I was asked to draw some artwork for a convention called SoonerCon in Oklahoma. I was a little nervous because they told me they had no restrictions on colors, and then later told me they kind of did, and then when it was done told me it was too expensive and would need to be reworked. I haven't reworked it yet, so we'll see what ends up on the final design.Since it is getting retooled, and since I was too busy working on the Kickstarter to get new art post, I've got some art I did in February for the shirt to share. Not my usual style, since I was going for a little more cartoony. Features Ripley the raccoon mascot of the con.

Here's how it was supposed to look, I have no idea how it will turn out now, haha. Anyway, enjoy some non-anime art for a change heh heh.

No restrictions! Except actually ALL of the restrictions. 😂 Looks cute!

I specifically remember asking if they needed me to use a limited color palette for printing purposes and they said no limits. I bet we end up just using one or two colors for the final version. Really cool con people though!

Did you send them a contract with specifications on what they want and what you'll provide? If you don't have one yet, I can share with you what I wrote when I contracted with a designer to come up with the style guide for my research project. It may extend the process (because depending on the con, it might need to be approved by its board) but it would definitely save on miscommunication and revisions. Something that I might have pointed out in the sketch phase would be worrying about the tangents between the jet pack and the tail and then the angle of the position of the jet pack and the arch of the mascot's back. It's kinda... suggestive.

Oh wow, I sent you a huge response and it just vanished when I hit "post." The short version is, it was all out of my hands.
