I figured if Luffy uses his stretchy powers like a grappling hook gun with Nami on his back, who’s almost dead, the G-forces from the pull would be too much for her in her current state. I have no idea why he didn’t have gloves on nor his own jacket from one of the others lol

The live action didnt make it clear but the reason Luffy couldn't stretch all the way to the top is because 1. The mountain is miles upon miles tall, luffy cant stretch that much yet. The anime truly emphasized how much luffy had to climb. 2. Luffy cant control the speed of his stretches, if he did that he would just go fast and launch himself ultimately hurting nami due to her weak body from being deathly sick. 3. Dramatic effect :P

luffy didnt stretch because it was too risky for nami's body since shes in an extremely vulnerable state. Luffy propelling himself would be putting even more strain on nami so they didnt want to risk it

Well just remember that Baroque Works agents go up in strength relative to how low their number is. So Mr 11 and his partner were always going to be pretty weak compared to the ones we already saw like Mr 5 or Mr 3 and their partners. Also I don't know why they left this detail out of the LA but in the original it was explained that Nami's body can't handle the force from Luffy stretching far and moving with her. And it's not like Luffy can really control how fast he moves when he stretches. Because he's rubber, it just flings him.

I think he loses his jacket and gloves on the way to the mountain in the manga/anime. Here, in the OPLA, he has a better grip without the gloves I guess. Or you could also go with the "Hes Luffy, hes an idiot" argument. ^^°

Luffy is a rubber man and rubber gets brittle when cold, so he can't stretch over and over.

I love the live action but there are certain things that they didn’t really explain properly. Luffy didn’t use his power to go up the mountain cuz he didn’t want to make Nami’s condition even worse… Also, whats even more crazy about the climb is that in the anime Luffy carried both Sanji & Nami all the way up. Sanji got injured prior to getting to the mountain

i kinda hate the fact that only sanji seemed worried about nami in the LA.. .in the anime the whole crew were worried about her and they never left her side. luffy was trying to make her laugh and vivi was keeping her cool the whole time. meanwhile sanji was just screaming the whole time and was kinda being useless. there's also a scene that i love so much, where all the strawhats were sleeping in the floor in nami's room so she wouldn't be alone :( i am kinda upset they cut that out because it shows their bond.

though technically, the real reason he wasn't slinging up the mountain was because in the Manga Sanji told him that the intense force of movement would only make Nami's condition worse. its also why originally Sanji was the only one fighting the Lappin Rabbits and also why he also took a considerable amount of injuries trying to protect luffy and Nami.

i mean understandably they just show that that wont happen when luffy grabbed sanji with his neck. I think the main issue was she was holding a sick nami, and doing so would risk her in more danger.
