For 2D platformer action games, which do you guys prefer more overall: the linear level-based approach or the metroidvania? I usually prefer linear stuff, as I get choice paralysis and heavily dislike the feeling of missing things on paths I didn't find/choose, but I'd like to hear your thoughts.

OOPS SORRY FOR REAL LONG QUESTION TL;DR do you have nostalgia for ps2/gamecube/xbox era and wish it could be seen in indie games? Hello Brady and James! Really appreciate the response to the last question. I guess I was also thinking about aesthetics and not just design, but on the topic of aesthetics, I was wondering if there was any aesthetic nostalgia you guys might have for the dreamcast/ps2/gamecube/xbox era? I kinda feel like the UI of something like kingdom hearts or the mixture of smooth and low poly nature graphics of the first two pikmin games, gamecube water with graphics that hold up today and give me this sorta 2000s vibes (I believe some call that crisp realistic nature with a glossy future-y vibe “frutiger aero” something you could also see with the early iphone and windows 7) when people usually do a throwback aesthetic they usually go more towards the ps1/n64 or earlier which is awesome but I do wonder if there is any love for that gamecube nostalgia look in the same way.

Thoughts on Sonic Frontiers? If im being honest, I'm not entirely sure why people are praising THIS sonic game so heavily even after completing the first two islands. The Open World's alright, but the levels feel just as linear as Sonic Forces to me. I think especially after playing Spark the Electric Jester 3 which felt REALLY free-form and fluid in how you can move, its surprising to see people praise Frontiers so much.

How would you feel if Atari revived the old Crystal Castles IP and made it into a 3D platform? Bentley Bear was one of the earlier video game characters next to Pac-Man and Q-Bert, so it would be interesting to see what a modern version of this character would be like. I do know there is an Atari 7800 homebrew called Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest. P.S. Bentley Bear was also in Atari Karts for the Atari Jaguar.

Thoughts on sonic project 06? I think it's the coolest shit ever, especially now that ppl are reworking secret rings stages to work as 06 stages. I love sonic 06 as it is but man, project 06 is fucking awesome.
