I was asked to do a comic pro bono for a publication that supports homeless people and shares their stories. This is the story of a real person and her battle with her addiction to alcohol.

Originally I was asked to do one page, and I said "Sure, I can do that!" But then when they handed me the script it was for two pages. I ended up re-writing the dialogue to make it more comic appropriate.

I think when I was asked to do this they were expecting me to do a manga-styled fully toned piece, but I don't work in tones anymore because I don't use digital tones much. So I used purple shades on white. I actually STARTED to color this but I didn't like how it looked and went back to just purples and whites.

I was a little pressed for time with this. I left for a two week cruise before the deadline and I was kind of swamped with other stuff (working on my own comic, my kid's ballet recital, school ended and I had to keep my kid busy during the day, and I got sick!). I really hadn't expected to take on a two-page story when I agreed to this, and though I should have said no I felt bad rejecting someone who had had a rough life.

I hope it is still effective, though.

Please enjoy this freebie and have a nice day!
