and had her other hand in her back pocket, the same that at the end reveals she had her knife in. She was about to kill Denji right then and there, but started laughing and crying cause she couldn’t once she saw his face, she fell in love - The white flower Denji gave Reze is a White Daisy. It means innocence, love at first sight and fresh beginnings. The red flower that Reze is holding at the end and makes her go back to Denji is a Red Daisy, that means deep romantic love, passion, courage and vitality. - When Reze sees Denji riding Beam, she burst out laughing, wheezing. It’s recurring that Reze can’t hold her laughter at any of Denji’s jokes. At the beach, she burst out laughing, and immediately copes out saying that all her actions were a lie. She was doing a desperate lie in an attempt to keep Denji away from her, safe. - Reze is shown to be a horrible liar. Even at the Special Division 2 Trainning Center, she couldn’t even put a decent performance to fool anyone. It ties to the end, that she couldn’t even hold the lie that she didn’t care about Denji, a fact that Denji immediately disputed and she couldn’t even back up. - When Reze is singing her lullaby, it shows Makima drinking coffee, then looking out the window, and nodding her cup in rithim with Reze’s song. She was drinking coffee that late just because it was the same drink Reze gave Denji, and her nodding the cup was because she was listening to them. - Reze cut Denji’s tongue mid kiss and after because she got jealous. She confessed to Denji, and he rejected her. It was her first time experiencing love, jealousy and rejection, so she falled back on what she knew: violence and her mission. - Reze arrived late at her work to the caffee despite being just a two minute walk away. A caffee thst is always empty, pooly managed, and she being a lousy waitress. It was her front, she wasn’t planning on coming back after killing Denji in the phone booth. She just kept coming because she wanted to keep seeing him. - When Denji is complaining about how everyone is after Chainsaw’s heart and not his, Reze immediately jumps to confirm to Denji that she was being honest about her love to him. And then doubles down when Denji mentions Makima, about “it wouldn’t have worked if her runned away together”, and visibly wimpers, somethin that Denji mockingly imitates. She was willing to do a lot, but not to have Denji have doubts about her feelings - When she transforms at the trainning center and separates her body from her bomb self, she’s seen naked. But when she chases Denji in the car, she’s seen wearing white panties. So she was about to chase Denji, realised she was naked, quickly took a detour to get her panties from somewhere, and resumed the chase. - If you zoom at her notebook when she’s studying, you can see she wrote Denji’s name a couple of times next to hearts - When Angel tells Denji he can chose between letting Reze kill him or he kills her, he answers with “that choice is easy enough”. But before he told Reze he is “arresting her”, he said in the beach that it was worth it for him to be killed by her, and when he dragged her into the ocean, he disolved the chainsaws of his feet and turned his head away to avoid hurting her. - When they both fall into the sea, the memories we see of them in the pool are Reze’s. She even lays her head in Denji’s shoulder, the same thing we saw her doing when she hugged him in the beach. She was willing to die right next to him. - When Angel is explaining to Aki about the fable of the City and the Country Mouse, Aki is seem visibly shaken and doesn’t answer. In the flashback when Aki last saw his family, it’s show that his parents were reading his little brother that same fable in a book. It was the last thing they were doing before being killed by the Gun Devil

ALex alex

we already saw the gun devil in season 1 i think

ALex alex

i wish i could give an 11/10 to this movie in myanime list, i dont want to drop by 1 point all the other shows that will take ages to do

piplupluvr69

oh my god i ship akiangel so fucking much augh

Saekoa

As someone who trained in martial arts, I like how Reze was doing a rear naked choke correctly, not just some botched headlock. One of the easiest things to learn and you don't need to be super strong to do it. So long as you can get the neck and lock it in you could be a 90 pound girl and choke out a 200 pound man in like 10 seconds or less. The tricky part obviously would be getting there for said 90 pound girl but yea lol.
