Just to clarify one thing: the Targaryen sigil on the highest-value coins is pretty common since they're the royal house. So having a coin with that symbol wouldn't normally mean anything... although in this case, it definitely does, haha.

The showrunner said they gave Excalidong to Arlan to make up for the fact they portray him as a drunken whoring bumbling old man and they wanted to give him one impressive quality. But yea I think it was mainly for the shock factor tbh >.<

Something to keep in mind while watching the last 2 episodes is what this show and George Martin asks: what does it mean to be a true knight? What does doing good or the right thing really mean in this unfair & unequal society? Aerion is a violent lunatic but is Dunk's arm/leg and justice for Tanselle's troupe really worth the lives of 14 men? As heroic as Baelor is should he be risking his life for a low-born knight when he is the Hand & crown prince, when joining Dunk means fighting his own family? Even when Egg followed Dunk to the tourney alone, hiding his identity to squire for a knight as any boy his age would want to, it wasn't his head he was risking if he was caught or something happened to him while with Dunk. These dilemmas about morality, social classes, misogyny are present in all of A Song of Ice & Fire but I think this show adapts it the best so far out of the 3. They were able to translate the warmth and folksy charm from the novellas without sacrificing the actual themes George loves writing about. Even the title they chose for the show is fitting for what these stories represent.

The Mad King's name was Aerys, not Aegon. The current king Daeron II has 4 sons: Baelor, Aerys, Rhaegel, Maekar (oldest to youngest) Baelor has 2 sons but we've only met his firstborn, his heir Valarr so far. Maekar has 4 sons: Daeron, Aerion, Aemon, and Aegon. So Egg is a 4th son of a 4th son and as of this point in the show is 11th in line to the throne.

Just a few help full bits of info. P.S. Now worries about not remembering, it is a lot of info and it has been quite a while since Game of Thrones was on. 1) The Mad King aka. Dany and Rhaegar and Visaery's father was called Aerys not Aegon. 2) The third of four sons of Maekar that went to the Citadel we know from Game of Thrones is Aemon who was the Maester at the Wall when Jon went there at that time he was a bit over 100 years old. In the show when Aemon was dying he had visions of Egg in the show. So he was eggs older brother. Great job as always.

Yep. Although I do think the director meant it as a hint. Spending a whole gold dragon for dinner at a backwater tavern is RIDICULOUS, and only a prince or maybe a Lannister could be so flippant. Between that and the visual storytelling of him slamming it down like a badge it's pretty clear. I think most people pick up on the hint without realizing the correct reasons. They just assume "oh dragon coin, must be a targarian".

It's not really mentioned in the show but there's a reason Baelor has dark hair, in the books he also has a bit more melanin. His mother is Dornish and from House Martell. It's just genetics that his brother Maekar inherited the classic Targaryen looks but he didn't.

The song egg was singing in ep 3 is actually about the battle of the red grass field it happens before AKOSK, and it's where Baelor and Maekar got their nicknames the hammer and anvil

If someone had a cracked tooth of any type or got a temporary crown, the general advice is to avoid hard foods for a while like nuts, steak, carrots etc. Food will inadvertently move around in your mouth as you chew and it looks like he was chomping on those nuts with no problem, lol. Either way, it also could have been just a coincidence and not the intention of this scene.
