BIG SPOILER ALERT: If you haven't read book 6 of Cyber Dreams, you might not want to read this post. I don't think I'm posting anything specific, but general spoilers abound. Even so, I'm opening this post for all of my patrons because it will impact everyone.

Hi everyone!

This post has been in my head and in a dozen rough draft forms for a long time. I’ve been stressed about it, depressed about it—entirely too emotional, however you look at it. Anyway, this is going to be a long, perhaps meandering, post, but I hope you’ll bear with me and read it all. I’m mostly going to be addressing my readers who enjoy Cyber Dreams, but if you’re a Victor of Tucson (VoT) supporter, you may want to read through this post because I’ll be talking about future plans, in general, and some of those plans will involve VoT.

I want to start this post by expressing my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Your unwavering support, constructive criticism, and eagerness to read my work have been the driving force behind my writing journey. Thanks to you, I can confidently say that I am a better writer today than when I began.

Now, to rip the bandage off, I will take a break—something like two months—from writing cyberpunk. You might wonder why I’ve written “cyberpunk” and not “Cyber Dreams.” We’ll get to that after I explain why I’m taking a break:

I have a deep love for Cyber Dreams. The characters I've created in this series are like family to me, and the readers who enjoy this story are the best, kindest, and most supportive I could ever ask for. However, the reality is that Cyber Dreams doesn’t sell as well as my other ongoing fiction. It’s not just a slight difference in sales; it’s a significant gap. For every VoT book I write, I would need to write five Cyber Dreams books to keep up. The simple fact of the matter is that “fantasy” sells a lot better on Amazon than “cyberpunk.”

I’m okay with that. I love Cyber Dreams enough to keep going with that level of sales, especially with the support you all give me on Patreon, but I have a problem in the not-too-distant future: Victor of Tucson isn’t going to go on forever. I can’t do it. I can’t write about Victor in perpetuity like some other authors seem to be able to do with their characters. Victor’s going to reach certain levels of power in the next few books that, frankly, feel like the right point to let him fade into the sunset (or die or retire, or something like that – I won’t spoil Victor’s arc here.)

The point is that Victor pays the lion’s share of my bills. He supports my family. So, if I’m going to prepare for Victor’s tale to end, I have to get some other irons in the fire. I have to try my hand at another story or two and see if I can’t find something successful that might take Victor’s place, and, unfortunately, I need to get started on that now before I get to the end of the VoT series. If I wait until the last book is done, I’ll be too late.

So? What’s my plan?

I write six chapters a week. Three for one series and three for another. At that pace, I can complete two books in around four months. Knowing that:

I’ll keep writing Victor of Tucson with my current schedule – three chapters a week. I’ve just started book 9 and have plans for 10, but it might stretch to 12.

I’ll revise and polish a book from a new series I have almost completed—Vainglory.

Because Vainglory 1 is almost complete, I won’t need four months for it. I think two is a safe bet to get everything revised and finished up.

After I finish posting Vainglory book 1, I’ll start writing my next cyberpunk book, but it won’t be Cyber Dreams; it will be a new cyberpunk series set in the same world but in the megacity of New York (actually in “New Brooklyn,” but those details will come.) It’s tentatively titled Neon Dust.

This story will take place around the same time as Cyber Dreams. Why? Because I want to maybe come back to Juliet someday; I don’t want to say this new story is 50 years in the future, for example, because then that will impact the timeline of Juliet’s life, and I’m not ready to say I’m done writing her story yet.

It will be a more “zoomed-in” look at cyberpunk life. We’ll focus a little more on the day-to-day, the struggle and grind, the friends and enemies, the upgrades, and the setbacks. Everything will be done with stakes that are important to the characters but not necessarily world-impacting (like in Juliet’s story.)

I intend to create characters you fall in love with, just like Juliet and Angel and Aya, but I know they won’t be the same, and—oh, God, why am I tearing up writing this? Jeepers!

After I finish the first book of Neon Dust, I’ll evaluate how things are going with Vainglory and Cyber Dreams and everything else. Basically, I’ll need to decide at that point if I write the next Vainglory book, write the next Neon Dust book, or try to think of something new. I have 3 to 4 days a week I can work on something other than VoT (until that series wraps up), so it will be a matter of what I really want to do weighed against what the readers want most.

Having some new IP out there, hopefully gaining new readers, will make me feel a lot more comfortable about the impending end of Victor of Tucson. Of course, these new stories may flop, and then I’ll be back to square one, trying to think of some way to juggle all of this. Don’t get me wrong—I am not complaining. I can’t stress how grateful I am to be able to write for a living. Having some small success, though, has provided me with a new kind of anxiety: Can I keep it up, or do I need to start taking classes to get recertified as a teacher? (Yes, I let my certification lapse. Oh, the hubris!)

You might be wondering why I don’t go right back to Cyber Dreams after I finish posting Vainglory’s first book. First of all, let me say that I’m a wreck right now, having wrapped up the Epilogue of Cyber Dreams 6—a feeling much more profound than any other book I’ve finished. I can’t stress how attached I became to those characters, and, honestly, I feel like someone important just walked out of my life. It’s really kind of a trip . . . Anyway, I have some reasons for not wanting to continue that story, and I’ll post some of them here:

Juliet is undeniably OP by now. She’s super-fast, super-skilled, has psionics, an AI “sister” that can hack into anything, and equipment and ships that are obscenely powerful and versatile. She’s built relationships with highly capable mercs, wonderful friends, and a True-AI. And let’s not forget about her powerful connections throughout the Sol System.

This series started as a zoomed-in cyberpunk novel with all the gritty details, the worry of working with strangers, the fear of betrayal, and the thrill of a new upgrade. I can’t see that being the same going forward. We’re moving into space opera territory, and I’m not sure I can or want to write that. Maybe?

I feel I did a lot right with this story, but I also know I made mistakes. I think Juliet ramped up in power and wealth too quickly. I intentionally pushed her into a massive conflict with a powerful megacorp and intended to keep that stewing on the back burner for much longer than I did. I guess giving her a powerful AI and forcing her to be on the run dictated the trajectory of the series more than I thought it would.

I’m also the kind of person who does good writing when I’m excited about something, and right now, I’m not feeling that for Cyber Dreams. It feels “done” to me, but if you read today’s chapter, you can see that I left the possibility of more books wide open. I know my feelings might change after a break.

Finally, I'd like to say that, if you're a fan of Cyber Dreams who didn't see any of this coming, I'm very sorry if you're feeling upset right now. That was certainly never my intention. I hope you'll see where Juliet is, be happy for her, and then look to my next cyberpunk series for some fresh faces and fresh adventures.

All of this said, I fully anticipate that some (many, who am I kidding?) of you who sub to my Patreon for Cyber Dreams will cancel your memberships, and I hope you understand that I have nothing in my heart but gratitude to you for the time you spent here. I kind of hope you’ll stick around long enough to read the first few chapters of my revised Vainglory story (more about this coming in the next day or two), but if you don’t, I wish you well.

If you do cancel, please be sure to remain as a free member. That way, you’ll get news and updates from me, some of which might involve Cyber Dreams. I hope you’ll consider returning when I start posting my new cyberpunk fiction—as always, the first 25 chapters will appear on Patreon before they show up on RR or anywhere else.

Thank you so, so much. I truly appreciate you all,

Plum Parrot

Well, thats it for me. Thanks for the Amazing 6 books of CD. It was a nice read for now and i hope to see your new idea come to fruition. See ya all in the future. Ps: I will come back eventually, but for know im out.

GrimV

Honestly, I joined solely for cyber dreams. It caught me while in a cyberpunk high and in search for great stories with female protagonists. Yes I am disappointed to hear that cyber dreams might just have ended but I think it's an acceptable point for me, story wise. She's very strong and any problems she has might have to escalate a lot. I really loved all the characters you brought to live, without exception. Evil or not. It's been filling me with inspiration and bursting with creative energy to create art around Juliet and your cyberpunk world. I hope your next stories catch me as much as Juliets did, because I want to keep supporting you with a little of what I have. I'm excited because no matter what your quality is great and in hindsight, yes you might think you made mistakes in pacing etc. But I want to say I didn't feel that at all. Every arc flowed naturally in my mind and her upgrades in power made sense for her, even if it shortened the amount of possible chapter. Oh and it's really a shame cyber dreams doesn't get more attention. In a nutshell: thank you for everything you created so far. You made much of the last year (or more even) much more bearable for me.

BananaInMyPants

Thanks for the story! It hurts knowing I cant read more of Juliets story, but youre right that ita a good place to leave her for now. I would be interested in a little space opera.

Hoffman

Nooooo....!!!! While Juliet might be OP keep in mind that Gentry will be doing gene editing regardless of what Honey and the other angel ai's are doing. That might give you ideas on how to make Juliet not OP. 😛 That said, take the time you need!! If one thing that I've learned is that self-care is extremely important.

Plum Parrot

So sorry, Aubrie :( I hope you'll like my new stuff.

Aubrie Chan

Most likely. I just took a break from victor cause I got to the part where they’re fighting giant bugs…I might skip those chapters lol 😂

Cyell

To be honest I only joined for Cyber Dreams so now I can give Victor a chance (at least I really like your writing style) On one side it is sad that Cyber Dreams will be paused (or stoped completely) but at least it has an nice and little open ending. And at least with Cyber Dreams it wasn't surprising, because the whole of Book 6 felt like Final Ending. I will totaly keep the Support (at least for the next months) and will see what comes next ^^

Plum Parrot

Thank you! I appreciate your open mind.

Plum Parrot

Thanks for looking out for me, Hoffman.

Plum Parrot

Thank you, GrimV :) Those words mean a lot!

Wromthrax

Well it was either this or aliens

Andrei

Wish you all the best! I'm only here for Cyber Dreams (which was a breath of fresh air in the flood of fantasy stuff) so for now I'll unsubscribe but I'll definitely remain as a free member to know when you start your next cyberpunk story! Looking forward to that, especially since you're making use of the amazing world you've built instead of scrapping it and starting all over!

Andrei

Agreed, I subscribe on Patreon to various writers to have regular chapters to read after heavy days at work/school/family and I was (nearly) always looking forward to Cyber Dreams!

sedael

it was a fairly natural stopping point for juliet, would have been more surprising for this not be the case imo

1FantasyFanatic

Bummer about Victor. I was hoping it would just keep going like DoTF, PH, etc.

Plum Parrot

Well, this is how I feel right now - there are still a few books to be written, so we'll see what happens.

mag28

I'm gonna be honest I only subbed for CD. VoT haven't tried and when you posted Vainglory is the past just didn't grip me. That being say thanks for the great story and I'm excited for possible new story. I'm excited for the future and hope you have all the success in the world good luck. Also gonna stay sunrise until Neon Dust(mainly because I believe you deserve and you should pay for things you want and I hope ot helps with)

STLMHARTS

I joined for vot but found cyber dreams and fell in love with the series. I love your writing I'll stick around looking forward to your next series and everything that is to come good luck I enjoy everything you've done!

Plum Parrot

🙏Thank you mag28. Vainglory will have some changes, but totally get it if it's not your thing.

Plum Parrot

Thank you so much! I think you'll like what's coming.

mag28

Also even if I want more CD I want to say you did a great job with it and left it in a great spot. So thank you for journey.

IndyBart

You could probably write instructions on how to assemble furniture and I’d read it. Looking forward to whatever you decide.

J Brooks

I realized I was hooked on CD when Juliet talked with Alice on the bridge of the Kowashi at the end of book 3. It felt like the moment when Juliet's "family" and her character solidified. Like that tipping point where you go from worry about your work quality, self worth, and rampant imposter syndrome, to realizing that you are both competent and welcomed. Thank you for that, and many other, moments. I appreciate the insight into the next few months. But, I am now a lifelong fan of yours as I'm sure many others here are. Of course I will keep subscribing. I am going to love the anticipation for visiting your cyberpunk NY. Enjoy the break!

TheBotler

I enjoyed cyber dreams, and honestly think it's the best cyberpunk story I've read, I look forward to checking out your other stories because of it. Thank you.

Plum Parrot

Wow, thank you so much :) You folks don't know how much it means to me to hear words like that. ❤️❤️❤️

mrthorwahl

On the third book of Cyber Dreams and I'm loving it which is unusual since I prefer fantasy. I'd easily stick around for 20+ VoT books tho, just saying... :)

mrthorwahl

Agreed, I also sub to those two authors since a year or two and neither series is stale yet.

Andrew Yaeger

So I'm also one of the people here only for Cyber Dreams. I've enjoyed your cyber punk however isakai fantasy is a much more crowded genre and Victor is just not special. It annoying that it is the novel that pays the bills but I completely understand doing what's best for your family. I will be un subscribing but will catch your next cyber punk on amazon. Peace out dude.

sleepydragan

I'm pretty sad to hear that I won't get more juliet and angel for a while at minimum. it's been a constant in my life and has helped me emotionally during some rough moments. Being able to escape into juliets world a chapter at a time as been awesome. I can understand your reasoning and honestly really respect it. thank you for the world you've built and I hope for more in the future. That being said I've been smashing my head into a brick wall trying to find any scifi/cyberpunk that even remotely has the same feel as cyber dreams so I'm stoked for your next installment in that universe, and I look forward to reading your new story vainglory.

Plum Parrot

Love to hear how much you enjoyed the story! I think you'll enjoy what I've got coming!

Shawn

I can't even wrap my head around VoT ending in 10 books trying to see it in 2 or 3 books is mind boggling. I imagined reading Victor's story till he got so powerful he could go to where his ancestors are but maybe that's just death which would be a bummer. I get it though it can't the most fun thing in the world to feel stuck to one series. It's sort of the gotcha with fantasy books/books in the progression/litrpg subgenre the more expansive it is the harder it is to end it.

mrthorwahl

My thoughts exactly. He still has so far to go.

Plum Parrot

This is valuable feedback to me. I'll definitely keep an open mind as I write the next couple of books.

Tikiza

!!!Spoiler alert!!! I m sad to see cyber dreams end here but I can understand your arguments. The characters in the story were absolutely awesome! VoT is not for me though. I've read to the middle of book 5 I think but for some reasons I never connected to the character in the way I did with Juliet and her crew. Guess I have to read vainglory or hope to fall in love with neon dust when it starts. CyberDreams made it to #1 of my faforite story's I read at the moment. The point to end the story is a good one though. The big fight with WBD was what started j on her way and WBD left the system strongly diminished and its where I expected the story to end. I happy we got to book 6 since the conflict would have been rushed at the end of book 5 and I would have been disappointed to have that conflict rushed in 20 or so chapters.

Plum Parrot

Thank you, Tikiza! Don't feel bad about not loving Victor - it's a very different story from what brought you here. Vainglory will be quite different too, but with some characters I hope people will grow to love. I think you're going to like Neon Dust, too.

Tikiza

Cyber Dreams is an outlyer in my reading history. Normaly I read more story's like VoT. My Audible acount spans over 800 books and cyber dreams is the only one in its genere. I cant remember how I got to read Cyber Dreams but I fell in love with the Caracters instantly.

Sektimus

I was hooked on CyberDreams from book 1. Very sad to see it go on hiatus. One of my go to re-read favourites. But I understand the reasonings. As people have said already, there seems to be very little good Cyberpunk style books out there, and this is a real gem. NGL. I'll suspend here, for a bit - will try Victor out on KU, and will head back this way to see what the Neon book is like. Thankyou for all the Cyberdreams so far Plum! :D

Plum Parrot

Ah, I see! Well hopefully you'll like what I've got coming :)

Zach

Thanks for the story! Yeah, power escalation is the thing that dooms most stories I like so I'm glad you're doing what feels right there. I'm definitely going to check out the next series, what you're doing is pretty close to what I hoped you would do. To me the greatest strength of The Wandering Inn is how it handles progression and the need for constant stakes. It does this in a pretty simple way: there's hundreds of characters and the story goes and spends time with them instead. Stepping back down to street level sounds nice, too, as well as the idea that Juliet might be relevant again, though from a distance. I still wouldn't mind seeing Juliet struggle in an arena she can't cut her way out of too. She has powerful tech, genius designers and friends strong enough to defend her. But her answer to politics is fighting. What happens when that isn't the case? What happens when people who aren't her friends are threatened by a project but it's completely legal? As much as I love Victor, I'm glad you're thinking of ending that too. I definitely connected more with the story back when he was weaker. It's the same escalation problem most progression stories eventually run into. There's lots of potential for a more zoomed out story, but that's basically what you tried to do with Falling on Folded Wings and that went on hiatus. As much as I love the characters I'm not sure the way Victor is handled will support him getting all that much stronger. But that's the fundamental conundrum facing progression story writers, and it's already weathered better than most I've read. ...this turned into a bit of a ramble, so, I'm going to shut up and just say thanks! I had a lot of fun with Cyber Dreams. I'm definitely going to give the next cyberpunk series a try, too.

Plum Parrot

Thank you so much for the detailed reply - Thank you for your support!

Fortunis

Bummer. I read Dreams pretty much exclusively. I'd have read Victor but I absolutely despise Tardzerkers. That said, I'm down for whatever new series you decide to write. You got bills to pay just like the rest of us.

Evan Burns

I actually feel like I read your books in a really strange order. I started with VoT up to current RR, then the first 3 CD on KU, then FWFW on KU, then I JUST subscribed on Patreon and burned through everything (incuding staying up all night until 5 am to finish book 6 CD.). So I wasn't here when FWFW went on hiatus, but I would really like to see some of those characters again too. Plus more Juliet, but she has defnitely become overpowered. I will definitely at least give whatever content you end up releasing a chance, I've loved it all so far!

maximum0428

Thank you very much for writing all these amazing stories, Plum! I really really really enjoy them all! Although I originally started on CD somewhere around Vol 2, I started later on FWFW and VoT and I loved them as well! And when you posted those early chaps of VG, I love them as well! You're one of the few authors that I can genuinely say that I love everything they've written! While I am sad to see CD ending, I do know it has to end at some point, and this was a good one to end at... The main conflict has been resolved and she's set up to have a happy life amongst her remaining family and friends and I absolutely love that! I definitely will not be unsubbing from the Patreon and will keep my current teir for however long you keep writing (and as long as I can afford it lol) because I want to continue reading everything you put out!! Plus ill definitely keep buying all your books on Kindle as I've been doing til now! That new Cyberpunk story sounds pretty good and I'm looking forward to seeing what it becomes! As well as the return on Vainglory, that story has a lot of promise to it and I'd love to see where it goes 😁 As always, keep it up Plum, I love your stories and I'll follow you for as long as you'll go! 🫡😁

Plum Parrot

Thanks! You might like Vainglory, and I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy my next cyberpunk entry!

Plum Parrot

Thank you for all the support and for letting me know you enjoy the stories! :)

Plum Parrot

Thanks so much, maximum0428! Feedback like this keeps me going! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lachezar

With the amount of world building you have and the amount of power shown to be possible in that world, you have room for a lot of books in the VOT universe. I always say if it keeps selling, write it.....unless you are sick and tired of VoT :)

Greg Lambert

All chapters and stories have an end. I appreciate the work you do. The big lovable oaf that is Victor when it ends will live on in our memories. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Moosh7

Ah, progression fiction and OP main characters causing problems for authors--a classic combo. I like how you described the issue though: it's not impossible to write about op characters, it just eventually changes the story to a different genre (or you run into the MMO/Dragonball problem of everything feeling the same with color-swapped bigger numbers). I respect your transparency on what excites you as a writer and what will likely pay the bills. I'm also a fan of you as a writer overall (such quality with such consistency has been a real treat, well done), so I'll be staying subscribed. I thought Vainglory was cool but maybe a bit low stakes; main character was a kind of wondering ronin without clear (to me) or exciting long-term goals. Interested to see what you've changed. Fingers crossed for your continued success!

Plum Parrot

So glad you mentioned that about Vainglory. I had the same feeling when I took it down for revisions. I've added some higher stakes for Ward (and two other characters.) :)

Gwyn

I haven't finished book 6 yet, but still sad to see it going on hiatus. Still, 6 books is a solid series. I'll be eagerly looking forward to the next Cyberpunk story and hope it inspires you to write some space opera with Juliet.

Abbie

Sad to see cyber dreams be… put on the back burner if I understand correctly? But I am looking forward to Neon Dust. Completely understand why you are altering your plans and am looking forward to it. Also, I think cyber dreams as a space opera has a lot of potential. Either way. Rest, recuperate, and take care of your family as you plan.

Spart1n158

Sad to see juliet and angel go, but I think this is a good place for it. I definitely prefer this to it getting dropped due to burnout.

Sébastien Kingsbury

Aw, I just started book 2 of cyberdreams. Didn't read the whole post to avoid spoilers but disappointing to hear it's gonna be on a bit of a hiatus. Hopefully not too bad of a cliffhanger wherever the story is on book 6

Cteatus

Great story. Congrats on reaching an end! But I will say, I do think there's one thing that as a reader has me feeling like there was something left on the table. For so much of this story its felt like Juliet was either just reacting to the situation, or moving on someone else's board if that makes sense. For example, in Book 1 she was reacting to getting Angel, then in Book 2 she was being manipulated by WBD to go after Grave, Book 3 was her chasing Honey after she'd been kidnapped. Book 4 was her wandering into Nick's story. And book 5 was mostly about her and Tanaka and the fallout of their fight and their building a new relationship. In Book 6 she did go after WBD, but they snuck a march on her and kidnapped her. None of those are bad things to be clear. But I think the thing I think I was looking forward to a lot, and maybe there wasn't as much of was Juliet and crew going on the attack. That being said, I've really enjoyed this whole ride, and while I'll hope for more Cyber Dreams, I think ultimately that this is a fine ending, and you should be very proud.

Ben Morgan

I just subscribed yesterday because I felt like I finally had to pay you for all the fun I had with Juliet (and, admittedly, because I didn't want to wait for RR to reach the final confrontation and end of book 6). My timing is impeccable.

StressedTech

Well, I came for cyber dreams, cause Seras (who is also struggling with GitC) wasnt writing fast enough to fully satisfy. Found out that you were a fantastic author, tried VoT and now enjoy it as well. Ill stay as long as you keep putting out quality material because I am a reading addict and your books take me places and let me enjoy other worlds. So charge on and ill start in on vainglory. Unless you do somethingout of character and write crap I am looking forward to the new adventure, wherever it may take us. BTW keep pumping out the audibles i own all of them so far and my wife needs her fix as well. BBTW I also really like space operas, especially Glyn Stewart style. Cyberpunk space pilots are awesome.

Plum Parrot

I think you'll be satisfied with the way things wrap up in book 6 :) Thanks for reading!

Plum Parrot

Really good feedback - thanks for sharing all of that :)

Plum Parrot

Doh! Sorry, Ben - I hope you'll enjoy some of the other stuff I have on offer.

Plum Parrot

Thanks so much for all the support! Thank your wife for me, too! I hope you'll like my new stuff, as well :)

Ben Morgan

All good, I'm not even mad, I'm still laughing about it. I'm sure I will, there's not enough cyberpunk writing out there and yours is excellent. Keeping it low-level gritty for longer for the next one makes me very excited for it!

Steven Wood

Are you done with Fwfw? If so, I am disappointed. Wanted to see how Morgan advances and the Dragon (forgot her name) with her restart. I tried Vainglory, but I am not a fan of having a hitchhiker in the mind schtick. Just a personal quirk. Anyway, enjoy your writing, keep it up.

Plum Parrot

Thanks, Steven. When I finished FWFW 3, I left it in a place where there weren't any real cliffhangers, and each one of the MCs was in a sort of transition with their major arcs mostly resolved. I thought, "This is a good place to leave things until I come back to it." I thought that would be easy, given some time to work on other projects, but I'm finding that it's gotten harder. As I gain fans of other series and hear those voices asking for this or that, I have to weigh everything against the relatively smaller audience that is eager for more FWFW. I also have to think about what inspires me because if I force myself to write things I'm not eager to get into, it will just burn me out. I've learned a lot since I wrote those three books and, honestly, I feel like I can tell better stories if I start new ones rather than trying to build onto those established plotlines. I won't rule it out for certain, but right now, a FWFW 4 isn't on the roadmap. As for Tiladia - I thought she had a cool story, too, and, if I do get back to that series, she'll feature prominently.

Evan Burns

I'd really like to see a random cameo of one of the FWFW characters in VoT, maybe Morgan, since he could at least plausibly have powered up enough to be somewhat near to Victor (I think I might have timelines off by a bit)> I'm sure it's not as easy as just popping him in real quick, but they could conceivably cross paths some random place off world.

Bum Bumbo

Why arent u starting another fantasy story if that's what sells better (i love fantasy and dislike cyberpunk)

Plum Parrot

Vainglory is next on the docket and it's fantasy

TDarwin

I'm bummed. I really love Juliette and Angel and the whole crew. Cyber Dreams was the first book of yours that I read, and it's what got me hooked on your work. I find it a lot more engaging than Victor, though I do still love VoT. It's really hard to find Cyberpunk that is not just massively grimdark. CD has some grimdark to it, there's bad shit, but there's enough noblebright in the characters that I feel like it really lifts up the mood of the series and makes it engaging in a non depression fueling way. I really appreciate this so much. And when I needed something that wasn't fantasy litrpg, but wasn't as horribly apocalyptically doom&gloom, CD was there and it has been amazing. I'll be bummed to see this series go. I do understand the thought, and this _is_ a very good place to wrap up the series. But if you do feel like starting a sequel space opera series with the CD crew, I'm here for it and will be on that bandwagon! I'm excited about Vainglory as well and will finish out VoT with you for sure. But I gotta say I already can't wait for Neon Dust to start. I'm chomping at the bit for more of your cyberpunk world. Thank you for the amazing work you've done, the stories you've told and are telling, and the stories you will tell in the future. I'm looking forward to them greatly!

Plum Parrot

Thanks for your support! This kind of feedback keeps me going, for sure :)

Mason

I don't understand, Plum? Why don't you just keep milking the Victor cash-cow endlessly and chip away at his story and identity like every other writer?!?!?!? In all seriousness, I think the mentality behind this post is exactly why you're so successful and a great author that we all love. You try to craft stories and narratives rather than an endless serial with no end in sight. It's so hard to find in the current progression fantasy landscape, and you do it beautifully. Godspeed, and I know that I will at least be checking out Vainglory with great hope!

Christian

Noo, my heart just broke. My absolute favourite series 💔. Plum, you owe it to J to have one more book to absolutely smash everybody and everything WBD and the mess they created. Also, no need for space opera, just warp and deal with whatever they are creating 😀. Also, you ned to sell the film rights to some S-tier dudes so we can enjoy your world and wonderful characters in 3D. It would be a (cyber) dream come true. Cheers

I have a few thoughts and all of them are good 🥹: 1. I think Cyber Dreams finished in a good place. I would love to revisit the world maybe from another character in the far future with their own issues but I agree that it feels like Juliet’s story has reached a good point. I think you’ve built an awesome world with engaging characters (which is why it’s hard to say goodbye) but at the same time the stakes needed to challenge Juliet would be like ultra hard to execute on and I’ve seen plenty of WNs fizzle because they tried to and got lost in the space opera sauce. It’s been a while since I started reading Cyber Dreams (I think I saw the initial RR chapters and was hooked) but just wanted to explicitly thank you for such an engaging and well written series. It takes a lot of courage to let a story sit and I am happy you’re making the decision. 2. I have been meaning to read VoT (as a Tucsonan native myself I won’t lie, I am curious) and I hope it captures my imagination! I think the plans you are describing are awesome to hear. It’s important to keep planning for the future and I hope that your planning allows you to keep writing!! Anyways, I’m actually a bit teary writing this but most WNs don’t get the closure you’re giving with Cyber Dreams and the care you’re approaching this decision with is clear! Thank you for 6 absolutely action packed and engaging volumes of Cyber Dreams: a unique story in a genre that is very easy to feel samey. Thanks again!! - noëlle

Thank you so much! I can't begin to tell you how much messages like this mean to me. I hope you like VoT, but don't feel bad if you don't! Thanks for all of your support!

I normally don't comment and am kinda late to the party, but this time i feel like i have to. I am one of those who are here for Cyver Dreams and want to thank you for the amazing ride. It's a good point in the story for a break or even ending, even so i hope you continue this story one day. I really liked the vibe of Cyber Deams, being dark at times, but without drifting off into the horrible grim-darkness many cyberpunk stories get.

Thank you for taking the time to say so! I love the moments of brightness in a grim setting, too, and I intend to keep it up!

I also only subbed for CD and haven't read your other stories - yet. They're in the queue! I thoroughly enjoyed Juliet's story and felt that it ended on a good note but also that there's plety of room for more. Sure she's "OP" now but she's still only human in a big world. The story could simply go up in scale as you said. My favorite sci fi series of all time - the Vorkosigan Saga - started as a space opera and evolved over time to include entire books focused on detective drama, diplomacy, adventure and romance. New protagonists and PoVs were introduced. The series grew and evolved alongside it's characters. I'm not saying that's what you should do, only that it can be done and be wonderful. Either way I wish you luck in your future writing endeavors and thank you for all the fish.

Absolutely agree with you! We'll see what comes :) Thank you for the support!

I'm very late here, but I went on a bit of a hunt to sniff out the possibility of a Cyber Dreams 7 after finishing the audiobooks. First, I think your concerns with how you wrote the story are unfounded. The pacing was phenominal, and I very literally devoured each audiobook (I drive for a living) the moment they came out. The tension was always high, and while there were moments where Juliet got to recuperate at least for a little, something was always simmering in the background. In my opinion, it was perfect. I truly don't say that lightly. My main hobby is reading, and I spend a minimum of 220 hours each month (literally, Audible has statistics lol) doing just that. And nearly as much time on kindle and royal road when I'm off work. I even dabble in writing, so I can see some of what authors are putting together and pick it apart some. I've seen poorly paced, poorly structured, shoddy characters, crap stakes, and the opposite of each and more, all mixed in various ways. Cyber Dreams was not found lacking in *any of them*. Now that's out of the way... thanks. For writing the story. It's genuinely the best cyberpunk story I've ever read, and if you remember how much I read... that hopefully means something to you. It does to me. I'm sad to hear that it might be the end, though I felt that book 6 was a fantastic cap on the series. It tied up all the important loose ends and left nothing but confidence in Juliet's future endeavors and a whiff of the possibility for more. It was kind of like a movie ending with the MC looking off into the sunset. I'm happy with it, while wishing there was more.

Thanks for that glowing feedback! It means a lot :)
