Page 4!

Here we find Luca, the wolf, struggling to make sense of what just happened. He's confused, frustrated, and doesn't really know what to do. Why did he find that situation so exciting? Could this be the first time he's ever felt this way about another guy?
He looks down and realizes that his excitement isn't going away anytime soon. So, there's only one thing left to do: find out what's going on and follow the lion! 👀

Storyboard

The original version of the storyboard was supposed to end quite differently.

Luca was about to enter the staff changing room when he suddenly stopped, startled by something. On the following page, we would have discovered that he'd bumped into a female colleague who was just leaving.

It would have been a pretty funny scene, but I realized it would also have interrupted the suspense and excitement that had been building up between the wolf and the lion. So I decided to cut that moment and have Luca go straight into the changing room instead.

Sometimes removing a scene can work better than adding one!

Refined Sketch

During the refined sketch stage, I kept all the original camera angles and compositions. They were already working pretty well, so there wasn't much to change this time! ^^

Lineart

The same goes for the lineart. I simply followed the refined sketch without making any significant changes to the original drawings.

Coloring

While coloring the background in the first panel, I initially planned to add just a few question marks and exclamation marks, as I had done in the sketch.

But somehow, I ended up creating a custom brush for each symbol! Hahaha!

They're stamp brushes, and I set them up so their size changes according to pen pressure. I also added a slight rotation variation to each stamp, so the symbols wouldn't look too evenly aligned.

This little experiment turned out to be a nice way to create a more decorative background while still conveying Luca's anxiety and confusion. A small detail, but one that helps communicate what's going on inside his head!

Rendering & Layout

After finishing the coloring, I moved on to the rendering and final layout, adding the finishing touches.

Let's see what happens next! 😏

Thanks for following along with the process! ❤️

Sindosan

I like how you have explored the compositions to see which one fits better! and i like the last decisión. The way of helping the bg colors to enhance Pino body is a good idea!! Thanks for sharing this ^_^
