I am behind in posting FaLLEN pages because I had to finish up this commission from the wonderful Mr. Monttu (sorry it took so long this time!) and because I am doing a pro bono comic for a homeless foundation. I'll be posting that one sometime in the next two weeks to all tiers.

Mr. Monttu asked me to do a companion piece to the other commission he had me do of Shion and Rimuru from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. I like to think the other one was a more relaxed setting and in this one the alcohol has started to take a little more effect!

I definitely had more fun on this one! But I had less time to work on it, which meant it kept getting pushed back a bit. We've also had a LOT of severe storms for the last few weeks and I don't usually work if we're in a tornado watch or flood warning, etc.

I also did something very different for the shading, but I'll talk about that below!

Process Images

The rough sketch! Sooooo sloppy, I'm such a hack/fraud.

My INITIAL line work! But Mr. Monttu is pretty picky and I was asked to redo it and make it a little less stiff.

I pulled the camera back a bit and tried to add a bit more movement to the picture.

I was asked to change Rimuru's expression, so I made it a bit sillier.

Sent a final confirmation request for the lineart.

Flat colors.

Shading!

Very slight differences! Gradation and highlights...

I adjusted the shading on Shion and decided I liked a color burn effect instead of my usual dark shading. I've done this a few times in the past but I don't like to do it too often even though I like how it looks :p

Was asked to add some steam, and now it's done!
